We have just returned from a very memorable holiday at the Alimuri Hotel. Don't get taken in by the front door !!!. The complete staff, food, service and sea location is 1st class. It is ideally situated 4 km away from Sorrento (out of the rat race). A great place to visit. Book the hotel transport there and back and it works well and see the locals at work.. In Sorrento you must visit the Foreigners Club - sit and admire the views with a coffee across Naples bay. Also Fattoria Terranova in Tasso Square - sample the lemons etc free. We also did Pompei and Vesuvius in one day. A great trip and worth every penny with our coach guide. I wouldn't like to find our way on trains and bus. Be guided....... Amelphi and Ravello is also a great trip - remember the camera and do a boat trip off the queue side 12 Euro. We will be back..... The hotel made our holiday Thankyou....
We have just returned from a one week stay here over Easter. This hotel has character, and we found it very clean, the staff were all professional and polite. We loved the quaint little town of Meta and the views out to sea and Sorrento. The sunsets with a bottle of Red on the balcony and the sound of the waves at night. We tried the spa which is very good would recommend. Also the beauty room. We found the food good for the money we paid and were surprised there was an a la carte waiter service available. This hotel supplies a really frequent shuttle service into Sorrento which we used most days the drivers were very patient on the busy narrow roads. This really is a great location to stay right on the beach and a good base for exploring, we went to Capri the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii. The only gripe we had was that on arrival we were given a street view room on a low floor, we were compensated by receiving a better room with a seating area for the next six nights. Also we had a problem with the safe. The wifi was free and the connection good. All in all I think we would return again maybe late May when the weather is warmer. .
We came away purely to relax and enjoyed the facilities promised, sadly the hotel lacked in a lot of ways... We travelled as a couple on all inclusive. The food was of a good standard but we have had better in 3 star all inclusive establishments. The scrambled eggs often very runny. A lot of the fare is either cold or lukewarm. My husband did get a bad stomach half way through the week, he only drank the still water and ate at the hotel so I will leave you to draw your own conclusions? Once breakfast has finished at 9.30am you have to wait till 11am for the bar to open to get liquid refreshments of any sort. No teatime snacks are put out other than a plate of biscuits? The restaurant staff are polite and friendly, especially Julio and Francisco. There were a couple of members of the bar staff that would benefit from a course in customer service. Drinks are good and plentiful. Fruit was brought round in plastic cups on a couple of occasions in the afternoon. If you want a glass for your drink please specify! Rattan seating outside on bar terrace on our first couple of days had comfy cushions, they were taken in one afternoon when the weather changed and not bought out again unless you asked for them...asking for them was a chore in its self as you were made to feel like an inconvenience. No air con in the rooms, when asked we was told by reception that it was broken and would be fixed after the Easter weekend...big fat lie!! It is in fact not turned on until the 1st of may! Our balcony had 2 chairs but no table. Room cleaned daily but walls were scuffed and ideally need repainting. Only BBC news on the tv, no other English channels. Getting a hot shower is very hit and miss. €15 per person to use the indoor pool/spa facilities. Be aware that lighting is very poor and serious falls have occurred resulting in one lady being hospitalised. Rusted balconies being painted whilst rooms are occupied. Private beach... omg cordoned off with pallets and rope, but the view is stunning. Pool/beach/towel guy is lovely. Entertainment mainly dire with the exception of the duets. Our departure was a 7am pickup from hotel, we was told that the restaurant would be opened at 6.30 so we could grab a coffee before leaving, stood outside and was ignored by staff and not allowed in, had to wait until getting to the airport ! We did complain to reception but it fell on deaf ears unfortunately. Gentlemen are asked to wear long trousers for the evening meals. City tax is €1.50 per person per night. We did meet lots of amazing fellow guests and had plenty of laughs. This hotel would benefit from a complete overall as tired and dated, we did not feel that we got value for money. They seemed no where near ready to receive guests. We will not be returning or recommending this hotel.
With some time off we were looking for a quick break. We Found this hotel through Saga and when we arrived we were impressed. The Hotel is a typical Italian one with grand decor and well trained staff who could not do enough for you. We had a room on the 4th floor, room 416 views across to Sorrento and they were breath taking. Our stay was complemented by the weather which was warm and all day sunshine for all 7 days. Our room, food and drinks were all inclusive and there was endless choice of good quality food. Our room was kept in good order. We will defiantly be going back.
This is a beautiful hotel in the most amazing setting. The views from the dining room, bar terraces and most of the rooms is breath taking. The room I had was large and airy but sadly had no sea view. The restaurant is amazing - at lunchtime we sat outdoors under parasols to keep the sun off and were treated to views of the blue sea, blue skies and the sound of waves. The buffet was the best I've ever had and the a la carte menu was good too - with local fresh fish offered every day. There were so many wonderfully prepared vegetables, and the cakes and puddings were out of this world. There was even a cookery demonstration once a week by the head chef. The coffee in the morning was strong and black - perfect - but they also had a samovar with boiling water for tea drinkers. I cannot stress too much what a beautiful hotel this is. I would love to go again.
I went here with the wife, kids (5 & 2) and Father-in-Law and it was excellent. By that I mean the location (quite and relaxed by the beach), the view of the sea and scenario from our balcony and the food were excellent. The free bus to Sorrento was useful as was getting dropped off at Meta Train Station meant that we could go to Pompeii to see the ruins with ease.
Spent a week all inclusive. Clean hotel with charming and helpful staff. Excellent and varied food, beach location, hotel shuttle bus to Sorrento and a brilliant base for exploring Sorrento, Naples and Pompeii. All easily accessible by train.
I have to be honest that I have mixed feelings about this hotel. I'm not sure whether it was because we went early or "out of season" but there weren't enough reasons to make this score higher than an "average". Fortunately we paid the extra for a sea view because the sunsets were absolutely mind blowing every evening as you look out at Capri. Most like us would be all inclusive so the drinks are as expected. Be wary drinking peroni all day as I'm sure you'll know it's a stronger brew than most. We were a little disappointed with the food options, by day 4 of 7 I was starting to wish I could cook something myself. Considering we were in Italy it lacked a little authenticity in flavour. The options are from the buffet or there is a a la carte menu to choose from, usually containing 3 or 4 options. We ordered from the a la carte menu twice but were still disappointed. It had a feel they were catering for a certain age rather than all. My partner and I treated ourselves to a spa treatment for the afternoon after a long days walk which was thoroughly enjoyable. Certainly worth the prices they had set and there is regular offers available for the spa. The rooms are clean and comfortable with additional blankets available if you feel cold. The fridge in the room was filled with water on a daily basis at no additional charge. Staff are friendly and will do everything they can to make you feel welcome including the complimentary shuttle service to Sorrento which runs every hour. To wrap up, I would recommend the hotel a mid range cost hotel but if you are happy to spend a little extra I would consider others.
As a first time traveler to Italy we were astounded at the views as we traveled to our Hotel the Mar Alimuri. We where a little perturbed when we arrived at Meta as we thought we would be closer to Sorrento, but on reflection it was close enough with free shuttle buses to Sorrento. We had booked a double room with a sea view & jacuzzi, the room was split into two separate rooms +bathroom with shower! but overall seemed dated but clean but as we have not been to Italy before we have nothing to compare it with. The view from the room was fantastic, from morning till the sun setting on an evening. Air conditioning not available until May and as it was excellent weather while we were there the room was very hot, requested a fan from reception but none available. TV had lots of channels but only one in English (BBC News channel ) The staff could not do enough with Roberto in the bar Gulio in the restaurant with Francisco ,Sabatino ,Carmen there service was outstanding Around the pool/beach Towels are Available from Francisco who looked after the sun beds, towels and general cleaning. Pool area small ,beach is pebble stones, foot wear require to walk into sea We had a few problems with the safe but the problems were rectified very quickly. We travelled to Capri & Pompeii well worth the it. The evening entertainment was very poor, seating could be a lot bettering in the Bar. This is the most relaxing holiday we have had ,we will return to this Hotel in the future.
Had a week's holiday with partner and daughter staying at the Alimuri on an all inclusive package. Building exterior was a bit tired but inside was a lovely. Art Deco with marble everywhere. Check in was fine and the staff were very welcoming, informative and spoke excellent English, which was a blessing as my Italian is pathetic. The room was a junior suite with a jacuzzi and a balcony facing out to sea with an utterly amazing view of the bay with Capri in the distance. The restaurant was great with amazing staff. The food included a mixed hot and cold buffet, but with a-la-carte options as well. Breakfast was also a buffet with lots of choice. They had difficulty grasping the concept of a glass of wine and we were just given a bottle when we asked...fine by me 😊! They were also really clued up on gluten free requirements and couldn't seem to do enough for us. They really made us feel welcome and valued as customers. The bar was open from 10am til late and served the normal kind of domestic beers and spirits you would get in an all inclusive hotel, but it was pretty good. Evening entertainment was a bit cheesy but it wasn't too loud and we slept well - especially with the sound of the waves. We were lucky as the temperature was pretty high the week we stayed, but the air con was not available until June so it did get a bit warm at night, but I'd rather that than have it freezing. There was a regular free shuttle bus to Sorrento and the hotel offered a number of excursions. Some of these were a bit pricey, but the one to Vesuvius and Pompeii wasn't too dear and the excursion itself was great. We absolutely loved our holiday there and would heartily recommend it.
