Love the ambience, and the never-ending fire in the hotel lobby. I did not like being charged a day rate to use the spa pools on top if having tl pay the daily resort fee.

Friendliness of the staff. Attention to detail. Well appointed rooms. Very pretty grounds. Lots of amenities.

a historic and romantic destination. always filled with cozy couples. i've been here both for a romantic trip and a family getaway and was not impressed on both occasions. our room was by far the most disappointing...you could hear the traffic, the breezeway felt motel-like, and the rooms need major updating. there was a loud rippling sound coming from the air conditioner all night. family pool is pleasant enough but there are so many other pools for children in sonoma and rooms that are more accommodating/luxe. I never shoot for the moon with hotel food but I was very disappointed by their offerings. the kids cheeseburger is the size of one small slider...no joke, and I don't know how they justify charging a kid's plate like this for $18. i've been to michelin restaurants at the monarch, ritz and other hotels and while they charge mile high for the entrees the kids offerings are always fair. To boot, my taco salad was probably the most boring, unappetizing salad I've had in years.

It was nicer than expected, with a dog on short notice we only had a few choices. Would go again, with or without our pet.

We had been to the Fairmont several years ago and had a great experience. The spa was wonderful and we enjoyed it immensely. This time we were very disappointed. When we arrived, we were given the option to "upgrade" to a Mission Suite, "honeymoon" quality room, since it was my birthday. So we spent an extra $100 per night, expecting a top quality room. The room was very nice with a fireplace and Jacuzzi tub. However, being a light sleeper, I was woken up each night by the people above us flushing the toilet several times a night, having a coughing fit, and even snoring! Then we tried going to the spa and were told that the spa was an extra $49 fee for each person per day. Can't believe that the "honeymoon" suite wouldn't include the spa. Being that it was late afternoon, we didn't want to pay the extra money for an hour in a heated pool. So we went over to the hotel pool which was a major disappointment. Not heated, no Jacuzzi and the pool bar was closed. I must say that the resort is looking very dated. And for what we spent a night, it did not live up to its reputation. Won't stay there again.

Beautiful linens and curtains. Very classy. Checking was easy.

We were only there for 1 night so did not get to use any of the facilities but the staff was very friendly and welcoming, the room was spotless and well appointed if a little bit small.

All great. The only surprise was that they charge us for a cheese plate during the wine hour which was free at the same time the year before.

The room was very small, as was the bathroom. Hardly any space around the bed and very few places to put things in the bathroom. More than necessary room in the closet. The hotel staff were OK, but the feeling that they felt everyone there should be wealthy and snobbish was disappointing. It was like being in a club house but not a member. The restaurant was ridiculous with wine by the glass going for $30 to $60. The lobby was uncomfortably cold.

Staff were friendly. The rooms had lush comfortable bedddings. we didn't want to leave the room.
