Went here as a large group for 2 nights and all seemed to enjoy the stay. The hotel itself is a little worn down and could do with a revamp just to take the edge off. The staff that worked here all seemed to be very friendly and couldn't do enough to help us.The room is a nice size and all seem to have balcony's that have an amazing view of the surrounding area. The food is good with a large range in the buffet for breakfast and dinners. Would highly recommend.

This hotel has good views of Kandy Lake as it is up a very narrow, steep road which gets congested with parked cars, so if driven here make sure your driver can get out when required. On arrival we were given a room that looked nice with a balcony but overlooked the tin roof of the extended part of the restaurant and is very ugly so fortunately we were able to move to a room in the newer part of the hotel which was very nice, with views of the lake but you could hear the noise from the road. The hotel is very well located for the temple, cultural show, lake and new shopping centre as all are within walking distance as long as you can cope with the steep road. Breakfast was OK as were most of the staff, but it’s a strange hotel with lots of bits built on (and still being built). I think the comfort of your room would depend on which building you are in.

I have been patronizing this hotel for couple of times during my visits to Kandy and happened to stay in the 1st week of SEP 2017 which eventually ended up being the worst of all . From the booking to the check out everything was non systematic and approach of the staff was unprofessional and unforgivable Front office Staff promised a room on a higher floor yet they ignored my request and offered a room on a ground level which we refused to stay .I made 2 rooms booking for 1 and 2 nights .The bed linen looked horribly old and torn and stains .No slippers no tissue boxes no hot water in the rooms . We canceled our booking and checked in to another hotel in Kandy . There is a female staff working at the Receptionist counter who is full of attitude and throw tantrums at guests . She picks up unnecessary arguments with all the guests and never listens . Better she learns the industry and have some respect towards the guest , None stays there FOC . So is the waiter who brought my dinner to the room . Overall rooms are smaller and very old. They have a higher category which is ok and spacious . I was surprised to see the bed linen torn and stained . Stay away from this property ! They better focus on the service standards and quality of the staff if they need to provide an excellent service to their discerning guests ! Unreommended for the said reasons and we all faced the situations .

A beautiful setting overlooking Kandy and lake. Rooms were large and perfectly adequate. Breakfast had good choices. Monkeys playing on property were entertaining although as warned don't have good on the balcony because they will scare you when they arrive to steal it. Close to temple and cultural show.

My husband and I stayed in the hotel for 2 nights. I'm quite particular about cleanliness, so was glad that the room was spacious and clean. The buffet dinner spread was great @ LKR1800/pax. The staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, it was a pleasant stay.

Hotel is nearby the Kandy center so no need to arrange transfer to get to Buddha temple. Beautiful view to the city. Rooms are clean and big enough. Swimming pool in the hotel is a big plus. Staff is very helpful. A good restaurant.

Stayed 2 nights. Our room overlooked the skyline of town and the restaurant. Our twin room was large, plenty of room for 2 and was beautifully decorated . Our room had a lovely balcony which attracted the attention of the monkeys in the area. The breakfast and dinner buffet had plenty of choice, Western and Sri Lankan food. We found the restaurant was loud and crowded most times. They also have a quartet that goes from table to table doing requests. If you engage their services you need to tip them.

The hotel staff was very unfriendly with the exception of the duty manger , rooms are very old and unclean with no view , over all very disappointing experience in Kandy , the hotel is highly unrecommended

We stayed for 2 nights and the hotel was very comfortable, with large rooms with good view of the lakes. The staff were lovely and very attentive and the dinner and breakfast buffets was very good with an excellent choice. The restaurant was very nice indeed. In a great location. Would recommend.

You can get better service and nicer room with this cost. Pros: 1- High place away of road noise. Cons: The roof of below floor prevent enjoying the balcony view. My terrible experience with this hotel: 1- I booked superior room with balcony though Booking.com. Upon the chick-in they did it quickly and took me to small room next the pool. The guy started taking nicely about the room in a wearied way until I discovered it's not my room. I asked him to get my luggage back to front-disk and left the room. There, they told me that's the only available room so take it or leave it. So, Asked for a refund and started contacting Booking.com. At that moment and out of the sky, a Balcony Room became available!! 2- at the breakfast at the egg station, I asked for omelette. It was burned as the chef was busy flirting Indian girl. I asked for new one and left to fruit table, to discover when I get back to egg station that, he just flipped the same burned omelette. That moment I get mad and started call for the manger who saw the omelette just perfect and wondered why I need a new One. My advice: Pay for your comfort and relax at another hotel but not Thilanka.
