Place needed to be cleaned in the back and so did the pool and hot tub. Broken down grill had rusted chips all over the patio area that got into our feet. The furniture was not cleaned either and covering the back with most of it undesirable to sit on. We had to spend hours cleaning and sweeping to spend the day outside. The filter for the pool was not working and in the pool and hot tub piles of sand. Lock to the back was unlocked and anyone could have gone to the back all other door locks in the house were extremely hard to use. My husband had to lift up to lock the doors. Didn’t find the other thermostat until we left, the upstairs was extremely hot while it took hours for the temperature to go down in the downstairs. 75 is way to hot to have guests show up to and still have to wait hours for the temperatures to go down. We felt the house had great space but it needs work and for what we paid it should have been way better prepared and cleaned.

Home was beautiful and very spacious. We had plenty of room for our big family. Very convenient to have a restroom in every bedroom. The direct access to the beach was the best part for me! Watched a few beautiful sunrises right out our back gate.

I've been renting private homes on SPI for over 10 years. For what we paid for this home, I am disappointed. The patio/backyard of the home is dirty. It needs deep cleaning. The outdoor furniture is disgusting. It should be replaced. My family and I didn't even want to sit on them nor put our towels or any belongings on them. Unfortunately, we were not able to enjoy the patio due to its dirtiness. The spa worked for 2 days and that was after we had to call the manager to get it fixed. They came, fixed it, and it broke again the following day. The indoor furniture is gorgeous, luxurious, and sturdy. We did enjoy the indoor furniture, but the point of being at the beach is to enjoy the pool, hot tub, and patio. A few things should be added like a place to hang tools in the shower, a blow dryer, a stove with readable knobs. Again, for what we paid, this is unacceptable.

Perfect

This property worked so well for our family. We enjoyed facing the Gulf with easy access to the beach. My husband, who was unable to walk to the beach watched from porch and felt included. The pool worked well for us and the hot tub was a welcome addition. Having a dedicated bathroom for each room was perfect. The kitchen and family area was very nice. Being next door to Wanna Wanna was a bonus and we enjoyed volleyball over there.

Another SPI monopoly

Sadly, it’s extremely challenging to find a house in SPI on the beach that isn’t managed by SPI. The front office staff are always unhelpful. The properties lack in simple items such as washcloths. Be prepared to pack everything except your kitchen sink when you stay with SPI.

Friends and family

The view, the beach, all were great. However, the pictures were not recent. The sliding door to patio was very difficult, and even with “fix” didn’t work well. And unfortunately, condensation within the panels of glass ruined the beautiful view. And also, we asked for more kitchen towels as we cooked most meals and they wouldn’t provide.

Love this place

Very much love staying at this private place in SPI. There was a little trouble with our booking when we arriving there was someone already staying at the place we rented, but the problem was fixed, and the manager let us stay in the same neighborhood, which was perfect. I am looking forward to coming back again.

Not quite what they advertised.

We had our grandchildren and all they wanted to do was swim. You advertised a heated pool. We called every day to SPI as the pool was full of sand and freezing. The pool maintenance finally came the day we were leaving. Place is kind of run down. One living room chair had a leg off. Rust marks all over. Bedrooms and bathrooms were super nice. Loved location and the beach was perfect for walking.

Great house and location. Entire family enjoyed and we had all ages. Only thing it needed was an outdoor shower or easy access to water to rinse off sand. Would definitely go again.

Great beach access and right next door to bar/restaurant. The place was clean and had plenty of common space for our group of 8. Pool and hot tub were a nice perk. Would definitely recommend!

Overall the property was impressive. There were a few minor details that could make one's stay even better. I would suggest bringing a power strip, there are not a lot of exposed outlets.

Beautiful Home, Amazing Beach, Perfect Location!! Definitely going back!!

This beautiful home made quite an impression with our trip! Once you walk in, you have an amazing open space and great view of the pool and ocean in the background. The house is just STEPS away from the beach with its own private boardwalk to the beach. Kitchen is modern with a drip coffee machine (no keurig coffee maker, so bring your own if you are a fan) so bring your coffee filters and coffee grounds. OR, there is a cute coffee shop literally a block away, CAFE KARMA, that many in our household enjoyed each morning. TIP: The Viking refrigerator has a lip on the right door that will rip if you open it first. ALWAYS open the fridge with the LEFT DOOR FIRST, followed by the right door. If you open the right door first, it could tear the plastic seal resulting in poor temp control. I suggested to SPI Rentals to put a sign. The bedrooms were spacious considering there are 3 of the 5 bedrooms have King beds. Each bedroom has their own private bathroom. A half bath is on the first floor, great for use when you are in the pool. There is a hot tub by the pool but we could not get it warmed up. We did request an order and SPI Rentals were VERY QUICK to come in an address. We were told to use the panel inside the house and not outside by the pool pump. Despite being shown how to "turn it on", the hot tub did not heat up. I advised the management company to consider putting written instructions to use. The house is literally one lot away from WANNA WANNA bar/restaurant. We made sure to enjoy that every day were there. Despite these hiccups, we enjoyed the house very much and look forward to going back!

Great Family Vacation Home :)

We stayed for a week over Spring Break with 13 people total. There was plenty of room for everyone! The house was clean on arrival and in great condition. We did have to contact SPI Rental for four days in a row because the hot tub was not working, it wouldn't get over 84°. They were always quick to respond but unfortunately weren't able to get the hot tub fixed properly until our 5th day. The only other minor inconvenience was the refrigerator which didn't stay very cold, and the door was broken. However, it was a wonderful location with the beach being right at our backdoor. There is no access to the garage (just an FYI for future renters) and they do not provide beach towels or any kind of beach chairs / toys. I was not aware when I made the reservation that SPI provides a shuttle service from Harlingen Airport. Had I known, we would've utilized that service and rented golf carts instead of rental cars from the airport. All in all, it was an awesome trip for all four families, and I would definitely rent this unit again! South Padre Island provided a fun family vacation with lots of activities to do and visit, and we will be back soon!

Well designed house, not well maintained.

Although the house layout was perfect for our family, unfortunately it had many issues. The appliances are all Viking, which you would expect to be working! The refrigerator door was broken causing ice to build up. The stove top did not work properly. The pots, pans and dishes were dirty. We had to wash everything. The pool was not clean and not heated. There was a problem with the hot tub. We lost electric in the entire house because the breaker needed to be replaced. The ground fault outlets stopped working because we had 3 hair dryers going at the same time. The house was not very clean. It’s really a shame that so many of these issues occurred and greatly inconvenienced our family vacation. Michael from SPI Rentals was quick to address most issue, however, most were not able to be resolved. Service people were at the home at least 5 times. Parts were on order and not available Compensation was given. The house really needs a “vacation” from renters to be brought up to standard.

Beautiful condo and excellent location

Six of us stayed here for a girls trip. The location and view are unbeatable. We loved being able to hear the live music from the bar and grill next door while we were in the pool area as it wasn’t too loud. So nice to have that privacy wall but still have a wonderful view of the gulf. The only negative is how very little the condo comes with in terms of towels and supplies. For the cost, I really don’t understand why they wouldn’t at least leave one trash bag per day of rental. We were there 4 nights and went through the two bags they left us by the second day. When I asked for more they basically said no! Luckily bar and grill next door was willing to give us some. Also wish they would supply enough towels to be used in the pool area. They did, however, bring us a few more kitchen towels upon request. The rental company is the only reason I’m giving this a 4 star instead of 5. The beds were comfortable and it was nice for each of us to have our own bathroom. The hot tub never got really hot but got hot enough. All in all we would definitely stay there again!

South Padre Isle

This was a wonderful house, set right on the beach, which proved to be the perfect location for our annual family beach getaway week. We had complete privacy for family time and were conveniently close to any amenities and shops for any needs that came up during our stay. Additional non-beach activities and sights were also close at hand to provide a wide range of things to do over the week we were vacationing. We thoroughly enjoyed the warm waters and seasonal temperatures and would happily visit again.

Family reunion

Beautiful house. Family reunion for 3 families with 9 people total - ages 14 to 74. Each had own bedroom. Common room was wonderful for all to hang out together. Access to beach was great. Loved sitting on patio and seeing the ocean. Lots of fun in the pool while not at the beach. We did no cooking while there - cereal for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch and dinner out. Easy access to the events we wanted to do during the day. Rented a golf cart - highly recommended - and used this to get around the island. Check in was a nightmare with having to go back 4 times since given the wrong keys. Also be sure to bring your own beach towels as only 1 towel per person is provided. And we brought our own coffee maker - makes 12 cups. The one provided made only 5 cups and that is not near enough for us. The beds were comfortable and glad each room had their own bath. Plus the view from the common room to the ocean was wonderful. Would definitely rent again.
