Brilliant holiday from start to finish. My husband and friends arrived at the hotel just in time to get lunch and where shown to the restaurant whilst our bags where taken to our rooms for us. The food and drink on offer at every meal was outstanding and you had the option of a la Carte or buffet or both. The waiters were so friendly and attentive wanting to ensure that your experience was 1st class every time with special mention to Francesco C and Ciccio C who were our waiters for most of the week during our stay. They both delivered an amazing service at all times well done and thank you. We had a sea view room with everything you could ask for in a room spacious, clean and wonderful views. The bar staff were all very friendly and helpful with a special mention to the twins who really helped bring the evening entertainment to life. We will definitely not hesitate in returning.
I have just returned from a weeks stay at the Mar Alimuri Hotel in Meta (near to Sorrento) I have to say how disappointing the hotel actually is. I’ve stayed in many beautiful 4 star hotels all over Europe and farther afield so my expectations were high. I’d spent time prior to my holiday reading reviews on TripAdvisor and other sites, which ultimately gave me a genuine positive insight into what to expect! However, this was not the case. The hotel albeit quaint, art decor, and nautical themed, is old, tired, and actually not as clean as one would expect. In my opinion it genuinely needs a huge refurbishment. Upon arrival we were shown to our double deluxe sea view room where the staff member turned on the air conditioning as I watched the control dial fall off into his hand he assured me it was working...actually we didn’t have any problem with the air conditioning it worked ok. We were left to settle into our room and to my absolute shock I opened our balcony doors to find a bulldozer levelling the beach expelling huge clouds of diesel fumes and making the droning noises you’d expect from this type of machinery.....not only that but a sea dredging crane then appeared and began dredging the sea and reinforcing the coastal defences this went on until 6.30pm! Great just what you need we’re spending a week looking at a building site....I was under the impression it was picturesque Sorrento! This work carried on for at least 4 days of our weeks stay! The mini bar fridge in our room,smelt like someone had vomited in it and then closed the door, we reported this immediately it was subsequently cleaned but it remained to smell vile all week so when you opened the door to take out your bottled water you had to grit your teeth in order not to inhale such an insipid smell! The bathroom wasn’t clean the shower was located in the middle of the wall not over the tap area of the bath! The shower head was a shade of mid brown and the water literally trickled out so.....not too much shower gel applied as it would have taken a week to rinse off! The bath slowly filled with water when you showered as the plug hole was a lovely shade of black upon close inspection it revealed goodness knows how much congealed body hair.....vile! This was reported however, little or no effort was made to clean and sanitise the area consequently we had to make do with a slow emptying bath from showering and not think about the breeding ground of bacteria in the plug hole! The food was hit and miss on both quality, presentation, and temperature. For example, I find it hard to enjoy cold scrambled eggs in a morning especially with a lovely skin on the top! Often table cloths were dirty , cutlery missing, condiments missing, and often glasses weren’t exactly sparkling clean either! The staff at the hotel are hard working and very animated some of them do their absolute best to help you, provide a good service etc however it was observed that they tended to favour some guests over others! We made the most of our holiday in Sorrento in fact we really enjoyed it would we return to the Mar Alimuri not until money is spent bringing it up to a 4 star standard it’s advertised and charged at.
Myself and my boyfriend have just returned from our week long stay at this hotel and we cannot fault 1 thing, everything was 5 star! We were staying in a room without a balcony situated towards the back of the hotel however we knew this as this is what we had booked ( I was abit unsure at first however the room and bathroom was great, spacious and clean!) Food at the hotel was also great! I have never stayed all inclusive before but my boyfriend has stopped at many all inclusive resorts and he said this was the best food he had had. There was a daily buffet but you could also chose from a menu and this varied every day and there was lots of choice. The hotel has a pool area and also has a beach with a jetty that you can sit out on (see picture). All staff were very friendly and hard working! The waiters always made conversation and you could have a laugh with them. Nothing was too much trouble. We booked a trip through the hotel which was the Amalfi and Positano boat ride which we would recommend doing. On one day we went to Pompeii however did this ourselves which was cheaper than booking through a trip, as a single train ticket was only €2,40. The hotel runs a shuttle bus to Sorrento town and back throughout the day which is a great bonus as taxi's are very expensive (we paid 35euro to the train station on the morning of a trip) however did not make this mistake again. We used the spa facility on one of the days as the weather was raining and thunderstorms and we enjoyed this experience very much. The girls in the spa were so friendly! The hotel had local entertainment on a night which was lovely, the waiters even sang on occasions which was also nice! One week was not long enough for us and we will definitely be returning to Sorrento and this hotel. Thank you Mar Hotel Alimuri!
My husband with our friends, another couple stayed at the Mar Hotel Alimuri for the first time but it certainly won't be our last. Loved everything about this hotel, the food and drink was excellent, all the staff were amazing, the bar staff Giovanni, Alfonso and the bar manager, the waiter service Francesco C, Cicco. Entertainment excellent, had to get up and dance every night, loved so much. Even the shuttle service into Sorrento was excellent. Beautiful hotel, spotlessly clean, the cleaning staff do an amazing job, thank you all for making our holiday the best ever, we love you all and I repeat, we will be returning and look forward to seeing you all again, missing you all already xxx
Just returned today from an incredible week at the Mar Alimuri from the moment we arrived we got ushered straight into the restaurant for lunch to be met by the fantastic waiters, buffet, al la carte, fresh made pizza, nothing was to much trouble and all delicious. With out a doubt the best food we have ever had at an all inclusive hotel. The drinks are really good too Peroni beer on tap at least 5 red wines plenty of white and rose too and of course plenty limoncello. The entertainment although a bit cheesy was good fun my wife and her friend were up dancing every night which seemed to lift the atmosphere. Usually a guy with a piano playing Italian themed songs. The hotel rooms are large and airy and never got too hot, it is not a modern hotel but doesn't pretend to be. But what really makes the hotel is the staff a big mention to Ciccio C and Francesco C who looked after us all week in the restaurant And of course the amazing bar staff including the twins Giovanni and Alfonso. Didn't want to leave.
A beautiful hotel with amazing food. What made our stay special was all the staff; cleaners, waiters and bar staff went to a lot of effort. (The twins are hilarious) We travelled with a young baby and he received a lot of special attention from the waiters! This is the first hotel I’ve been to where you can go down at anytime and get a sunbed right by the pool. This was because the hotel wasn’t oversubscribed and guests could choose between the beach, the deck and the pool. We stayed in a family room and it was a very good size.
My husband and I have just got back from an all inclusive 11 days stay at this hotel. We had a great time. The view from the room was breathtaking and the location is very relaxing. The shuttle bus runs hourly into Sorrento if you want to get out to explore the main town which is lovely. Trips were all great although if you do the boat to Amalfi and Postatino it’s a bit rocky at the start but settles down after 30 mins. The staff are lovely and always keen to hear where you have been especially if it’s where they are from. On this note we have to tell you about Francesco Coumo. What a lovely man ( from Pompei) he is one of the restaurant staff and is so friendly, so polite and just wants you to have a great time. He always knew what wine we liked and was just amazing.
I have just arrived back from this beautiful hotel but sadly the whole visit was ruined by rude unfriendly reception staff. The hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms are clean, spacious and have fabulous sea views. Maids are very friendly and work really hard maintaining the rooms and guest areas. The pool area is lovely and the bar and restaurant team are extremely hard working and friendly. Special thanks to the twins who are always checking that guests are happy and are very hardworking. The food is nice but not fantastic. Nothing was very hot. I ate out several times as there wasn’t much variety but this was maybe a personal preference. Drinks are great and wine was very nice. The shuttle bus was great as taxis are very expensive to this location my only issue was the bus comes back to early on an evening. A later bus in the summer would have been better. So why would I only give 3 stars.......... well I have never been spoken to so rudely as I have been by the reception team at this hotel. On arrival the young lady was nice and helpful but every male on the desk that I encountered was beyond rude. As we where leaving we went to pay our bill. The bill that was given to us said 81euro. When we got to reception that bill had gone up to over 120 Euro’s. If you are the hotel manager please view the CCTV and witness how your male reception team member threw the bill across the desk at me. I left at 6am on Friday morning. The bill was paid as requested but if a mistake had been made then we should have been informed. The attitude of that man was completely uncalled for. Maybe post the bills the day before departure so that any anomalies can be discussed and rectified prior to departure. There was approximately 50 people in reception that witnessed this as did the lady from Thomas Cook. Also to add the receptionist had no chance at all so every couple that paid the 28 Euro resort tax had to give him 30 euros so he made a tidy little bonus that Morning. I would not return to this hotel purely because of reception.
We stayed here for a week and arrived back yesterday (boo) Firstly for the negatives, the rooms could use a revamp, our Aircon leaked and the walls had really bad damp which has resulted in my getting quite a bad chest. The hotel in general is worn in places. The beach is rocks and NOT sandy at all as was mentioned on the website. The reception staff are a huge letdown and gave us a bad impression, the girls are rude but there is a man who's English is terrible and he was SO RUDE in the few times we spoke with him. Entirely brings the place down. The rest of the staff however, absolutely AMAZING! We jotted down a few names but unfortunately I have forgot most of them. The restaurant staff cannot do enough for you ever, some of the best service and food (buffet and menu), Francesco C was so so so good along with the rest of the team (there's an older man, a guy with a moustache, a man with big glasses) literally all of you made this trip for us! Same with the bar staff, the twins, Pasqualeee and Vincenzo were so accommodating and funny and made the experience so so so good. The pool area is small but honestly it was enough for us and the pool was nice. The evening entertainment was what it was. Few people moaning but honestly after a few cocktails we were quite happy with having a sing along. Weather was lovely and the shuttle busses etc are reliable and easy. Have only marked as three stars due to the fact some revamps are needed, the reception staff are very bad and the beach being stones. Aside from that it was one of our favourite holidays and we want to thank the restaurant and bar staff for making that so!!! ❤️
The team in the restaurant and bar areas are wonderful and cannot do enough to help you. The views are amazing and the rooms are spacious. However the reception male staff are extremely rude. They added another £50 Euros to my bill which was increased at checkout but with no breakdown. Extremely upset with how we were treated by the reception after a lovely week in this hotel.
