This is a gorgeous hotel. Staff was very friendly and willing to help with anything. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The only thing I didn't like is that they only give you 2 hours of free Wifi for your entire stay.
The hotel may be 100 years old but it is very well maintained and stately. The outdoor pool is very nice. Short walk to town. Just across the street from the lake. My one complaint was the "free" Wi-Fi. Four hours after check-in, after taking survey, two hours are provided. Parking in their parking lot is €10 a day but free parking is along the street if available.
Old timey palace-like hotel with modern amenities and a good location. We walked a few blocks to 'downtown' Stresa for shopping, drinking and dining. A few blocks the other way was the cable car and boats to the islands on Lago Maggiore. Our room was modern, though a bit small, with two balconies. The pool below us was beautiful, although the weather was too cool to enjoy it. The room did not include breakfast so I cannot comment on that. Wish it did as it would have been very convenient to start our day right there. Overall, a very nice hotel.
I found the hotel to be overpriced and the staff unaccommodating. The first room they gave us was so tiny. I asked to see other rooms in the same price range and then was shown a larger room which we took. The staff was clearly annoyed by my request to see other rooms. I booked online through Orbitz and it turned out the rate, which as at least $250 USD per night, didn't include breakfast. We heard other guests checking in with a lower rate, and one that included breakfast. When I inquired they insisted that you never get breakfast when booking over the Internet. I had to pay 4 Euro for a cup of coffee, they wouldn't even include that for the over priced room. They charged for WiFi and wouldn't include that either. I felt that we grossly over paid and the staff wouldn't give an inch on it. They also charged 10 Euro per night for the parking garage. There are several nice hotels in Stresa and I'm sure you can find a better deal elsewhere.
Wonderful location, great rooms.
Our room, though on the side of the hotel, had a balcony with a view of the lake. Nice room, very friendly and professsional front desk staff. Parking garage just feet from the main entrance--very convenient. The breakfast buffet was very nice (good bread!). This hotel belongs to a group of 3 or 4 in the area I believe. Would easily return for another stay.
