So the wedding anniversary came round again and, as I threatened after last years stay, Mr Jax and I returned. Different spa suite this time, went for the Sanctuary suite with the double width air bath and 7 foot four poster bed. These spa suites really are worth raiding the bank account for the "splash out for special occasions". It is good to see that the high standards we experienced during our stay last year are still very much alive and well. From check-in to check-out and every member of staff we met, all present the face of a well oiled hospitality establishment. Richard and his staff are to be congratulated
My husband and I spent a lovely Valentine’s Day in the amazing Laconium Suite. Check in was smooth and the staff very friendly. Our suite was quite a distance from the reception (not an issue) but thankfully the hotel has good signage throughout and we found it okay. The hotel itself is very well presented with lots of little quirky spaces and communal spaces were all very clean. The Laconium Suite is amazing and despite having looked at numerous pictures of it on the Internet, I was totally blown away by the size of it (definitely a case of pictures not doing something justice). The bedroom is massive with a large bed, 2 sofas, 2 easy chairs, a desk, large wardrobe and table with teas/coffees etc on. There is a huge wall mounted TV (which is good due to the size of the room and distance from the bed!) The bathroom/spa area totally took my breath away, there is a wonderful hot tub type bath in the middle of the room with plenty of room for 2 and a handy little surface for champagne glasses! This faces another flat screen TV which is built into the heated mirrored wall (very impressive). The sauna and steam room were both simple to operate and worked very well. It was lovely to have them all to ourselves. There are robes and slippers provided in the room and all the towels looked really new and fluffy. There was also an adequate supply of toiletries in the room. Breakfast the following morning was really nice with a buffet for the continental style breakfast along with the choice of hot food brought to your table. Service was quick and efficient. This suite is truly magnificent and has quite possibly ruined all other hotel stays for us, but it was definitely worth it, and we will be making this an annual trip now I think!
Went for afternoon tea 11 days ago. What a disappointment. This was not afternoon tea in the true sense of the word. We were presented with open sandwiches on bread that was dry and tough. The scones cream and jam were acceptable but the cakes were dreadful. They had the appearance and taste if being shop bought and not home baked. The presentation and service were however good. We do not consider it value for money and will not be returning.
Lovely setting and a beautiful example of a Best Western hotel chain. Room was a four poster with magnificent views and soft furnishings. Foyer area was large and enabled friends and family to meet / greet and share a few drinks. Overall lovely hotel which enabled a great day/night celebration.
We went for Sunday Lunch and was met by some very helpful staff who invited us to a lounge for pre dinner drinks followed by an attentive waitress who give us the menu after which we were escorted to our table The meal was excellent although the wine was a little pricey The whole occasion and general impression was that all our party really enjoyed our visit to this Hotel
Oh what a night Frankie Valle tribute night was excellent, food was good and the room was fantastic, everything for a great night out. The band mixed the music and the dj followed the theme with 60's, 70's tunes
My friend who lives nearby introduced me to Mount Pleasant yesterday and I was very impressed. The venue itself is superb and we spent a relaxing time in the lounge area with pre meal drinks. We opted to dine in the bar area. The menu offered a good range of choice but both being fans of venison our decision was mad easier for us.The dish was beautifully presented, the meat cooked to perfection and well complemented with the addition of McSween' s haggis. A thoroughly enjoyable plate of food. We nearly denied ourselves the sweet menu but I'm glad we gave into the temptation. My friend indulged in the chocolate tart. I'm not the biggest of sweet eaters but I was tempted by the sound of everything on offer. I opted for Chef's Banoffee Pie which was a triumph both in presentation and taste. We had a very enjoyable meal in great surroundings. Thank you to all the front of house staff and to those of you behind the scenes in the kitchen. From two very satisfied customers.
We arrived at 7!30pm had to ask which venue the evening was in, as no signs around. The tables were located and dressed pretty as it was for Valentine's night. The pea and pie was served from 8_15 ish.So the entertainment didn't start till 9_15. People were getting a little Fed up at the long Waite. The group were realy great, disco good so we would go again. And priced right.
We stayed for 1 night February 2017 and our first impressions were very good. Hotel has a lovely setting and our room was excellent, staff were nice and the buffet breakfast was good. The only negatives was the very poor mobile signal and the early checkout @ 10.30am when we requested a later checkout we had to pay an extra £20 which I thought was excessive and ruined our experience slightly.
6 of us went here on Saturday afternoon for Afternoon Tea and it was really lovely. The hotel seemed to be quite busy but we were taken into a room with only a few people in which was nice, quiet and relaxing. The staff were brilliant, very quick and efficient and kept coming over to top up our tea and coffee and make sure we were ok. The afternoon tea consisted of 4 different types of sandwich (filling on a slice of crusty bread rather than a traditional sandwich), fruit scone, individual Victoria sponge cake, brownie and macaroon each plus as much tea/coffee as you wanted! The price is a little expensive but on par with other 4* restaurants/hotels. You do have to pay when you book which some find off putting but wasn't an issue for us. Overall we had a lovely time and would recommend.
