Hotel Caravelle

3.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Nice, clean, good location for access to restaurants (e.g.: Rum Runners, Angry Nates, Shupes, You Are Here), gift shops & dive boats (e.g.: S.C.U.B.A.'s Reliance), tours (e.g.: Big Beards), and a 5 minute walk from the ferry you can take to enjoy the beach over at Hotel on the Cay ($5/person, free kids under 12, round trip). Pool is decent-sized & 3-8 feet deep. Handy onsite ATM ($3 fee). Our 2 queen beds were comfortable. Minor things can take awhile to fix; soda machine ran out of diet coke for at least 3 days. Tropical storm dumped over 5 inches of rain & threw off the pool chemistry, shutting the pool down 3 days, but the hotel spontaneously provided us $15 to use to take our little girl via ferry to the beach at Hotel on the Cay. Due to renovation they had us park at an off-site parking lot a block or so away. That should be short term. Air conditioning worked fine. We had a safe and mini-fridge but no microwave.

Very convenient to everything! Minutes from great dining, the fort and waterfront.

The check in process was smooth, the front desk staff was very professional & hospitable. The room that we chose was a standard room in which we were ok with. The bed was extremely comfortable. The only issue that I had was the cleanliness, in which was rectified immediately. My boyfriend spoke with management and Ms. Christine at the front desk, made sure that we were moved to another room (actually an upgraded room).

View was lovely, shopping in the area just across the street. Its always nice to visit St. Croix!

Fourth time I stay at this hotel. Everytime my trip is due to the 70.3 Ironman hosted at St. Croix. Hotel location is near the start/finish line, it has a swimming pool, it has a good restaurant (Rum Runners) and it's in the heart of Christiansted downtown. This time I had some issues with the air conditioning and the day I left (early in the morning) there was no staff to help me with my bags (and bicycle) so I give 3 stars instead of the 4 I would have given. Hotel has a good price/quality balance.

The hotel was beautiful on the harbor great views. The staff was wonderful. Would've given it 5 stars if I didn't have to walk up two flights of stairs. No elevator, other than that wonderful hotel even has a small casino. Jones Family 2017

Cute little hotel located right on the boardwalk next to the best restaurants in town: Angry Nates, 40 Strand, Cafe Fresco and other good little breakfast/lunch places like baked cafe and avocado pitt (write these down!!) i loved it here. My boyfriend and I had an amazing, unforgettable time. We went snorkeling with big beards (their office is located inside this hotel!!) we fell in love with each other over and over again every day. I wish i could rewind the time and be in this hotel again. I absolutley love this hotel and the staff is so sweet. COME HERE!!!!!its seriously conveniant to EVERYTHING, im talking taxi service, activities, events, restaurants***, bars. And when you want to hit the beach all you have to do is grab a 5 dollar ferry ride located 30 steps away from this hotel and in 2 minutes you're at the most beuatiful beach EVER!! BOOK THIS HOTEL and thank me later.

The Caravelle was in the perfect location for us. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. The hotel staff could not have been better.

Nice, affordable, great location. The view from the room is great. Plenty of bars nearby.

Getting the AC, and for that matter the shower to run at desired temperature was a learning process but got the hang of it after a few tries. I gather the rooms all remodeled recently and very crisp and tidy. Nice open and breezy public areas. I paid $100/night and was a fair price.

I stayed here for one night at the end of a trip and had a great experience. I was unable to check-in early but was able to leave my bags while out around the island and the staff was very helpful. The room was very nice and appeared recently redone. The view of the pier and water was very nice from the room I was in. There is also a convenient parking lot for guests.

Caravalle is an older hotel in a beautiful location overlooking the boardwalk and ocean. For a short stay, it does the job.

My mother, brother, and I came out to St. Croix to settle my brother into UVI. This is a cute hotel situated right on the harbor. Our room was very nice because it overlooked the harbor. My mother and I managed to visit a few restaurants in the area. Staying here was very tranquil and lovely. Would recommend.

Sept 19th - Pool did not have water Resturant rum runners were closed Beds where hard an linens had cigarette holes an patch work sewing done Daliah (lady with dreads) was off the chain she was very helpful an courteous St. John weekenders

I've traveled around the world, and have stayed in several hotels. This by far is the worst experience that I have ever encountered. My room had to be changed twice. The first room had no A/C on humid, 98 degree days and there were roaches. The mattresses were lumpy and linens had someone else's hair on them. We had to stay in the room because there was no PM receptionist to transfer us. The next day, they provided us a new room with A/C, but that was as good as it got. The rooms both had molded ceilings and showers, filthy unclean showers, moldy and stained carpeting, roaches and ants, doors that were previously broken into and not fixed, grimy light switches and on, and on. The ONLY great thing about the hotel was that it was right on the boardwalk and the employees were accommodating.

I was returning to my island of birth for the first time in 15 years. This hotel provided the luxury, location, and sea views that made this trip extra special. My Mother lived just blocks away, and was able to meet me every morning.

The location of this hotel was excellent, the food was good. This hotel is old so this mean a deep cleaning should be done in the rooms. When you enter to the room bad smell and mattress were old. There were three construction panel underneath the bed. First day we open the room door and there was a giant roacher which I kill with my shoe. I left it in one corner of the room to see if next day maid will notice. I stay four days and when I left the roacher still in the same place. The location was great, the food but room cleaning FFFFF.

The staff is great the room is fine - had a great trip.

Hotel is in a perfect location, despite being old hotel with imperfections it's a good location if you don't want to get a cab to be near several restaurants or the tours for BUCK ISLAND....you wake up and you're in the boardwalk and can have your breakfast in front of the water....can't get any better than that.

The hotel is conveniently located and offered just what i needed for a quick business trip. It was on the board walk and right near the "action" in St. X. It had free wireless and free parking. the room was clean though not lavish.I'd stay there again.
