A nice little place with a few issues.
The check-in was easy, but there was an immediately noticeable issue. Upon entering the residence, we were startled by a smell resembling sewer gases. We called the after hours # and were told that the smell of the unit is the number one reason that they get calls about this rental. The area underneath the rental exposes mud when the tide is out, and a rotten marshy smell fills the unit. We were relieved that this was not a safety issue, but the rental description should have made this known. However, I do recognize that if this condition is mentioned it may steer people clear of renting the property. The cleanliness was good, no sand or soiled surfaces. The washing machine did have wads of long black hair and a slimy texture inside, but we cleaned it out thoroughly upon arrival. Dish soap, clean towels, utensils, and dishwasher pods were neatly provided. The main issue we had about this unit was the air conditioning. The morning of day#1 seemed hot inside, and I checked the thermostat which showed a temp setting of 73, however, the temp inside was 83 degrees. I have the same brand of thermostat at my primary residence so I am very proficient with its operation. I made sure that everything was set correctly to cool the unit, but it continued to expel warm air. I called the hotline again and was redirected to the emergency contact, there was no answer. I tried a second time with no answer. We suffered with heat all week, it was hard to sleep. Still a good trip.
