Four Points by Sheraton Bolzano4.0 out of 5.0

Most Four Points you stay in are quite plain - nothing to write a review about, clean, but not amazing. This one was outstanding. Great location for touring the region. Great location for taxi into the city center for the night life. Great bar and restaurant on premises. Just about everything about this hotel was ... perfect. Rooms are big by European standards. Staff was a little overwhelmed at times... service could have been better in the hotel and in the bar. All in all, though, this hotel exceeded my expectation and made for a great vacation with family.
Well - this is a hangar of a hotel in a massive industrial area. And is definitely for business travellers. And it is a bit odd. The rooms are massive but have few sockets and tiny bed side cabinets. It somehow does not feel like anyone has tried out the rooms. The breakfast is expensive at 15 euros. There were several glitches with swipe cards to rooms not working and supplies not replenished. There is a big Spar supermarket down the road which is useful for supplies. We had an upgrade for 24 euros to a suite. A fridge and kettle in the room, but I think they are in all the rooms. On the plus side it is clean and the omissions were rectified quickly, and it is quiet in the rooms. Getting to town is fairly easy on 10A bus from outside Spar - very frequent service. But on the down-side you do have to go into town for a nice place to eat. The hotel restaurant served really bland and expensive food - not recommended - and don't ask for tap water to drink as it is 'policy' not to give it to diners.
Wenn stayed there one night. Great service, good trained and friendly Staff. Nice restaurant, good breakfast with everything you need. Nice and clean Spa area in top of the Hotel. Clean rooms with allyou need in the bathroom ad Well.
While the hotel is not is the town center of Bolzano, our primary purpose for staying here was to have a base from driving around the Dolomite mountains. As it is convenient to the main highways, the location was great for our needs. The hotel appears to be a new property. We opted for an upgraded room, which was very spacious. The is a large grocery market just a short distance as well. Bolzano is a lovely town, and was only a 10 -15 minute drive from the hotel park to the town center.
The hotel near the airport - clean rooms, everything was nice. The only drawback - breakfast was pretty expensive: 17 euros per person, so we decided not to try it. Otherwise it's a good place to stay, and it was available on a very short notice
The room was very clean & tidy, beds comfortable and staff was friendly. However, as many other reviews have stated the hotel is located in the middle of an industrial area and next to the congress centre ..so I would rate the surroundings "not very pleasant" (but if you have a car that obviously won't matter that much). Pool area at the top was OK but I wouldn't call it amazing. All around it's a good hotel for 1 night stop over (or if travelling in business it's very convenient for visiting venues at the congress center) but I wouldn't want to spend my holidays in here.
I would not normally pay this much for a hotel room, but rooms were at a premium in August. Bolzano/Bozen is a fantastic destination. The hotel is not in the centre of town, but it is a quite easy 5 minute drive to the city centre if you have a car. I would call this a luxury hotel (at least by my standards). Air conditioning was effective and extremely quiet. Vast breakfast. We didn't use the restaurant but the bar snacks were good quality. There is a 20 euro per night fee for parking in the garage, but cheaper street parking is available. I would have liked a more powerful shower, but that is a relatively minor point.
It is my third visit to this hotel and I really do not know why this hotel is not branded with some higher tier brand of SPG (just Sheraton for example). The rooms are very well maintained, and I think – recently refurbished. They look much nicer than the rooms in some Sheratons I visited in the past. I would like to highlight the spa – very nice and the pool is open from early in the morning till ten o’clock in the evening. The location is not central, but the station of a local train is very near. This time I was there with my car – they have very accessible and secure underground garage. SPG recognition: I was recognized as Gold member, but have got no upgrade because they were full – and they really have been. Comparing to some other hotels – they were very apologetic about lack of upgrade which I find as extremely nice touch. The only negative thing is the restaurant and the choice of food. For a place under the Alps I expected at least some strudel or any other local dishes – they were not able to offer me anything local for dinner. I hope it is just temporary because last time I was here, I enjoyed some good local dishes. This is the reason I rated the hotel with 4 instead of 5 stars. To conclude – this hotel is very nice choice for the area. Personally, I choose it this time because it was for me on a half way to St. Moritz which was my destination.
Firstly its really hot here, my air-con is really struggling and what little it does blow out simply does not come out strong enough to cool this large room, the room is hot really hot I had to resort to putting a hand towel under the tap and then wrapping it round my neck to cool down. Someone come up to fix the TV that has 3 English channels CNN, RUSSIA TODAY & BBC WORLD he explained the air-con was pumping out at 25 and this was correct for this system and that it would just take a while. THE AIR-CON IN ROOM 621 is FAULTY IS DOES NOT WORK. - GO TEST IT AND SPARE YOUR NEXT GUEST THE SAME POOR SERVICE. The fact that the room is red hot, the WIFI keeps dropping in and out, and I am getting bit to pieces by Mosquitoes has made this part of my trip a rather sad one, at almost 120 euro a night they are having a laugh! Really needed to make a few SKYPE calls today to check in with friends and Family and the calls kept dropping out as the internet in my room is useless. The Hall way on the 6th floor is dark, and I mean dark and eventually a light sensor comes on! The hall way walls all need a lick of paint, and bearing in mind this floor caters to Top SPG Members should be prioritized, the GM needs needs a wake up call and needs to have a meeting on Monday and get these issues sorted as people like me will never return and will never recommend the property to anyone. Front desk Staff that checked me in where aloof, Lazy and incredibly unwelcoming, no personality, really hard work, despite explaining I had been driving 5 hours it was the worst welcome of the whole trip.I had to wait an hour to get the room and then had to wait almost 20 minutes to be check in is not acceptable as an SPG Platinum, my room should have been ready especially when checking in on a Friday at 3pm this is not acceptable. I will also be directing my opinions to SPG Members service Team. The car Park is 20 euro a night, I am driving an expensive rental car and asked about parking, I was reluctantly given some information and told you must pay until the night and then from early, not solid info and no offer of me putting it in , the Garage despite three people stood there to check me in. A bit of reassurance would of been nice as the Hotel is located on an Industrial Estate and the on road parking requires the purchase of a ticket. How about an info sheet explaining about the local parking regulations if your front desk staff are so reluctant to talk to guests? Why the need to charge 20 euro? No free drinks for SPG Platinums, no real recognition, other than a junior suite with faulty air-con and full of mosquito's, no welcome letter, only a well rehearsed speech about Breakfast times, not acknowledgement whatsoever of being a top tier SPG Member, shoddy check in and lack of Management training. Oh and did I mention the heavy BASS loud screaming & shouting that carries on until 3am? I am currently in a Junior Suite on the 6th floor room 621 facing out the rear of the Hotel with all the windows open with mosquitos dive bombing me because the air-con does not work and with a heavy BASS banging with some guy rapping. Whilst laying here typing this with a wet towel over my head to keep cool. Great stay? No way it was terrible. 1.30am now so going to sign off and try and get some sleep as the BASS is till going. PS - Big thanks to the Young Lady and the Guy that work in the BB Bar on the Ground floor who despite the grumpy faced reception staff are doing a great job and actually talk to you like a Human. These two are doing a fantastic job and are both full of smiles and have a happy work environment, why is reception not the same?
This is a nice hotel in an unfortunate location, extremely convenient for the Congress Center and easily accessible from the autostrada but surrounded by ugly warehouses. If you can ignore the warehouses then you'll enjoy the spectacular views of the mountains from the upper floors. The rooftop pool and whirlpool are also great. The hotel has a terrific front desk staff. Honestly I do always appreciate an "upgrade" as a gold member, though the smelly sixth-floor hallway, the slightly damaged room furniture and damaged walls were impossible to overlook. As I was recently at a comparable hotel in rural East Africa I do have to wonder: is there nobody on staff here to paint over the black marks all over the wall? Does nobody here notice things such as cigarette burn holes in the carpet? Or a defective lamp? Or the drywall seams bursting apart and the dust it leaves on the carpet? Or the bird droppings on the window that can be easily cleaned off merely by opening the window? Also one of the elevators wasn't working properly with the keycards (I noticed other guests had the same problem) and the room door didn't close well--it needed to be pulled very hard. OK, perhaps it was just this room that fell short of expectations, not sure. I do love giving four and five star reviews, and I lost count of how many hotels in how many dozen countries I visited over the past year. But honestly I haven't seen anything quite like this to date, so I have to give a three-star rating. This hotel's GM needs to pay closer attention to details, in particular to the sixth-floor hallway (such as replacing the carpet). Therefore unusually I am posting two photos of damaged room walls just to underscore that yes this actually exists and yes it is easy to see. That said, you'll note from my Instagrammed picture that the views are quite spectacular.
