Fabulous hotel with helpful and welcoming staff. Great views of Lake Maggiore and surrounding mountains especially from the rooftop terrace. Breakfast was a joy in the gorgeous dining room opened up to the outside terrace. Walk into Stresa town centre would be difficult for anyone with difficulties as it was almost 1 mile. For us it was a fantastic stroll along the lakefront promenade - what a vista! Ferry boats to the Borremean Islands and many places around Lake Maggiore go from the dock at Carciano which is just a few minutes walk from Hotel Royal. Perfect location. And we loved the vases filled with hydrangeas making the reception, bar and seating areas such a pleasure to sit and relax. Thanks to all for a lovely stay.

The room had everything we needed. Breakfast was plentiful and the pool was great to rest by in the afternoon. Hotel was an easy 20min walk to the train station, town centre and boat tour departure areas. Staff were helpful and check-in/out was easy. Would stay here gain.

Bartender is a highlight. Very old school dining room with good food. But the crowd here is older for sure. Groundskeeper is excellent (gorgeous landscaping). Patio view is fabulous. Nice pool and walking distance to Stresa.& the ferries. They need an actual shower.

Quiet, yet convenient

Hotel Royal was in nearby Carciano, a short but pleasant walk to Stresa's main hotels and waterfront. We enjoyed the quieter location and the beautiful gardens, with easy access to the lake and Stresa proper. Rooms were nice, but the public spaces (gardens, lobby, bar, rooftop deck) were extra special. Nice dining area for a most ample breakfast, with lots of choices. A delightful patio for aperitivo and complimentary snacks with a view of the lake. Bar/wait staff/desk staff were all very helpful. The rooftop deck has extraordinary vistas of the lake and islands. On site parking and a short walk to the train station. So close to Milano ...and yet so far.

The property was within easy walking of the main town of Stresa and much less expensive than the large hotels. It was also very convenient for accessing the ferries to the Borromean islands, a jewel of Lake Maggiore. The hotel decor was luxurious and the restaurant, which served a full buffet breakfast, overlooked a patio and gardens. The view from the roof top terrace was lovely. The only hitch was that I could not get the WiFi in my room to work so I had to use the WiFi in the main lounge. Overall, however, this was a very pleasant experience.
