Old hotel building which needs a full renovation, rooms are basic/poor. Poor pool/beach furniture, need new beds Trying to make extra money organizing wedding with loud music til late. Location is great
The Tranz was our last stop on a family Sri Lankan holiday. Our children said they felt the safest at this hotel. The rooms were comfortable and the facilities great. One of our rooms wasn’t the cleanest, but clean enough. Staff were very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast buffet was good.
Whilst we weren’t staying at the hotel, we decided to go for lunch at the restaurant and use the pool facility. They offer a package for this at 3000 Rupees, which is very reasonable. The pool was great and well maintained. The lunch was really good - it was a buffet with a large spread of various cuisines. Show-stopper at this place was definitely the desert on offer, really special, especially the chocolate mousse! If you’re looking for something different than the usual restaurants in the area, this is a great spot. Being a Cinnamon property, the level of service was excellent and the interior was classy.
Hotel is situated in a beautiful location. Lovely hotel with sandy beaches around. Food was tasty with lovely spread. The staff were very friendly and attentive. But poor management. Hotel is not maintained up to as a cinnamon group of hotel.
Visited Hikka Tranz last month for two nights with Family, it was nice experience. Good food and service altogether, good spread and quality. Friendly staff and good atmosphere, really loved the pool!
Hikka Tranz is a home-away-from home for my family, having vacationed here since 2012. The place keeps getting better and better, and special mention must be made of the Saturday dinner buffet with an amazing seafood spread! Extremely comfortable rooms and friendly efficient staff. Already looking forward to our next stay!
I have visited the hotel twice but first time was so amazing compared to the second visit with my family. on second visit, we had to wait for a little while to check-in, but the customer service is super great. Indeed, the staff made us feel warm and special until the very end. The view from the room was so great on first visit but not so happy about the view of the rooms on last time. Love the international breakfast and wide variety of food available for lunch and dinner. Overall food and buffet was lovely and delicious. Though room facilities and decors were outdated and old, cleanliness, room service and housekeeping were comparatively better. Good for families, especially with kids.
We decided not to eat the ‘cruise style’ buffet and went for the ‘al a Carte ‘ menu. We then chose 1 glass of house Chardonnay (950), 1 beer (350), and 2 entrees worth a combined (1050). From there it all went down hill. The wine was a cheap Chilean drop possibly straight from the flask. The beer was coolish and the entrees were incredibly poor. The crab pockets were the size of an Australian 20 cent piece. There were 2 of them on a huge plate. I actually laughed when the waiter put the plate in front of me. The prawn entree was bigger and consisted of 4 small prawns. After we shared the 4 bite entree we decided to give the main a miss and have it elsewhere. Just when we thought things were bad enough we were presented with the bill. When you add up the above the total comes to 2350. Nope. Wrong. The bill was 3230. Apparently this tourist trap charges government tax of 22% and a mammoth 15% service charge. A 37% additional charge that brought our pathetic meal to $28 Australian. So, overall, give it a miss. The best part was the actual service. I wonder how much of the service charge actually ends up with the staff. You’ve been warned!!!
It was 14th of April and it was a busy day since it was Sinhala and Tamil New Year day. We departed soon after all the rituals were done taking the southern highway around 1315hrs. By the time we got there was around 1500hrs and the service from the moment we stepped in was excellent! We literally did not had to ask for help the staff was always taking the first step to come to us with a such a great warm smile and welcome! At the check in we were offered cinnamon ice tea and fresh face towels to refresh ourselves which was a great start and relax. Even though it took sometime to process the check in which we understood as it was crowded due to holiday season but it didn’t effect us as they made it very easy and comfortable for us. The introduction given by the staff while accompanying us to our room was great and very friendly. The view from the room was so great with the beautiful Indian Ocean and the sunset. The buffet was great also the setup of the outdoor dining area closer to the ocean is the best. Apart from that the room facilities, housekeeping service,in room dining service up to the check out process was the best. I wish if I could have stayed for more than one night stay and probably on my next stay. Definitely looking forward for my next stay with this amazing place and staff!
Food , housekeeping and bell desk - they sleep the entire day probably . Dint even bother to clean our room or place water bottles after 6 times reminder. Made the place too big to manage . Won’t recommend this place . Walk 200 m and you have better choices .
