From reception to departure we were treated well. Food was good though a bit more variety would be nice. Rooms were spacious , clean and so quiet. This was amazing since Olympic Marseilles were also staying that night
Stayed here a lot, as well placed. Last reviewed Sept 2016. Flagged up that the nasty plastic woven chairs in the restaurant were falling apart. Well, one year on and its worse. Chairs still the same, breakfast coffee and bread weak and tasteless (Coffee/bread bad in FRANCE?) Broken patio tiles and frankly quite dangerous looking set of steps out to garden. Fortunately raining (!) so didnt try them out. Poor staff and guests. They deserve better.
An accessibilty room was booked through Booking.com with a specific requirement for a walk in shower. Our room did not have this facility and we were told that none of the rooms had a seperate shower and the receptionist didn't know what was meant by a 'walk-in' shower!! So instead of staying 2 nights we cut short our stay and left after one night. This is a premium class hotel advertising a facility which they can't meet
We stayed a night and found the hotel, which is popular with local salesmen and travelling workers, to be tried and seriously needing a makeover. It was somewhat like going back to the 70/80's to the Plastic Bertrand era. The carpets have cigarette marks on them and looked unclean. However, the beds were great and they supplied firm pillows, which allowed for a good nights sleep - which added a star to the review!
Booked a 'superior double', carpet was tired and well trodden, sofa bed not prepared for my children, not really superior compared to the double room I stayed in Novotel Limoges the night before. Reception and staff very friendly on the whole. Swimming pool great for the kids. Just needs freshening up. Only about 4 miles from the centre of Amiens so pretty close.
Tired and in need of renovation - broken floor tiles, paint and plaster peeling off in the rooms and front entrance. Food and service reasonable. I've been to hundreds of Novotel and this one is the shabbiest.
We had a lovely stop here. The room is basic but clean and the bathroom was clean and plenty of hot water. We only had drinks in the bar. Asked for Heineken but got another draught beer. Glasses had residue on them and tainted the beer. Ended up asking for bottled beer and not using glasses to ensure it was as it should be. Stick to bottled beer!
restaurant terrible.rude staff, awful bland food.never stayed ni a novotel like it. it was like fawlty towers!! it reminded me of french customer service from 30yrs ago!! i politely in french asked for a table for 5 to be told without a smile go over their-we think we got to the correct table but were not shown to it. she was more polite than the male waiter.who arrived 10mins later with menus.got the order wrong but he insisted that it how it came.we had to start leaving to actually get a bill dont use restaurant here.
The hotel is on the outskirts of Amiens with amenities only really accessible by car. The hotel itself had very limited options for food and drink for customers arriving late at night. There seemed to be no option for food to be taken to eat in the rooms. There was no stock in the minibar if you wanted a drink and the restaurant was expensive with a simple bottle of red wine costing from 25 Euros. We drove towards Amiens centre and bought a decent bottle of wine from a local late shop at an absolute fraction of the price, 7 times less. That is some mark up. We also bought kebabs and ate them in our room. The trips out of the hotel made us late for bed when all we really wanted was a good night's sleep. The hotel itself was dingy, even the Novotel sign has broken lights on two letters and the carpets in the long corridors were grubby and stained. The room has pebble dashed white walls and the shower unit is like the ones you get in a caravan. The air conditioning seemed only to have a heating option, no cool air. There were just two coffees sachets and two milk substitute servings for 4 people, and only one normal tea. These things are cheap, so why economise so much? Even the cups were made of paper. Last point, the children's beds were not made up on arrival, it was just a double and a settee, so we had to ask reception for help. I think there is a lot of scope for improvement at this hotel, which is a far lower in standard than other Novotels I have stayed at (eg Porto, Cologne, Venice, Rome). The only positive I have from this experience is the quality of the kebabs, which were totally unlike those in the UK and made with real lamb. The kebab shop is on the right just 3 minutes or so as you drive into Amiens centre. Worth bearing in mind if you find yourself stuck at this hotel.
We generally like Novotels, but this one was blah... We were supposed to have a queen bed and double bed; well the double bed ended up being a crappy fold-out couch that could not hold two young children, so one of our kids slept on the floor. The room was filthy (see attached photos).
