City Place St. Louis - Downtown Hotel

3.5 out of 5.0

Let's start with the front desk, ummm...lazy women & weren't helpful in what's in St. Louis. The hotel was shabby, it hasn't been touched in awhile. When u ask for something for your room...ummm, yea right, you ain't getting it. So overall...this hotel got an "F"...absolutely, never again.

It was great! We will be staying here again, great location, great price. Staff was friendly. We had 6 adults in our room and a roll away bed and still had enough room. Room is very spacious.

Hotel has gone downhill since changing to City Place

Floors stained.. wallpaper peeling , hair on hangers in closet , bed had to be remade sheets were on top .. no in room air conditioning ....

Im torn, the staff was a little helpful and the room was large, had a balcony and an amazing view of the Arch. However, there was no concierge service to recommend restaurants or to help a traveler in any way whatsoever. But the biggest most glaring issue was the lack of cleanliness. The place was downright disgusting!! Fingerprints all over the glasses (like gross amounts-used??). Then the toilet was sealed crooked onto the floor, it was so weird. The bathroom was ipdated but had probably not been really cleaned since that happened...toothpaste on mirror and walls. It really was a shame. There is a lot of potential there but the fact that there want a map or a lesson to help a traveler then the disgusting state of the room is just unacceptable in this day and age. Oh, also...no room book with times, restaurants, menus, tv channels...really missed that as we tried to figure out the tv.

It's over-priced for what you get. It was much more run down than I expected for that price. Housekeeping was lacking - for instance, there was a large pile of linens left outside our door for 24 hours, and they didn't bring more coffee supplies when they cleaned the room.

The people are fantastic but this hotel is in dire need of a facelift. Every wall is banged, nicked, and/or scratched.

We got a suite with a King size bed and a sofa sleeper for the kids. It was ok for the most part, but a lot of little things needed fixed. Stains on couch, walls of bathrooms, no wash rags, no sheets for the fold out couch, the room must've not been stayed in for a while because there was a thin layer of dust on everything. Last, the stupid hairdryer was broke. Potential fire hazard! I'll come back and stay, it's only a few blocks from the stadium!

The location was great and it was probably a nice hotel at one time. It is outdated and the patio area had broken glass everywhere.

Terrible hotel and dirty, would not recommend to anyone.

The staff was friendly. The property walls , elevators, bathrooms, tubs are in serious need of restoration. It appears they did a half @@@ attempt to update hotel.. room smelled like vomit by window.. the business center had 2 printers both were out of ink. Never return again

You can't beat the location for the price. But I doubt the staff could be any worse if they tried. The property looks like it could have once been a great hotel. Now, it is sadly forgotten and neglected... also, did I mention how awful the staff was?

I've stayed in this hotel twice now. The first time was a more enjoyable experience. Yes it is an old building but the air conditioning did not work and all the manager could say is "it should kick on around 7". Well when it's hot in the room and you check in at 2..waiting until 7pm is very UNCOMFORTABLE. I also had called in for a TV remote because the room was missing one. It took them about 4 hours to get it to us. Staff was nice, just extremely slow and I was disappointed we weren't even offered a new room that had air.

The room was neat and generally well kept, although aged. There was a lot of space. The bathroom is SMALL with a small shower, and almost NO hot water. If we were lucky there was enough hot water for one shower. Never enough for two showers in the morning. The bathroom linens were replaced regularly but sometimes by only one set. The desk attendants seemed to be bothered when we arrived to check in and also when we checked out.

Needs to be updated. Especially since it's a downtown hotel.

Hotel shuttle doesn't work and hasn't for a long time, so why do they have it parked there like it can be used. The hotel staff was very friendly though, and they went out of their way to assist when needed. The property is a bit dated though but they still keep in nice and clean.

The hotel clearly needs to be refurbished. The hallways and common areas are filthy, peeling pain and wallpaper. Rooms were clean; staff was fair (some were good, some were rude). It's just not a nice hotel

Great view of Arch... Thats it,,, everything else about hotel was not good at all... I am a huge fan of the St. Louis area.... This hotel for first time business travelers or visitors to area would leave a very sour taste I suspect...

The room was a good size in living area and kitchen.
