very nice luxury hotel in Kandy. Super service. Nice rooms. Very clean. Nice big pool & Fitness room. Food was ok. Could be better. Otherwise good Food Variation. So much green and beautiful garden. :)

Very nice place to stay in Kandy, I stayed for four days, excellent location right in the heart of the town, and hotel facilities are very nice. I highly recommend staying here if visiting Kandy. Even though situated in the heart of the town, the noise is minimal.
We liked this hotel. It is not a luxury hotel but has everything you need. A good location, well appointed rooms, nice pool and an excellent Indian Restaurant. The public spaces felt a little tired but the staff were wonderful. It is a big hotel so if you are looking for boutique luxury this is not the hotel for you.
Dear All, If I am to have my wedding or homecoming function in Kandy, Having it at Earls Regency was a dream of mine. The dream was with me even before I found my bride. The dream came true on 12th August 2017 at Regent Ball Room ( day function). Initially I had the impression that the hotel is not within my budget as my guest count was close to 300. So I was visiting other venues in Kandy during January this year. Apparently , I happen to have a chat with Marlon of your hotel and he made me realize that I could do it with Earls if I slightly stretched my budget. He gave me confidence to come to you. Thank you Marlon, if not for you, I would not have my dream realized at Regency. Then it was all about rounds of discussion and Marlon introduced me to the cool and calm gentleman Sudesh. He made all impossibles , possible. I never imagined that kind of a flexibility. He was accommodating all my requests from the menu to Accomodation to many other aspects. Thanks sudesh. You were the master behind the success of my function. Udhani and Nalin were also so helpful in completing the function successfully. My function was during Sri Lanka India cricket matches thus faced certain difficulties in unloading my stuff and availability of staff prior to the function date, but probably the situation was beyond your control , thus it's understood. Further, I made a request to reduce my guest count by 10 (before one day) due to last minute cancellations, but you could not accommodate it due to your policy of informing the final count before 48 hours. Still , I have no complaints despite i incurred a loss on it, as you had accommodated tons of requests of mine. I took time to write this long note, just to thank you and to let you know how happy I am. Dear Sudesh , Marlon and the Team. A big thank you to all of you. We arrived after a long drive so the hot towels that were provided and ice cream refreshment was very thoughtful. Check-in was quick and we were soon in our room. (Room 228) We had a fabulous view of the mountains at the rear of the hotel which we enjoyed from our balcony. Large comfortable bed, quiet air con. The bedside gadget that controlled all the electrics/lights was handy. We spent the afternoon by the pool; the pool was a good size and the addition of the waterfall made the area look very attractive. Pool service was ok but there was a wait as the beverages were not located pool side. We were fortunate to have a sun lounger each but there weren't many loungers to go around and I did notice, guests arriving later had to sit on their towels on the grass. On return to our room, room service had left a plate of fruit, a plate of cheese and a bottle of red wine. I telephoned reception to ask if room service had made a mistake and was told, it was compliments of the hotel. Never had that happen before. What a lovely gesture! The bathroom facilities were super; a large walk-in shower with a powerful rain fall shower head, a jacuzzi bath and a good selection of complimentary shampoo, conditioner, lotions etc... Enough towels, including small face cloths. However, the face cloths didn't materialise on day two when all the towels were changed. The only down side was the hair drier; not very powerful and no different heat settings, very basic, typical hotel style. Dinner was served in the Congress Hall; a dated looking room. The buffet food was varied, It was ok (a smaller choice than at our previous hotel.)Wine was very expensive - over priced (Luckily, we had the complimentary bottle back in the room!) Breakfast was also served in The Congress Hall. A good variety of hot and cold foods. The staff were all polite and friendly. We would be happy to recommend the Earls Regency Hotel.
Our initial feeling on checking in was that this hotel felt too big and corporate. It IS bigger than all the hotels we stayed on during our trip, and that's something the hotel can't avoid: it's a city hotel. Initially we thought this would be a problem - we tend to like smaller hotels. However, the staff were very friendly, and the outdoor spaces are special. The pool is huge and very clear. Great for swimming laps and for the kids. And if you swim around dusk, you get a great view of all the bats flying overhead. The buffet food was very good, and eating outside on the veranda was exceptional. We loved our rooms: big and well appointed with peaceful balconies. One of our children got a bit sick and the staff were very helpful arranging food and other things to go to the room.
Ok, so we had an interesting stay, resulting in a final night in a new room, but that's for later. We arrived after 1pm, but only had to wait about 10/15 minutes for our room, but noted that it was prepared quite quickly, there were some missing towels. On arrival presented with towels and some ice cream in a very impressive reception area, nice. Really warm welcome. We had a deluxe room no 108, overviewing the pool, balcony, seating area, a quite hard K/S bed, air-con and ceiling fan, free wi-fi and usual reasonably sizeable 4 digit safe. Nice bathroom and good toiletries, those types you can take with you. The fan instead of the A/C is fine to keep the room cool, although in higher temperatures you will need the A/C. The room was on the second floor and accessible from the main hotel over a walk-way. Also just check the mini-bar. As I said I thought the room was not fully ready when we arrived. I checked the bar and items missing. Advised reception, only to be told later that not all items are in the bar - the missing item was an energy drink. Food was generally very good on a buffet basis in a nice large restaurant with outside seating available. Has a pasta and indian stations for something special which is still part of the buffet. My one issue is that I had some chicken Korma and the piece of meat I had was still pink inside! The dress code is smart casual, trousers and shirt I thought, no anything goes, shorts T's caps etc, etc.Also note that the hotel does not serve alcohol during the festival of the tooth during August, which I thought was great. Final morning we were moved for breakfast to the ball-room. Nice room, but I did not think we got the full breakfast offering. Another problem is that our electricity went out. I thought it was hotel wide, but it was a problem with the slot where you put the room card to enable the electrics within the room. It was quickly repaired - I watched the maintenance man do the work and lucky I did, the thing failed at least 4 times in the two nights we were in the room. The other issue is noise. The morons above us allowed their child to run riot and he/she also kept dropping something on the floor that bounced almost like a metal ball! Also we had children running and screaming outside the room before 7am one morning, so beware. I appreciate these are not hotel, but parenting issues, but the hotel could consider an adults only area of the hotel. Now the drama. We went to the pool, came back about 5-ish and our shower door had completely shattered, glass everywhere. We reported this to reception, and in the end almost 7 people visited the room to look at it. I felt that we were being blamed for the damage. Eventually we were upgraded to a Luxury room no 316 on the third floor and on a separate wing. Absolutely nice room, with bath and rainforest shower. However some downsides, ping, ping from the lift nearby and the fan is noisy at low speed.
Not what I expected. Poor service but rooms and food was not bad. Service was not in par with expensive price range.The only thing which was good about this hotel was the pool.The previous hotel I stayed in offered a much better service and experience as advertised.Coming from that hotel to this it was a total letdown.
We spend a night with family and two babies, at first I felt so tired traveling between two wings since it's a lot of walking , how ever I got used to it . Our room was quiet large and could accommodate two adults and babies, they were willing to provide with cots . Food is yummy and had a wide variety, tasted nice and during our stay , all staff were really supportive and friendly. Lastly , it's a lovely hotel , needs bit of glamour and upgrading of furniture and refurbishment. Recommend for everyone and family with babies.
