Lovely lovely hotel and more particularly fabulous staff. They could not do enough for us I celebrated my birthday there and on the night the waiters provided me with a birthday cake I was left speechless!! A lovely touch . I have no idea how they found found out as it wasn't my husband .food was lovely buffet or a la carte Hotel was tired looking but that was part of its charm courtesy bus was available to take us to sorrento and back Loved every minute of it and hope to go back
Best hotel in sorrento we have stayed in excellent service and food comfortable rooms nothing seems to much trouble for the staff can't wait to return in June for our third time beach is great shuttle bus very reliable would recommend this hotel Tony &Angela Manchester
After a wonderful holiday here in August 2016 with my family (husband, daughter & son) I returned with my daughter in April 2017. After a very quick unpack we headed down to the restaurant for lunch, to our delight we were greeted by Guilio who recognised us from our previous visit. We were looked after brilliantly during our stay, thank you Guilio, Sabatino, Francesco & Marco, you all helped to make our holiday another fantastic one! It was great to see Rosita once more, a truly lovely lady! She and her colleagues are so glamorous, it is always a pleasure to see them. The food was once again delicious, thank you Luigi and your team of brilliant staff! Grace and I loved the gnocchi making lesson (again!), Luigi and Francesco made a very entertaining team! Again all the staff at the hotel were friendly, kind, helpful and hard working. We enjoyed the night that Lello & Carlo entertained us, it is a shame that they were not on more often. Ignacio was entertaining too, a thoroughly nice chap. Within days of returning home I had booked to return in April 2018 with my husband David, we arrive 3 weeks tomorrow and are both very excited! Ferdinando, thank you for your help once again.
I booked my family at the Alimuri for my 60th birthday, for a week. We could not fault to hotel and service. Food in the restaurant was superb, buffet mainly but with al a cartel choices. Selection of wine and other drink was excellent. All the little extra touches added to the overall perfect experiance
sorry for the late review, been meaning to do this since we came back. We visited in june 2017 and on arrival to the hotel were quickly given our room key so we could get some lunch before the restaurant closed. Our room was next to the reception with a small balcony overlooking the bay which was stunning and the staff kept our room spotless and the bed was huge and very comfortable. i have a gluten allergy and the restaurant staff were great and made sure i had everything i needed, even making things especially for me to ensure it was safe for me to eat. We found the food to be very good and ordered from the al a carte menu and also helped ourselves from the buffet. We booked the free shuttle bus the day before to take us to sorrento which was very helpful and even dropped us at Meta train station when we made our own way to Pompei which is easy enough to do if you dont mind a little bit of a squeeze on the train. We booked the Amalfi drive trip through the hotel which i can highly recommend, our guide was fab and we incorporated the boat trip when we arrived in Amalfi which is a must. Amalfi is stunning then we went up to Ravello which is such a gorgeous place. this is a traditional hotel with beautiful art deco tiles and staff really do work hard to keep it clean, we really relaxed here and found everyone to be so friendly and they really do make this hotel what it is. I wouldnt hesitate in returning, but would say its more suited to adults as not much to keep children entertained. thankyou for a wonderful holiday
Having read so many good reviews about this hotel I feel compelled to write a REALLY honest review.I'm sure that so many of the 5 star reviews on this site are left by people who wear blinkers. This really is just another average hotel at best.I really do not know where to start with its faults so the best parts first. It's quite nice inside with italiano style decor.room was nice with nice balcony (although far too close to our neighbours, felt a bit uncomfortable as i'm sure they did to).Check in was really quick so happy with that. Now I'm beginning to struggle.... The food (which going by all the reviews on here AND lead me to picking this hotel) was useless.Just average holiday rubbish you would get in any country abroad.Bland lukewarm tasteless mass produced canteen fodder. Read loads of reviews on here by people that were really impressed by the fact that all the drinks were brand names ???.Haha what a joke. Its the yee oldee trick of putting inferior rubbish into nicer bottles to fool the holidaymakers.Even while I was there many people commented on this. Its really that noticeable. The pool area....well I can't moan about the size of it as I knew from other reviews how small it was.But it was actually even smaller than I anticipated.Approx 24 sun loungers around pool (which opened at 9.00 a.m),and if you were not in the que by quarter to then forget any hope of getting one.As if this situation was not bad enough, one morning came down to hopefully nab 2 to find that half of them had actually been officially reserved by the management for their friends ! (see photo). The pool area itself does NOT have a bar area.It has a tiny kiosk which quite often would be empty and when a member. of staff appeared you were made to feel like you were a real hindrence to their Facebook/Snapchat time.I kid you not I walked in there on one occasion and the lady behind the counter was yacking away on her phone. She noticed me and then just carried on regardless for a further few minutes and then I eventually got served.10 out of 10 on customer service on that one. While I think about it.Any review left on here which is honest and not fully complimentary about the hotel seems to get a MANAGERS response which always seems to be something like "if you would have raised these issues at the time we would have resolved them".Well I and many other guests did try and get hold of the manager. But guess what, the whole week we were there nobody saw this elusive manager as he was never actually there.Could explain why the place is run so shoddily and not managed. The private beach....To look at photos of it,it looks pretty decent.Yes I knew it was going to be stoney, not a problem. But it is only a really tiny section of that beach (see photos) that is "private".Opens at 9.00 and at 5.00 the deckchair attendant (ooh sorry I meant "lifeguard") starts clearing every one away.Really relaxing that. To sum up.Would I come here again ? No. Hopefully that sums it up perfectly.
Counting down the weeks to our return back to this fabulous hotel (our 3rd visit). Beautiful hotel with stunning views. All the staff at this 'hidden gem' was so very friendly and attentive from arriving here. Food and drink was in ample supply and very enjoyable. We loved eating outside, specially in the evening overlooking the sea and watching the mesmerising sunset, followed by drinks and local entertainment. Booking a seaview is a must for us, as going to sleep to the sound of the sea was a my idea of heaven. Can't wait till May 2018
My husband and I got married in sorrento last year in april. Sorry it’s taken so long to write this review. We were very lucky with the weather, highs of 25 on the big day. There was 9 of us that stayed in this hotel and all our rooms were perfect. We had the room with the whirl pool, that was enjoyable and the sunsets we seen were spectacular. Our room was also very spacious and the bathroom was massive. We also had our wedding reception at the hotel. I was completely blown away with what the staff and wedding coordinators done for us. We were treated like royalty on our big day and even had guest take pics. The only little thing I was annoyed with was after our wedding they replaced all the dead flowers with beautiful new ones, which knowing there was going to be a wedding party there they really could have put new flowers in for us. Apart from that it was just the best day of my life. The staff were friendly and really made our stay more enjoyable. I thought the food was great and they had a pancake desert a few nights. As I’ve seen from so many reviews, you really need to sort out the entertainment at nights. Like someone said maybe even put in background music rather than the man with the keyboard. I would love to go back to this hotel and anyone thinking of getting married in sorrento this is a perfect place to stay. There is also a Airbnb opposite the hotel that two of my guests stayed in as they were only there for 4 days. Very handy as it had a iron. We did so much in the two weeks we were there, even went to Rome for 3 days. Used the trains. Overall great experience. Thank you all and will be returning as a family of 3.
Stayed here for a week all inclusive on a very busy sold out week in October. Our room faced the road as we'd only booked a standard room, but it was fine, in good decorative state and roomy enough, except the shower cubicle which was like a coffin, but we managed. The hotel is situated on a small pebble beach (take a snorkel as there's lots of fish around the rocks) just outside Sorrento., about 20 mins by shuttle bus . I loved the Art Deco feel of the place and some areas looking very grand and opulent, but some areas were a bit more tired, like the exterior, but that probably due to the sea air. The thing that makes this hotel special are the wonderful staff, especially the restaurant staff, who are all lovely, helpful and smiley. I have to mention the twins Giovanni and Alfonso who were both such lovely young men and really looked after us. If we were in the area again, I would definitely say here?
The Marhotel Alimuri, is a nice and small hotel I have had the pleasure of visiting. However, there are many "little" things about this hotel that add up to me not being able to fully enjoy my visit here. For example, the balcony doors are very difficult to open, this may good if you have young children as they will not be able to get onto the balcony on their own, but it is still difficult for adults a like to open the balcony door. Also the safe, our safe has alone been broke 8 times during our visit here of 2 weeks. The hotel is great for teenagers who don't like using the internet, because even though there is wifi it is appalling. Another complaint I have to make is the steps onto the beach and deck, the bottom step of both to the deck and to the beach is gigantic in fact you have to pretty much jump down them which is dangerous especially for young children. The food here however is clean and edible and they do have a children's menu but for the adults there is not much choice and the food can be delicious but it has to be to your taste, because they don't have many options, and if you find anything you like you better save it while it lasts as most food is not repeated very often. But there are also many positives to this hotel too, in away the awful wifi is good because it allows you to actually communicate with other people here and not constantly be on your phones all the time. Another good thing the views they are AMAZING and I really enjoy them, and even though the pool is small it doesn't matter because the sea is warm and clear and is perfect for swimming in. But the best thing about this hotel is the staff, they are extremely friendly and kind to you during your whole trip, you can never catch them without a smile on their faces. Overall I would said that this hotel is a great hotel and I've really enjoyed my visit here and even though it can sometimes be a hit and miss I would recommend taking the risk because it is an amazing place with amazing views.
