Very good facilities for a city Hotel. The new year eve was very well organised and Buffet was fantastic. Rooms are very good but some people of our group have problems with internet and hot water. Kandy is the old capital city with many interesting sights to visit.
Have been to this hotel many times. the last time when i went all had been changed. rooms have been upgraded and it was amazing. the food was average but tasty. staff is very friendly. the location is very good as it is very close to the city and world famous temple of the tooth relic. Not an expensive hotel when compared with other hotels in the area.
The rooms are large and the side that I stayed on the view I had was the bottom of the road. The hotel is on high steep and if you walk one has to be very careful because you can roll from the top to the bottom. There is no wheelchair provisions. We book half board and was amazed the first night we were given our supper all dished into one one plate. Just one piece of chicken which was so stale and not appealing. From the rooms the lift only brings you to the dining area and from there you have to walk down a flight of steps to reception. I wonder it somebody is on a wheelchair you have be carried them down. This is a very old hotel and constant banging and maintenance works were carried out. When I complained about the food all they ask is there anything I can do for you.
Although we stayed only 1 days it was a very relaxing & peaceful stay where we were at one with nature. Nothing was too much trouble to sort out for us if we wanted to eat something that wasn't on the set menu. The food was divine and the staff were all outstanding. Friendly and warm and I would definitely stay there again.
Wanted to give 5 stars to this hotel because everything about this hotel is amazing except their restaurant supervisor (dont know his name) who denied us to sit on certain tables for breakfast as he wanted to save them (without reservation plates) for white skin guests. He asked us to sit on a table without any table cloth and cutlery, when we questioned he acted smart by saying that this is a special chairman table (whattt!!!! exactly my reaction then) this incident made me notice that actually all brown skin guests were sitting in a separate section of the restaurant whereas white skin guests were seated at window facing tables with nice view. However, i do want to mention that the hotel and the room was beautiful and clean and rest of the staff were courteous and polite. Food was average except baked items in breakfast which were delicious. Overall, its a nice hotel with good location, not too far from the city.
We had the sound of drills as welcome ! The Restaurant is old and looks dirty ... thé swimming pool and outside areas not maintained, the food is so so ...the rooms are renovated but you have laders in front of your windows and the sealing of the balcony falls apart... runnaway from this hotel there is far better in Kandy!
Photos and reviews looked great, so booked to stay here but checked out immediately the next day. Considering it’s 4* and not cheap, there was no hot water! But more frustrating was the staffs reaction to this - it took us 45 minutes and constant phone calls and trips to the reception to get anyone to even look at the room. And when there was still no hot water the next day (not to mention really poor WiFi/terrible tv signal and being woken with construction work above our room very early) we spent most of the morning arguing with the staff for some form of compensation. They eventually agreed to take 10% off our bill. The experience was stressful and we’d never come back here or recommend to anyone.
#204 Clean Room Outstanding Food And Service , Restaurant staff very friendly always smiling. nice pool also always pol towels available. fast cheeking and super fast checkout . i strongly Recommend this hotel to others
1. Well kept hotel with nice renovated rooms. 2. Happy to help staff. 3. Good Location and view. 4. Nice swimming pool but may not be used due to cold weather. 5. Affordable and high quality hotel. 6. Lavish breakfast spread with multiple options. Overall very good hotel near city centre but away from city chaos. Very good for families and even couples.
The photos on booking sites were quite good and therefore we were disappointed right at the beginning because of the not so nice lobby and old looking couches at the reception. The elevator smelled of dust and was a little unpleasant. however they had renovated the top two/three floors and the rooms were comfortable. We made the reservation for two double rooms with a double bed in each room but one of the rooms had two single beds. when inquired at the front desk we were told that they have limited double beds which is not at all a good excuse and disappoint if it were a couple. luckily one of the double rooms were for myself alone and therefore we let it go. the bathrooms were also not the best because the wash basins were located out of the bath room and was kind of inconvenient. The highlight of the hotel was there calipso team who were actually very good compared to most we hear at hotels. also the food was quite good taste wise and there were some really tasty items in the buffet. From the look of the pool, it was not very appealing and therefore even though the weather was ideal for a dip in the pool, we skipped that. Overall not very satisfied with the stay.
