Stayed here for a week all inclusive on a very busy sold out week in October. Our room faced the road as we'd only booked a standard room, but it was fine, in good decorative state and roomy enough, except the shower cubicle which was like a coffin, but we managed. The hotel is situated on a small pebble beach (take a snorkel as there's lots of fish around the rocks) just outside Sorrento., about 20 mins by shuttle bus . I loved the Art Deco feel of the place and some areas looking very grand and opulent, but some areas were a bit more tired, like the exterior, but that probably due to the sea air. The thing that makes this hotel special are the wonderful staff, especially the restaurant staff, who are all lovely, helpful and smiley. I have to mention the twins Giovanni and Alfonso who were both such lovely young men and really looked after us. If we were in the area again, I would definitely say here?
The Marhotel Alimuri, is a nice and small hotel I have had the pleasure of visiting. However, there are many "little" things about this hotel that add up to me not being able to fully enjoy my visit here. For example, the balcony doors are very difficult to open, this may good if you have young children as they will not be able to get onto the balcony on their own, but it is still difficult for adults a like to open the balcony door. Also the safe, our safe has alone been broke 8 times during our visit here of 2 weeks. The hotel is great for teenagers who don't like using the internet, because even though there is wifi it is appalling. Another complaint I have to make is the steps onto the beach and deck, the bottom step of both to the deck and to the beach is gigantic in fact you have to pretty much jump down them which is dangerous especially for young children. The food here however is clean and edible and they do have a children's menu but for the adults there is not much choice and the food can be delicious but it has to be to your taste, because they don't have many options, and if you find anything you like you better save it while it lasts as most food is not repeated very often. But there are also many positives to this hotel too, in away the awful wifi is good because it allows you to actually communicate with other people here and not constantly be on your phones all the time. Another good thing the views they are AMAZING and I really enjoy them, and even though the pool is small it doesn't matter because the sea is warm and clear and is perfect for swimming in. But the best thing about this hotel is the staff, they are extremely friendly and kind to you during your whole trip, you can never catch them without a smile on their faces. Overall I would said that this hotel is a great hotel and I've really enjoyed my visit here and even though it can sometimes be a hit and miss I would recommend taking the risk because it is an amazing place with amazing views.
We stayed at the Alimuri in May, along with about 30 of our friends and family. We were getting married at the Sorrento Clousters so wanted to stay some where near by. The Alimuri was absolutely amazing! By the first day they knew all of our names, knew what relation we were to each other and took absolutely amazin care of us. Considering I had flowers being delivered, hair and make up artists and photographers coming in on the wedding day, they couldn't have been more helpful. They brought us up Champagne on the morning of the wedding and nothing was too much trouble. Every single member of staff was friendly and lovely. The rooms at the hotel were beautiful. Can't recommend this stunning hotel enough. Thank you to all the staff at the Mar Hotel Alimuri for making myself and our guests feel so welcome and looked after! Xxx
To celebrate our ruby wedding anniversary we decided to go to a place we talked about going to throughout those forty years - Sorrento and together with four friends visited Mar hotel Alumuri in September. what a disappointment!!!. I will start with the positives beautiful sunsets, courtesy bus to Sorrento approx seven miles away, waiters Giuseppe, Alfornso, Giovanni, Luca and Roberto. The hotel is very art deco which wouldn't have been a problem had essential cleaning and maintenance been carried out and upgraded where necessary. Our bathroom was very small the bath difficult to get into and handles on bath rusted. Corners in the restaurant of which there were many due to the abundance of columns were filthy. People mentioned the Al a carte menu making the meals special we found it confusing initially and then quite annoying because it was hard to know when to order it as timing of its arrival varied meal by meal and I would never call an omelette Al a carte. We felt the reason for the Al a carte which was small portions and interesting ingredients was to save money because compared to the barely warm numerous pastas on the buffet which was basically pasta and tomato sauce, people given the choice would pick the Al a carte in bigger servings. The vegetables on the buffet were purposely served cold and show cooking by was pizza, burgers and hot dogs and the number of children there could be counted most of the two weeks on one hand. We had four days of dismal weather torrential rain and storms which can't be blamed on the hotel but the fact that the place was just not able to cope with the number of guests to any degree throughout those days ie no outside dining or seating areas in use meant the only places people could sit was bar 30ish seats, reception again max 25 seats or your room, while a huge room next to indoor pool stood empty and, if you did not have to pay 15 euros to use indoor pool at AI hotel it could have been utilised. Evening dining also more chaotic due to all having to dine inside. Each day after the storms the small beach (stone pebbles) and sunbathing deck could not be used due to clearing up debris or the sea surrounding the ramp onto the deck meaning dramatic decrease in sunbeds and the pool while deep was very small. Bar service was erratic and not sufficiently manned to serve and clear tables, wash glasses etc my husband was served G & T in pint glass yes filled to top and my kir royale came in an far from elegant half pint glass. As for the mimed " entertainment" it was pathetic and taped music would have been far superior. Couldn't wait to get home!!!
Although in general our two weeks were enjoyable, certain important aspects of our stay were very disappointing. Firstly the good points; a good position near the beach, great views of the bay of Naples and accommodation/rooms were comfortable. However, the food was at best satisfactory, but there were issues with the temperature of the so called `hot food` , which in most cases was just warm. The bar staff were incompetent and surly, and the restaurant staff were at times patronizing. The entertainment, if that is what it can be called; was a disgrace. The two alternating `performers` could not play the keyboard and just mimed to the music. When they chose to sing it was barely adequate. Piped music would have sufficed, to avoid the mass exodus from terrace. Finally, the location of the hotel restricted sight seeing to the Shuttle Bus to Sorrento.
Rooms were very clean and very traditionally decorated, in fact the whole hotel was the same. Amazing detail work and marble throughout the hotel. Restaurant and bar staff were extremely helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Food was the BEST ive ever had on all inclusive. not only was there a buffet breakfast lunch and dinner but you were able to order off the a la carte menu also which was fab and made it feel special while you were sitting outdoors watching the sunset while eating. Hotel was in perfect location in terms of closeness to most excursions. However it was quite far from the center of Sorrento and had to walk through a dark tunnel to get to any other shops. So definitely better if you wanted to stay at the hotel and maybe venture out once or twice only. Entertainment was the same man every night 'singing' and 'playing the keyboard' - i say this in speech marks as i'm almost 100% sure most of the time it was just a track playing and him miming. The only other problem i would say is that the reception staff were not the most helpful. but overall a fantastic holiday and hotel
A wonderful hotel with classic decor. Highlights included excellent food, the most attentive staff I have ever come across. They really were a credit to the hotel. The rooms were lovely and clean and having the beach right in front of the hotel was wonderful. The shuttle into Sorrento was also appreciated. My only downside was the Spa. It looked lovely but was advertised as whirlpool and sauna. The 'whirlpool' was actually a swimming pool with bubbles. Too cold to use as a jacuzzi but not easy for swimming with the bubbles. Plus the sauna was only big enough for 2 people to use at a time so you had to book a slot, not really worth the 15 euros for 2 hours limited to use. Overall a wonderful hotel, clean, great staff and excellent accommodation.
I really enjoyed the holiday we do not normally eat all the time in the Hotels with All Inclusive as its not very good standard but this was the exception. It was great the Alacarte was great wine fantastic and the best staff i have known in a hotel. I asked to speak to the restaurant manager he looked really worried until i said how amazing the staff are. Rooms are dated but how long are you in them for really?
Stayed at The Mar Hotel Alimuri middle of October 2017. Our parties ages ranged from 8 months to 67. Thank you to all the staff who made it one of our most enjoyable holidays. I can't recommend them highly enough. The waiters couldn't do enough for you and were such lovely people. Food and drink was superb with lots of choice. The hotel is pure Italian decadence. Very beautiful. Couldn't get over the lights in the dining room. Beautiful sea views. My daughters family room was more like a suite. The hotel was spotlessly clean with Housekeeping very efficient and always on hand. Shuttle Bus service into Sorrento works really well, again Reception and Drivers so helpful. Thank you to everyone from the Hotel for making our family holiday a wonderful experience. Would love to go back.
The hotel was very satisfactory in all respects, our room was comfortable and clean with a sea view but was partially obscured by a wall separating the balcony from the room next door, no matter the fact the hotel is on the beach gave us the wonderful sound at night of gentle waves lapping the beach. The food was plentiful and variable with an added choice of A La Carte for dinner., this was a new experience for us with All Inclusive. The restaurant staff were superb and no requests were too much trouble. If you are considering this hotel you will find it difficult to find one better in our opinion.
