This hotel was located in downtown Stirling within walking distance to local restaurants and pubs. The room we had was very comfortable and spacious. Also, the staff was extremely helpful in planning the next leg of our journey with our rental car. We would highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel was exactly what one would expect staying in such an historic city. It is literally a 5-10 minute walk right up the hill to Stirling Castle. We didn't drive, so the walk from the train station wasn't bad either - the bus station is right next to the train station. The hotel is a refurbished old high school from the 1850's - full of its own history, and it was fascinating. The breakfast was the best meal we had during our visit in Scotland - it had everything: Haggis, bacon, pastries, fresh fruit, etc. If we go back, we will stay here again.

Could clearly hear sounds and feel footfalls from the hallway when in the room: walls not insulated for sound. Floors not solid. Dingy overall; in need of renovation.

Located very close to the castle, you’re in the heart of the city. The interior decor is very traditional/dark—but the room was comfortable. The bathtub/shower is a bit treacherous to climb in and out of—they may want to consider converting to walk showers in the future.

Stairs were a bit much for us. Need to install an elevator. Was refused dinner because we didn’t have a reservation, even though we were staying at hotel.

The elevator doesn't go to all the floors. I had to carry 2 heavy suitcases up stairs and walk the entire length of the hotel as I had the last room. The room was cold with nothing but a small radiator and the mattress was hard.

The hotel is shabby when I was expecting something more pleasing to the eye. The TV did not work but it took 24 hours and reminders to get a simple exchange of the remote control. Breakfast was unappetizing( the fried eggs were greasy and the potato concoction was tasteless. I requested tea fir breakfast when asked but each time was given coffee. It seemed that the management had not trained the dining room staff in customer satisfaction. I was surprised in the first morning to be served watery porridge that would make a true-blooded Scots person cringe. Finally I was appalled to be asked to pay an extra £15 just to check out 1 hour late. Although the room was clean and comfortable? I would not choose this hotel again. For the price, I had hoped for better.
