very modern hotel with great rooms and very nice staff close to everything, great for the Christmas markets as its right in the centre of all the action . rooms very very comfortable with a lot of quality touches
Now I’ve thought long and hard about putting this review onto TripAdvisor and even after talking to the hotel, I’ve not heard anything back from the hotel so I can only presume that I’ve gone away and forgotten about it, MMM No I haven’t. I stayed at Sofitel Hotel in the old town of Wroclaw in Poland 5star hotel, we stayed there from the 1st to 4th October 17, this is a regular hotel for us we love the location and the staff are usually very good. I woke up after our first night and complained to my wife that I was itching and had bites on my body but didn’t really take much notice of it. When we awoke on the second morning my wife and son both complained of itching and bites, My wife who is a Polish national went straight to reception to complain and they moved us to a new room so they could investigate what was going on. I wasn’t too happy about this as we had to pack all our stuff back up When we checked out I was outraged that the receptionist had the cheek to say I hope you had a pleasant stay and there was no mention of the fact that we had quite clearly NOT had a pleasant stay. I paid our bill in full with NO apology about our stay. I have been in contact with the hotel management since but the hotel does not seamed bothered to rectify the issues and concerns we had over our stay and basically they have ignored us hoping we will go away. This is supposed to be a 5 star Hotel but a hotel with bugs in their beds is not a five star hotel, I would expect this from a cheap hostel. There are other hotels in Wroclaw and shall be spending my money there in future as we have no faith in the Sofitel brand.
My wife and I stayed here for a weekend break and to take in the Christmas market. Check in was very quick and friendly. Our room was very clean and spacious. The location of the hotel is excellent, literally one minute from the Old Town square and all it has to offer. We had breakfast at the hotel. I thought the hot buffet stuff was a bit hit or miss - some of it greasy and some of it only warm. The freshly made stuff was delicious though. A couple of tips - join the Sofitel club (free of charge) to get a 20% discount. When I booked, breakfast was advertised at £15 each per day which I never opted for. On check-in, we were offered a "special raate" for breakfast and got it for £10.
Firstly, I am British. I am genuinely not a complainer (its not our culture) - I normally just accept a bad situation, say nothing and never return. I run a business, I am in the travel industry, i worked in hotels for 30 years, i book and stay in hotels every week for the past 20years. I appreciate problems can occur but its how you fix them when they arise that is important. Turning a negative to a positive, finding solutions. This is where it all went wrong. I have to write as this is the most badly handled experience i ever had in any hotel in my life! To sum up... 1. 30/11 3pm reported no hot water (hotel response we will send an engineer) no engineer came. No room offered or alternative solutions. I had to shower in public spa. 2. 1/12 8am reported no hot water (hotel response we will send an engineer) engineer came and left. No room offered or alternative solutions. I had to shower in public spa. 3. 1/12 4pm reported no hot water (hotel response we will send an engineer) engineer came and explained that both suites (513 & 613) have a problem. No room offered or alternative solutions. I had to shower in public spa. 4. 2/12 8am reported no hot water - by this time i asked for general manager (hotel response we will send an engineer and get Manager) no engineer came. No general manager contacted me. 5. 2/12 3pm reported no hot water - no engineer came. Deputy manager contacted me. Apologised said the whole side of the building had technical problem. Said hotel is fully booked and he cannot swap me till 3/12 Offered 50% refund which he would sort out. I was given access to another room just to use the shower at 7pm (too late I had to shower in public spa again.) 6. 3/12 4pm - call from reception saying they could swap my room now. I explained i was checking out at 4am on 4/12 - i already used the shower in other room so it doesnt make sense to move to new suite for few hours. HOUSE KEEPING & SNAGGING Coffee splashes up walls in living room area socket under desk in living room does not work. Light switches to right of bed dont turn off bedroom spotlights in the window. Spa Jacuzzi needs good clean there was scum around and water was luke warm. Generally needed a refurb The spa treatments The 2 ladies that did the facial chatted to each other all the way through the treatment. My therapists stopped my treatment 3 times, left the room 3 times to chat to colleagues outside. Not relaxing at all. CLEANING – I DIDNT USE THE DO NOT DISTURB SIGN AT ANY POINT 30/11 - room clean on arrival & turndown service as expected. 1/12 room not cleaned, Bed not changed towels not changed, bins not emptied. Minibar not restocked No turndown service 2/12 11am I had to go find a cleaner in the corridor and ask her to take away 2 breakfast trolley from 1/12 & 2/12 Room not cleaned, Bed not changed towels not changed, i swapped them in spa bins not emptied. Minibar not restocked I showed the assistant manager and he said he would fix it. Housekeeping came and removed glasses, never cleaned or changed bed. Filled minibar 3/12 Room not cleaned, Bed not changed towels not changed, i had to swap for clean in spa bins not emptied. Minibar not restocked Turndown service only The whole experience has been utterly beyond words, Most seemed to want to help but nothing actually happened. The final straw was young girl Kasia on reception who was obnoxiously rude (even rolled her eyes at me) I was both embarrassed and infuriated by her behaviour at check-out, On checkout i was trying to explain to her if she could deduct the 50% pre-payment refund off what i owed (which still hasn't been rectified) as she told me no - she wanted me to pay in full as no record of this 50% was on file. I insisted that she contact a manager, she refused. Finally she told to wait 30mins at 6pm on 3/12, i waited in reception till 7.15pm and she ignored me - still nothing fixed. I can tell you 100% if i was her manager for sure she wouldn't have a job today. 1 of these things in isolation wouldn’t have generated any form of complaint as life is too short - but i really got to a situation where i felt sick with anxiety of having that i had so many stupid issues and having to repeatedly complain and being treated like i was an idiot - everything that could go wrong did. I emailed the above to the Assistant Manager who explained. There are major problem with hot water in the area of the hotel where my room was allocated. We are still investigating this case and it seems that the problem is located in the closed off part, so some heavy works will have to be carried out to resolve this issue. Ive been offered 50% refund on my pre-paid hotel. Free breakfast and an upgrade to a junior suite next time should i be brave enough to chance staying again. They did however take full payment for everything and i now await a refund taking upto 10days. The water issue affected both suites but rest of the review on cleaning, snagging was about 613 where i stayed.
The Sofitel is the perfect location for those staying in Wroclaw. 2 minute walk to the market Square. Staff very helpful and friendly, room was nice. Only downside was the very soft bed/mattress. Definitely recommend this hotel for your stay.
Good business hotel in a Modern building near market Square Lobby and bar rather small there Room ok but furniture return refreshment asap Good efficient and kind service Very Good breakfast ob the first floor Easy Access by taxi 20-30 min from the airport Good value Price /quality
Great location and most of all excellent Service like all Sofitel Hotels I've stayed so far. My only dislike concerns the noisy of the heating system which coincede of course with the air conditioning machine as well. I was lucky the room I stayed ( No. 215 ) was warm enough so I could switch it off and I slept well in any case. All the rest was top Sofitel Catergory Service as always and great breakfast.
Excellent experience. The Concierge (Christophe) was very helpful - helping us to make the most out of our short visit. Comfortable room and excellent breakfast. Location is excellent - with only a short walk to the main square.
Fantastic 5 star hotel beside old town. Could not have chosen a better hotel for comfort. luxury , exceptional customer service, amazing breakfast and fantasic location. Arramged trip for my partners birthday and on arrival we were upgraded to a deluxe room. The room was huge as was the bed, so comfortable . We were left a delicious happy birthday chocolate cake and a box of Hermes toiletries. Breakfast although slightly pricey for the area was delicious and everything freshly cooked including omelettes of your choice. The old town square was literally on our doorstep and there were a few nice bars across the street and around the hotel. I would recommend the Doctors bar for amazing cocktails and Academus is a nice cozy bar. we enjoyed the atmosphere and food and mulled wine at the Christmas market.
Sofitel Wroclaw Old Town is a very pleasant hotel with obliging staff, where any stay is connected with relaxation. Velmi příjemný hotel se vstřícným personálem, kde se jakýkoli pobyt spojuje s odpočinkem.
