The resort was very generous to offer a discounted rate for a national public service organization conference and the the amenities were great for our purposes. The staff handled our large group beautifully and all of the attendees I interacted with seemed very pleased. The catered meals were excellent, cold water was available in every room, the number of rooms available for breakout sessions was adequate, and the large conference room and small stage area were excellent for the purposes of our conference. I was personally very pleased with the service staff in all of my interactions and would recommend the resort to anyone who asked my opinion.
The Stoweflake resort offers good value and a convenient location. It is located on the recreation trail which is a paved walkway, allowing anyone to take advantage of the great outdoors here. If you take the path towards Stowe, you are in the downtown after a two mile walk. No need to worry about parking! Go the other way and you are more in the "nature part" passing farms, etc. The rooms are very large and it is rare to find a bathroom in a hotel with a double sink. A lot of room to store luggage. Rooms are a bit dated but it is clean and well taken care of. A lot of recreation on site with indoor/outdoor pool, big fitness area, and a spa area. We stayed there on a fall driving trip and appreciated the Recreation path, the downtown, seeing the von Trapp Lodge, and taking in the maple syrup museum and Ben & Jerry's. This is a great location for visiting Stowe. Good stop for us or if you have kids. The concierge was excellent - extremely helpful with things to do and with restaurants. This place offers very good value for the price.
The highlight of the room was definitely the gas fireplace. Other than that pretty standard. The bed was very soft, and the furniture was a bit dated. Not sure about the orange heat lamp in the bathroom; haven't seen one of those in a long time. The staff was nice and the food at the conference was pretty good.
What a pretty and lovely resort this is. The indoor pool was small, but nice. The outdoor pool looked lovely, but too cold when I was there. I had a nice room, nothing special, but all I needed. You just visit Historic Stowe if you stay here as it has lovely places to see. The big problem with this resort for me is the unhelpful staff on reception (concierge is excellent) and the dreadful organisation at breakfast. There were several groups in the hotel. The wait for breakfast exceeded 40 mins. It even got to the stage that they suggested going back to your room and they would ring you. When we were seated we only got offered the buffet as they knew hey couldn’t cope with serving off the menu. Management seemed to do a disappearing act and left it to a very flustered group of staff.
The friendly and accommodating staff at the Stoweflake helped to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the bell and front desk staff were very helpful, kind, and efficient. I would definitely stay there again, and I would recommend the Stoweflake to anyone looking for a great value right in the heart of Stowe.
We had a two queen bed hotel room for me and my two adult daughters. Having a mini keurig in the room made for great coffee/tea. The small refrigerator made it easy to keep snacks and beverages in the room. The gas fireplace was a warming touch. The bathroom was big enough that three women shared it easily!
This resort IS "top notch," by far the best in the area. The rooms are comfortable and the staff are friendly and truly care about you. If you want to stay somewhere that's memorable - this is the place!
I was disappointed in this place. I thought it was overpriced and the service was poor. Spa staff was rude and uninterested so I didn't even book a service. Front desk was unhelpful and wouldn't honor a AAA discount even though I'm a member. Location is great and the restaurants and stores nearby are charming.
We travelled as a family of 5 adults and 3 children and selected the two bedrooms town house plus a regular "luxury" room in the main building, because of the composition of the family age groups. When making the booking we were NOT advised that the Town House was detached from the main building and, therefore required a car to reach it! If you attempted to walk to the town house, it would be a very wet experience with the many pot holes in the road and poor illumination.Overall the hotel was OK, but far from "luxury" and indeed a general re-furbishment would be very much in order.
My friends and I just spent the day at the Spa. First of all, everyone who worked here, from the people who checked you in, to the masseuse, to the waitstaff in the lunch room were wonderful. My 80 minute aromatherapy massage was absolute heaven, and I have never felt so relaxed! The spa was immaculate, and there were many conveniences (showers with soap and shampoo, wonderful robes, plenty of towels, hair dryers, etc.) So, why didn't I give it a 5? Well, first of all, our lunch was cold. We put down we wanted to eat between 12:30 and 1, and at 1:10 I asked why they hadn't come to get us yet. We were told they would come as soon as our lunches were ready, and literally two minutes later they came to get us. The food was cold, so obviously we were forgotten. There were also many things not working, many of the locks on the lockers, one of the steam rooms, two outlets in the locker area. Again, for the use of the jacuzzi and mineral bath all could be forgiven, but for the exorbitant price, it was difficult to overlook. This was my second time here, but the first time was a free experience won at raffle. Not sure if I would return again for the price. But, it was worth it for the relaxation today. Hopefully they will get some of these issues fixed.
