Arrived late due missed transfer, so arrived 4.30 am . Had a deluxe room and hotel had organised transfer . Woke up to an amazing view , pure tranquility. The room was lovely , spacious and clean . We were the only couple staying here which for us was perfection especially after a longer than expected journey. We were treated to our own table and the staff could not of done more to make us feel welcome . It was so nice we didn't venture out of the hotel for our 5 nights as the food was all excellent , they even catered for myself who doesn't eat onion veg or salad .breakfasts were great too . It was low season and the menu was limited e.g. No fish although we did ask and thought the hotel could of gone and stocked up also they did run out of alcohol . We will definitely return to this hotel asap if you are looking for peace and quiet in a beautiful location totally recommend .
Very pleasant stay. Setting tranquil with beautiful scenery. Staff were extremely helpful. So overall it was a good experience. However, because our stay was for a week - I found that we were restricted in taking walks - would have been great if we had a path to walk on along the waters edge.
Perhaps we had been spoiled in the week leading up to our stay here, but when we arrived we honestly couldn't really tell who was working at the place or a guest. No one helped with our bag and there was no one about later on to offer any advice about the local area. The next day a more helpful man appeared but all in all we weren't particularly impressed. Also the wifi was not working because they had run out of data for the month. All that said, the room was nice and clean and its a very calm setting.
after 3weeks travelling through sri lanka , this was the perfect place to come to rest , before flying back to belgium . lagoon rooms have a superb view staff is extremely friendly and food lovely , although a little bit more expensive
I booked this place looking for a week of total relaxation and that's exactly what I got. The setting is unbelievably picturesque and quiet. The lake view is simply breathtaking. The luxury room was spotlessly clean and the staff so helpful. The restaurant cannot be praised enough as they have excellent chefs - the lemongrass prawns have to be tried. I spent my days either paddling on the lake in one of the courtesy canoes or lounging by the pool switching between a book and admiring the view. I was joined throughout the week by other family members who all ended up extending their stays, and like me, they will be back, again and again. Thank you to all at Kalla Bongo for making my vacation time with you so fabulous and restful.
We found this hotel on our way back up to Colombo from Galle. It's away from the business and dirtiness of Hikkaduwa town and boasts a stunning view over the lake. The restaurant is also absolutely incredible although on the pricey side. Great hotel for couples wanting relaxation. Owners also very hospitable.
What a superb small hotel. Ideal for a short break from Colombo. Close to the bustle of Hikkaduwa yet ideally situated with wonderful views over the lake. Changing colours and ripple of the water is blissfully peaceful. A great pool, and excellent. restaurant. The curry and rice is a delight. And very helpful staff lead by Chandrana. It is a superb find and we will be back.
Peaceful, relaxed environment. Excellent service and a friendly management/staff. Delicious food. We were on a company day out and had a really good time at Kalla Bongo. Everything was perfect and beyond our expectations. No hesitations on recommending this place to anyone who will want to have a memorable travel experience. So far, this is one of the best places i have ever been to. I Seriously love this place and will visit again for sure........
Stayed one night as a resting place travelling from Galle to Negombo. The hosts and staff were very welcoming and attentive. A nice view of the lake, especially from the restaurant. The food was delicious, particularly at dinner when I ordered the cordon bleu and my other half had the seared tuna. Didn't use the pool due to the thunderstorm and even though we were stuck in our room, it was great as we watched the lightning in complete darkness. Wifi was good enough for us to stream a film! We felt that the hosts were just lovely and genuine, they kindly walked us out as our driver arrived for our next destination.
Clean and well-maintained grounds and buildings. Accommodation consists of individual apartments overlooking a large lake; the view is superb - breathtaking and tranquil. Tranquility is a big draw here - most accommodation on Hikkaduwa is located on the main road meaning a constant stream of traffic and tooting horns, however Kalla Bongo is located 2km inland, no passing traffic or noisy neighbours! A tuk tuk to the beach costs 300 rupees and the hotel staff will happily arrange for one to pick you up. Rooms are clean and well-sized with an outside area to enjoy the views. The restaurant serves a fantastic breakfast, lunch and dinner. All the staff were genuinely friendly, attentive and helpful. A perfect place to stay!
