The flat is a three-room flat in the historic centre of Spongano, 5 km from Castro Marina. Situated on the ground floor of a historic residence, to access it we pass through the iron gate and find ourselves in an internal courtyard shared with two other units, one on the side and the other on the upper floor. In the courtyard there is also the laundry area, also shared with the other guests.
We then enter the private flat, embellished by the flooring in Lecce stone and the typical ‘star vault’ ceiling, a typical Salento construction, which makes the room larger and more airy, and the thick tuff walls which make the air cooler in summer and warmer in winter.
We immediately find ourselves in a large living area, with a corner hob and a large wooden table in the centre that can seat up to six; the other side of the house is used as a sleeping area. A solid wood loft divides the space into two parts, effectively creating two spaces on two different levels divided by an internal staircase. On the lower level there is a bedroom with a double bed and a bathroom and on the upper level there is a wooden bed base (Futon Ikea model) with a double mattress and a wall desk.
Continuing along the same staircase we finally reach the private terrace, a special place where one can read a book or drink a glass of wine at sunset. .
