Cabin #3 - Honey Pot

While building this cabin, we noticed an unusually busy group of visitors — hardworking honeybees buzzing nearby as they gathered nectar from the surrounding wildflowers. Though they were a little closer than expected, we chose to let them continue their important work, sharing the mountain space in peaceful harmony as both projects unfolded side by side.
Honeybees are remarkable creatures, traveling great distances and visiting hundreds — even thousands — of flowers each day to fill their tiny honey sacs. Watching their dedication felt like a fitting symbol of the care and effort poured into creating this special retreat. By the time construction was complete, the bees had moved on, leaving behind only the memory of their presence and the sweetness they inspired.
Today, the hive is gone, but the spirit of those industrious little builders lives on in Cabin #3 — HONEY POT. Strong, cozy, and welcoming, this cabin stands as a tribute to nature's quiet partnership in its creation.
And rest assured — the bees have long since departed. What remains is a peaceful haven filled with warmth, charm, and a touch of honey-sweet nostalgia. Welcome to the HONEY POT, where relaxation comes naturally and memories linger long after your stay.
The cabin is air-conditioned and features a kitchen and 2 bathrooms, and there's space to spread out with 3 bedrooms. Guests can enjoy a TV and stay connected with free WiFi. The bathroom offers a jetted tub and hair dryers. Other standard amenities include a washing machine, a fireplace, and a coffee maker.

Great peaceful getaway

Our cabin was in a perfect spot for enjoying the view. It was very clean. The hot tub was amazing. The cabin was also close enough to walk to the lodge for delicious meals at the restaurant. We loved our stay. We just wish we had stayed longer.

Fun weekend stay!

I booked this cabin for my boyfriends surprise birthday weekend! It was a lot of fun and great views. The only complaints we had was the hot tub didn’t get very hot and took hours to warm up, as well as no Ubers would drive on the mountain but that was not a fault on Lydia. We will be back!

Loved our stay at Honey Pot!

Honey Pot was a great location for our Sisters and Nieces Reunion! We loved the cozy cabin and the decks/porches to see the autumn leaves fall. It was a great jumping off place for the hiking we did along Skyline Drive and beyond. It has a very open floor plan which was fine for us, but does not offer much privacy or sound dampening. Also, because of the cabin design, the lighting was dim after dark, and made it difficult to read. A couple floor lamps would help! Everyone we met at Lydia Lodge was sweet and helpful. Thank you for a wonderful visit!

Honeypot cabin

Two families stayed in the Honeypot Cabin for the weekend and had a delightful time. We liked the location, and were able to walk to the lodge for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning, which was absolutely delicious! The cabin was cozy, and we were able to cook inside, as well as grill outside. One night we enjoyed a movie night, and the other night we had a game night. We hiked on some of the trails at Lydia Mountain, and we also drove to skyline drive to hike. All in all, it was a beautiful weekend filled with great memories and accommodations. Thank you!

So disappointed

After reading reviews we were looking so forward to our stay. I understand this is a cabin in the woods, but there were so many bugs inside the cabin it was ridiculous. There was an infestation of caterpillar/worm things in the lower level, not to mention crickets and Granddaddy long legs all over the ceiling. There were dead bugs and dirt in the main level bathroom when we arrived as well. Even those things could be set aside as nuisances, but the big issue was the horrible beds. The main level bed is so hard and uncomfortable it gave me back spasms and I had to stay in the recliner. The beds in the lower level are old and you can feel the springs. My adult children could not sleep and ended up suffering from back pains and headaches. The futon was so terrible it was no better. I had to leave after the first night because my back was screwed up and I had a severe migraine from no sleep. I completely missed our family reunion. Even the air hockey table in the basement was broken. The hot tub cover did not adequately cover it, so there was lots of debris in the hot tub. As much as your facility charges year round, my expectation would be that the beds would be decent and some kind of pest control would be used. It would not cost much to fix the air hockey table, and last but not least, proper housekeeping should be done. We looked forward to this reunion for many months and to say I’m disappointed is an understatement. I cannot recommend this place at all. Invest in decent beds and fix what is broken. Half the patio lights were burned out as well. Maintenance is necessary if you want repeat business. We had four different cabins rented for four nights. We will not be back.
