The booking was made through Booking.com and a double bed option as a preference was ticked. Over the years of booking with Booking.com, all the hotels I have booked have contacted me before the check-in if the faculties requested can't be provided. The Holiday Inn Express didn't inform me they could not provide me a double room, nor did they highlight it on the check in. The key they provided didn't work and it took a member of staff 15 minutes to replace the batteries. I was told a Double Bed room wasn't available so I called Booking.com to see if this booking can be cancelled without cancellation charges to find a double room in another hotelُ. The hotel refused to waive off the charges and booking.com representatives didn't help either. After an hour of stressful negotiations over the phone with Booking.com, the staff at the Holiday Express managed to provide a Double Room! Horrible Experience!
My wife and I have been loyal Premier Inn users for many years now. For a trip from the North East to Exeter we looked for somewhere in Doncaster to break our journey but found our two usual Premier Inns either booked or expensive. A Trip Advisor search turned up the Holiday Inn Express in Balby with vacancies at an excellent price. So we not only booked Doncaster but also the Holiday Inn Express in Exeter too. We are converted! Great rooms with WIFI, Air-con and cooked breakfast included. Excellent quiet locations and exceptional staff at both the hotels What's not to like?
Good hotel that meets my expectations: - nice and well equipped room - breakfast was not crazy, but adequate, and take away is possible - parking However the food proposed for the dinner was awful. A pity, because there is almost nothing nearby (a restaurant and a gas station/convenient store).
Stayed one night as we had an early flight. I explained to the staff that I would be checking out at 4 am and they put on an early breakfast of cereal, toast, fruit etc. Staff were really helpful. Room was comfortable. Only downside was the noise outside the bedroom window as our room was above the car park, otherwise I would have left 5 stars. Would definitely stay again.
Stayed here whilst visiting family for 2 nights. Quick check in. Room was clean and a good size - had a king size bed and a sofa. Bathroom was a shower but it was good . Room was light and airy. Breakfast had a good choice of cereals, toast, croissants and cooked items. Handy for lakeside. Would stay again
Stopped here for a couple of nights , really nice hotel , rooms were spacious and very clean , really nice toilet facilities, kettle for tea or coffee available in the room , breakfast had plenty off choice of yogurts and fruit , plus the English breakfast , would definitely recommend this holiday inn , staff were helpful and friendly
Stayed Sunday night and found the whole experience very good. Check in was quick and told me all I needed to know. Room was on first floor at the end of a corridor so no-one walking past the room at night. Room very clean and well equipped, bathroom spotless with a lovely big shower. Only down side was the shower curtain (hate them!) but that's minor. Bed very comfortable with quality mattress and choice of pillows. Good night's sleep but it does start to get noisy outside about 6am when the lorries start passing. Great buffet breakfast, included in the price and few newspaper. Happy to recommend this hotel, will stay here again rather that the hotel chain I usually use in the area.
We stayed for one night - Sunday to Monday. We arrived at 1:30pm and were able to check in. Our room was with sofa bed for our child. The windows were towards the road that became busy on Monday morning but as we woke up early it didn't disturb us at all. There was a car parking by the hotel. There was complimentary coffee and tea in the room. The bed was perfect, pillows maybe a little too hard my liking- but that is personal. There were toiletries in the bathroom. Hairdryer and towels for everyone. The room was big enough with telly and we were able to adjust room temperature by ourselves. We were happy with our room which seemed clean, comfortable and big enough. For us it was important to have a breakfast in the hotel. It was served from 7am to 9.30am if not mistaken. There is seating indoors and outdoors. Tree view outside the windows that are all along the dinig are wall. There was a highchair for our child. Breakfast is considered to be continental, but they had everything. Cereal, yoghurt, toast, bacon, beans, sausage, scrambled eggs and different types of coffees and fruit juices and fruits. The only thing that let breakfast down was horribly tasting scrambled eggs... they smelt funny and tasted bad, like it was cooked using old oil where previously fosh was cooked. Apart from that no issues at all. You can even take a takeaway coffee in cups provided. There is also ice machine in the lobby if you need to cool off your drink at any time. You can read a complimentary news paper or take it with you in the morning. We are very happy customers and stay in this hotel made our short stay in Doncaster lovely.
Lovely hotel for the price, the room was clean and had all the facilities you would expect,(tv, hairdryer etc), bed was comfy, bathroom clean and functional and the breakfast in the morning was excellent.
Clean rooms, as you would expect, efficient showers. No individual toiletries but these and other items could be requested from reception. We were in room 111 where the only drawback was that the smell of smoke wafted up from the smokers outside the front of the hotel. Breakfast was great, everything you could possibly want, buffet style, or grab and run. Helpful staff and free morning papers.
