I stayed at the hotel on 18th to 20th Dec 2017 on full board basis. Got a nice room with a balcony facing the indian ocean overlooking the large swimming pool. Staff and Food was also good. Had a working Wifi connection although it not the fastest. Beach is safe for a nice bath and you can go for coral seeing also. Overall a great experience.
The good thing about this place is location and a wide beachfront that they have. All rooms have small balconies facing the sea, so view is good. But everything is overhyped on various reviewing sites. The rooms are small and cramped for space. We had booked a family room and it was the same room as a double room, only a small bed was substituted for the couch. It was priced in excess of double occupancy, however the space provided was not adequate. The check in was too slow and they took quite some time to get us into our room. Most disappointing thing was attitude of the staff. It felt that everyone was just interested in making you spend. When relaxing on the poolside or the chairs overlooking the sea, the servers would constantly bother you with enquiries for food or drinks.....that got irritating at times. We were on a breakfast inclusive plan, and since it was recommended, we tried the buffet dinner on both the days of our stay. It was overpriced by Sri Lankan standards and both days we felt that quality of things was average. We missed trying many other recommended restaurants that we could have gone to instead. The hotel was well occupied with good number of guests. That is why live counters at buffet involved a lot of waiting. The staff / chef attitude was also found wanting there. For example, there was a counter for Kottu, which is a Sri Lankan mash of wheat bread (roti) with onions, non vegetarian items and spices, prepared on a large tawa (pan) with musical noise of big knives cutting the mash while it cooks. This old chef was making it, and I ordered one with thicken. When I started eating it, it was full of small bone pieces!! When I gave that feedback to the chef, instead of acknowledging that, he got offended and said that is the way he cooks it and I should have told him if I wanted it boneless! Imagine..... Having a mash like thing where you can't visually differentiate one ingredient from another, full of small bone pieces..... How will you eat that? One more cheap gesture that I saw for the first time in my tourist life was that hotel staff visited the room to physically check the minibar on the day of checkout and then locked it! I get the impression that this hotel is used to getting cheap crowds and more discerning or family tourist should stay away and explore other options.
We have just checked in. The first room smelt of mildew so we were moved. Whilst the second room smells of bleach it is obvious there is a dangerous health issue as the room is full of black mould and the bathroom is filthy- photos attached. Unfortunately we have three days here. The rooms are seriously neglected - we will spend as little time as possible in them. The staff don't seem interested in the problems. Whatever you do book elsewhere.
Good location, nice grounds, great counter staff, good food, fair pool but... Very poor room cleanliness, non functioning room safe, blocked shower drain, fluctuating shower temperature, room wasn't dusted once while we were there, faulty TV etc. Can't really recommend this hotel but it's probably the best in Hikkaduwa. Which don't say much for Hikkaduwa, but that's another story!
The best in this great hotel was the help from the staf - especially mr Ashan - who solved a big problem for us: we had forgotten a bag in Colombo airport. He was a great support. He helped us with contact to the right authorities, making a letter etc etc. without this help it would have been a nightmare - so THANKS A LOT. The facilities, surroundings etc was marvelous. Thanks for the stay.
This is our 5th Visit to Hikka Trans by Cinnamon. I love this place and one of my favorite hotel in Common. Lots of good moments. Superb Location if you want to enjoy Hikkaduwa Beach and the Coral Rock. Specious Rooms with Ocean View and you have everything in your room. I love the verandah next to the room. Fabulous Foods as always. You can count on Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts. Highly recommended to local and foreign travellers. One of the best and my first choice in Hikkaduwa.
Went with my family for the lunch buffet on Sunday. The food is excellent with great selection! Staff is really nice. The restaurant staff and of course Nayomi, the exceptional Life-stylist at the front desk. She looked after us very well during the short period of our stay. My little son couldn’t leave her & go! We look forward our next stay soon!
Went with my family during the summer vacation. Great place with very friendly staff. Food was excellent, huge buffet with varieties of food. Pool is really nice and clean. Rooms are spacious with a large balcony area opened to the beach side. Very close to the beach,, we enjoyed our stay. Thank u Cinnamon.
Room - Dated, was supposed to be an upgrade but i have no idea how they call this an upgrade. Reek of raw sewage coming from the washroom. Was too tired to complain and shift rooms again. Room service - tried to order a snack room service, no menu in room asked for one which came 20 minutes late, food came an hour later, cold. Restaurant/buffet - clearly they target quantity not quality. Front desk / checkout - Overcharged my travel companion 9000rs when checking out. Staff said that they cant refund due to system. Staff not at all helpful, they admitted it was their mistake but they cant refund ? Wanted to speak to a manager who is conveniently at meeting (both times). Asked if we could use it as credit on the same day, the staff said only one couple can do so ? As per my friend still no resolution. We will give it a few more days before filing an official. Summary- Stay away! Scam hotel , wham bam thank you mam!
