Hotel is just a short walk from the waterfront and town so its convenient to walk for dinner and stroll around. There is also a nice walk out to some statues which is a great area so see bird life as well. Hotel was very nice and people we friendly. We eat in town so did not have meals at the hotel. rooms with a view of the harbor are desirable.
Situated overlooking the sea, and were it not for the mist and low cloud, would have had a view of the Vatnajokull glacier as well; unfortunately the wet weather hid that from us. Our room was of reasonable size, bright and clean and we appreciated the help with luggage from the friendly chap on reception. This was the only time in Iceland that this service was provided. Breakfast was plentiful with a good choice from the buffet.
The location of the hotel is amazing, but on the whole the experience is a little average. The reception is brilliantly designed, but this does not continue to the rooms, which are a little sparse. But clean and comfy enough
We stayed here on a tour around Iceland. The accommodations are basic with not too many amenities. There are no TVs in the rooms if this is an issue for you. In two weeks in Iceland we never turned on a TV in any rooms so for us it is not an issue. Customer service is something new for Iceland I believe and in some of these smaller hotels it is noticeable. Our room was clean and comfortable. The included breakfast was good and started our day off right. This is a very nice location and for that reason I would stay here again. It is also very close to Pakkhus restaurant which is a must visit.
This hotel proposes a wonderful view on the see with magic sunset and sunrise, with mountains behind slightly in the mist. With clean whilst not so big rooms, this hotel is a fine choice. Nice and helpful person at the reception, however, it may be appropriate she knows the correct opening hours of the Tourist information office located at some 300 meters. The breakfast was rich, tasty and without the usual and repetitive scrambled eggs, sausages and beans… Nice change from other hotels!
We stayed overnight at Hotel Edda Hofn during our drive around Iceland. It was one of only a few options of accommodation in Hofn which included private bathroom facilities. The woman at reception was quite unfriendly but we got over it. There were pleasant scenic views from our rooms. The rooms themselves we fairly small and very basic with only the necessities which didn't include a TV or refrigerator. My room was quite hot and stuffy after a full day of sunshine through the windows. For what we got the rooms were unbelievably expensive. It would seem that tourists are being exploited in Iceland with high prices not only for accommodation, but also for things like food, meals and rental cars.Wifi at this hotel did not work on our Australian phone.
It was a great hotel, clean & the lady at the reception was Very nice. The man that switched shifts with her was extremely rude- he made us question ever staying here again. But we decided we would recommend it. I gave 4 stars because the hotel was very nice- clean- on the water & the breakfast was okay (no hot food).
We enjoyed our stay. We wish to particularly thank Mr. Karl Rafnsson, who was kind to send us a battery charger we forgot in our room to the hotel we stayed in Reykjavik at the end of our trip. This is an example of excellent customer service.
The rooms were quiet and comfortable. The breakfast had a large assortment of local cuisine. If you're staying in Hofn be sure to go to the Pakkhus restaurant which is only a 5 minute walk away.. Also, the hotel does not have a lift.
The hotel is located just in front of the harbour and so you have a really nice view if you have one of the rooms there. The breakfast and the lunches are passable. The prices in line with other hotels in Iceland (but only in Iceland).
