After 10 days of travelling this was the perfect hotel to put our feet up and enjoy a bit of luxury before heading home. The staff were great. The waiting staff were extremely attentive, polite and friendly. The pool staff were also extremely attentive. The food was quite expensive compared to locally priced food but was very tasty and there was plenty of variety. The breakfast was outstanding. The hotel was immaculate and the housekeeping service was excellent. We were pleasantly surprised with our farewell turndown service on our last evening from Gihau. See photos :)
We stayed for 3 nights and loved every minute! A combination of historical architecture and modern comfort makes for a unique experience. The Sri Lankan breakfasts are a must try! But it is the amazing staff who blew us away with personable service and warmth that outclasses even 5 star properties. Thank you especially to Kosuni and Sena! Keep doing what you do so well!
Tamarind Hill is a gem near Galle, tucked away down a dirt road, which leads you to this magnificent property. Our Crayford room was enormous and the bed was the biggest I've ever slept in!! The bathroom was particularly lovely, opening onto a private courtyard, bringing the outside in. Amenities were high quality and the welcome fruit on arrival and evening cookies in our room each night was a special touch. We didn't use the pool but it is set in a lovely garden area, near The Lounge, which is a beautiful place to sit and have a cuppa or cocktail. Tamarind Hill is a very elegant boutique hotel and it's not surprising it is in the elite group of being a Small Luxury Hotel of the World. Dinners were superb and served outdoors and the breakfasts were divine, especially the Sri Lankan option. We loved our stay at Tamarind Hill and it was made even more special by the exceptional staff who couldn't do enough to make us feel at home. Particular mention goes to Executive Chef Silva, chef Mithun Dilshan, waiter Sangeeth, Restaurant & Bar Manager Senarath and Gihan, who carried my bag for me. If you on the Sri Lankan south coast, make sure you stay at Tamarind Hill. It is a delight to experience.
The service was very good. The grounds and rooms were gorgeous. The swimming pool was beautiful! Breakfast and the Sri Lankan lunch/dinner at the hotel were very nice. It was an easy tuk tuk ride to Galle Fort. Highly recommended!
A super, small, hotel in a beautifully restored colonial building. The rooms are spacious and extremely well appointed, all opening onto a courtyard garden. As you would expect from such a small operation the staff and service were excellent. The breakfast was good (waiter service as opposed to a buffet) , worth trying the local breakfast option if you like curry. Whilst Galle is hardly a heaving metropolis the hotel is definitely an oasis of calm and the pool (a proper one) was extremely welcome. Spent three nights here with our family (three children) and would happily return. Take a five minute walk to the nearby turtle rescue "sanctuary "and also have supper at the Jetwings Lighthouse hotel at the end of the drive ( a good wine list by Sri Lankan standards). Situated circa 2 km from Galle Town centre – five minutes by tuk tuk.
We stayed here for 3 days and would happily return. It is a beautiful and quiet space, although just a tuk tuk ride to the action in Galle, Our room was large and so well designed, with a small private patio and an immense bathroom. I was most impressed with the attention to detail; every item seems so carefully chosen and the overall effect is quite lovely. In addition, the staff could not be friendlier or more welcoming. We felt well taken care of each day. The food was also excellent; they clearly have a talented chef. The only improvement I would suggest is more vegetarian and vegan food; this would not be difficult given the product and fruits in Sri Lanka and would provide more options for guests. I did, however, have the best pineapple/banana smoothie ever. And did I mention the rabbits, the peacocks, sea eagles, turtles.... Highly highly recommended.
A warm welcome to this charming place, a haven of calm and tranquillity after the busy town and Fort area. The room was lovely, very comfortable and spacious. Quite surprised to find it had a pool, very nice. Lovely bar area and very good al fresco dining. We will definitely come again.

We chose Tamarind Hotel for our daughters birthday. It was a very quiet and beautiful hotel, we were welcomed by a peacock who was roaming in the garden. My daughter was so thrilled to see a peacock so close. The quality of food is excellent.. the rooms are very spacious and clean. The staff are very helpful and well trained in handling situation specially a staff by the name "Sangeeth" was really helpful.
