Love this cozy resort, our superior room spacious and clean, appointed and well maintained. Eventhough the bathroom floor typically wet after shower, we managed by soaking up the water with the pool towel. The evening turndown service did clean up the Bathroom. So no issue on that front. The king size bed was comfortable. We stayed in the D cluster with easy access to the lobby, pool and eeee. Beautiful pool, our kids love it. We enjoyed the walking trail by the lake. Friendly staff. Fantastic service and delicious food both at dinner and breakfast.
This hotel is rated by comparing our stay in other hotels in Sri Lanka. We stayed one night there. I am not that impressed with the hotel. Pro: The overall atmosphere is good---welcoming and friendly staffs, nice hotel grounds, and nice design. Con: - The worst part is that the air conditioner is located in a way that blows the cool wind directly to one of the bed. Most of us did not sleep well. - I don't like the bathroom that do not have a close door for shower. So, when you shower, some dry areas become wet. - Food: We had buffet for both breakfast and dinner---pretty bland. Fruit selection and fruit juice have varieties though.
A day or two at this place will provide you with peace of mind. You can enjoy nature at its best. Sway on a hammock, sit in a tree house, gaze at a lake, enjoy the playfulness of monkeys and many more. The rooms are spacious and the food is fabulous. The room service menu has a good variety and healthy choices too. You can enjoy a candle lit dinner seated outside, in the main restaurant, closer to the pool while listening to the live music. All these blend in to give you the best relaxed stay.
Had a wonderful time with kids. We can go in an elephant ride inside the Hotel. The environment is excellent. Hotel staff were pleasant and helpful. Good varieties in the breakfast. There is enough garden space to move around. Chalet type rooms are excellent.
This was our first stop in Sri Lanka so we arrived extremely tired. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I liked the open layout of this hotel, including lobby, restaurant, pool and lake are to wander around and see all the birds, monkeys and dogs. Pool looked lovely although we didn't have enough time there to use it. Food was lovely with plenty of choice. Rooms were nice, spacious, clean and cool. Beds were really comfortable. Thanks to all the staff for a great stay and lovely welcome to Sri Lanka.
We stayed in Habarana Village as part of our honeymoon. The hotel is set in an idyllic location, right on Minneriya lake. From the pool we watched elephants walking around the lake which was pretty cool! We could also go for long walks from Habarana village to the neighbouring hotel, and found a butterfly garden which a member of staff guided us around and showed us different plants and butterfly species. We saw a family of monkeys, a variety of birds and a Komodo dragon on our walks. The hotel itself was beautiful and clean, and the food was delicious and varied. There was also free wifi! Would definitely go back, and recommend the hotel to anyone wanting to see the wild side of Sri Lanka. We also went on the jeep safari ride in Minneriya National Park which was amazing, and saw about 150 wild elephants, a few monkeys, a group of water buffalo, pelicans, crocodiles, peacocks, eagles and other birds. I would strongly recommend you go in the jeep with the driver and a guide, as the guide can not only take you to the best areas to see wildlife but also keep the monkeys away from you! As funny as monkeys are they can get vicious and bite/scratch you if they get too close.
I stayed at both properties in May 2017, so am in a position to compare the two. I give each of them 4 stars. I stayed at Habarana Village one night, and at Habarana Lodge for four nights. Both are comfortable, .pleasant places to stay. Both have nice swimming pools, and are situated on the lake and in treed areas with good birdlife and a few animals (two kinds of monkeys, monitor lizards, and giant squirrels). Both have the same annoying man trying to sell you things. At Habarana Lodge, he was trying to sell boat rides, Rs 1,000 for 10 minutes. At Habarana Village, he was beckoning me to come see his elephant. (I declined.) The service at Habarana Lodge is far superior. Staff there are more helpful, diligent, and have a better command of English. The dinner buffet is far more lavish at Habarana Lodge, and the cooking staff are more skilled. At Habarana Lodge, the egg cook made perfect poached eggs. At Habarana Village, the egg chef admitted he did not know how to poach eggs, and he did not even bother to clean out the remains of the previous eggs he had cooked before cooking my eggs. At Habarana Lodge, my husband had a cappuccino (at extra cost) every morning. At the Village, he could not get his morning cappuccino because the bar man had not yet arrived. We chose a Deluxe room at Habarana Lodge; if I return, I would probably stay in a Superior room, as I didn’t think the more expensive room was worth it. Our room was very dark, and there were some annoying design flaws. The closet was not big enough to fit the ironing board, so it stands propped against a wall. The bathroom was stifling. They had attached a fine mesh to the window, but it was too fine to allow in air. They provided privacy by mounting pieces of black cloth to the lower half of the windows. Other things we did not like about our room at Habarana Lodge: absolutely dreadful pillows, and pushing two twin beds together instead of providing a single large bed. Surprisingly, our basic (Superior) room at Habarana Village, which is the cheaper of the two resorts, had fine pillows, and a single large mattress. Things we did not like at Habarana Village: the water from the shower spilled out into the rest of the bathroom, and the bathroom mirror needed replacing, as it was heavily spotted. The pool mattresses were less either in poorer condition or simply not clean at Habarana Village. There was a considerable amount of trash on the lawn at Habarana Village. When I reported this to the manager late in the afternoon, he attributed it to a function the previous evening.
The hotel offers peaceful stay with comfortable rooms. The hotel location is center to many travel attractions. Rooms and the hotel areas are not so modest but are at above average and pleasantly maintained. Flop side is the food at offer at the restaurant. I feel that they could introduce more variety to give a pleasant dining experience. In overall the hotel is preferred as the convenience to traveler, peaceful and also the rates are convenient for frequent travelers.
The hotel is awesome. The ambience marvelous. The hotel is having lovely cottages, a nice swimming pool, Very friendly and helpful people, and surroundings- a Heaven on Earth" We had booked the rooms in advance, and the check in and check out were very quick. The hotel is situated next to a huge lake, having beautiful lotuses, different kinds of birds and beautiful trees arround. The weather not very hot even during the month of May due to the trees and lush green surroundings. Also quite close to some of the tourist attractions. The breakfast and dinner were well spread out to meet every taste. It was "paradis sur terre", wished I could have stayed longer. Certainement retournera pour une période plus longue un autre moment". We all appreciate the staff members for taking good care during our stay 17th and 18 May 2017.
If you are looking for a good hotel, convenient to some special tourist attractions this is a must!! You will not be disappointed. We arrived to the hotel thinking it was the sister hotel. Initially we thought it was going to be a disappointment however we were wrong!!! This hotel is beautiful and has a rustic elegance with an outdoor shower in the bathroom and polished concrete furnishing. For what it lacks in refined elegance they more than make up for the service and friendliness of the staff. They could not be more helpful or warming. We arrived in our room to find a pair of towel swans and flowers on our giant 4 poster bed. We went out to an excursion to find a basket of exotic local fruit in our room and that they had decorated a special honeymoon table for us with multicoloured candles for evening dinner. On our last night we received a good luck message from the staff and a love heart made of flowers. For the 3days we stayed we were made to feel like the most important people and I cannot thank them enough.
