We stayed here a week and the hotel is close to supermarkets and restuarants nearby, or just a 10 minute drive into the centre of Amiens. We did a number of day trips in various directions and this Hotel was central to all the places we wanted to go. The Hotel needs a little care and attention, however the managment and staff were all most helpful and the things that they could do for us they did. Drinks and food were fine and reasonably priced too.
We needed a 'better than basic' hotel within a couple of hours from Calais so that the long journey from Italy could be broken before the tunnel crossing. Having stayed several times at Novotel in Lyon and had an excellent stay with our dogs we were expecting a similar experience at Amiens. Disappointingly, Novotel Amiens is long overdue for refurbishment both inside and out. I told the reception of our 2 small dogs and was advised of the 11 euro cost per animal. (Lyon have never enforced the charge). On entering our room, it was apparent that either cleaning is not their strong point or were deliberately given a substandard room. The dogs were obsessed with the carpet odours! We were upset by the lack of cleanliness of toilet, bathroom and bedsheet (hairs aplenty). Staff moved us without quibble and the second room was perfectly acceptable. Staff were always friendly, if lacking in English (sorry but my language skills only stretch to Italian). After 600 miles at the wheel, I am not able nor do I have the energy to try and speak good French and I think it unreasonable for staff to expect it. The restaurant food was acceptable, breakfast also though the scrambled egg was stone cold. Overall, a real shame that our Novotel experience has been tainted. I hope things change quickly at Amiens as choice is limited.
I used this hotel for a one night stay en route to Chinon. I had 21 adults in the party, The hotel certainly is rather shabby and not worth 4 stars but it was acceptable as a one night stay. The room was clean , the bathroom was clean and the bed linen clean. I had a good nights sleep and no complaints from the rest of the party. The staff were helpful if rather disorganised. We had a set menu meal at night which was very good. These are often rather basic and tasteless but my group was served well cooked , tasty food. Compliments to the chef. The breakfast was also very good with everything you could want and more besides. Once the hotel has had a makeover it will be worth its 4 stars. Would I stay again ?. Yes , just for the food!!.
A very pleasant stay. Great food and drink. Great shower. Relaxing bed and good night sleep. We had children with us and the pool was a great additional benefit. The staff were very friendly and helped whenever they could.
Nice, friendly staff in all areas of the hotel. There is a good restaurant serving lovely food. Rooms have not had an update for sometime and bathroom areas, in particular, though clean could use an update.
We stayed here for 2 nights during what would be their peak period. We found the desk staff to be very friendly and obliging. However, our key cards would not allow us into our room. After 2 attempts at reprogramming the keys, the solution was that everytime we wanted to enter the room, we had to ask one of the desk staff to open it for us. Apparently the problem could not be fixed, and from what we saw and heard, other guests also had key issues!! Twice we were offered free drinks because of the problem. Why does everyone think the offer of a free drink will fix everything?? With the inconvenience we suffered, surely there are better options than offering the guests a free drink?? How about price reductions; discount on next Novatel stay, etc. The hotel is somewhat in need of some freshening up. The buffet breakfast was okay but there is room for improvements in the hot food area. A nice selection of pastries and bread was available. Definitely not up to the standards of other Novatel hotels we have stayed in.
We had overnight stay in the hotel during car journey. Hotel is good nice and clean, Staff pretend they cant speak English and everything seems to be a problem, we had to move reservation due ferry cancellation and been refused to do so so we landed with buying extra night. Also we could not bring toddler in to our room and had to buy extra room for 4 years old :D. Good facilities and food was excellent ruined by poor customer service in front office.
Like many Novotels, this is located on outskirts of the city, with easy access to the road network, and a short drive into the city centre. Warm and friendly check-in, and a clean and comfortable room in the usual Novotel layout. Free wifi access and usual bathroom extras. Fridge in room with complimentary water, and tea and coffee making facilities. Excellent restaurant for evening meal, and a good buffet breakfast with plenty of choice including cooked full English. Didn't have to check out until midday so able to have a leisurely morning before heading off. An as either a stopover, or for spending more time visiting the interesting city of Amiens and the surrounding area.
Normally great enthusiast of Novotel. Have stayed here en route to UK many times. It is beginning to look quite shabby - particularly the carpets. Expensive mid-week for non-business users at this time of year. Breakfast as at all Novotel was excellent. Dinner menu very limited and quality OK but not memorable.
We often stay in Novotels and this has to be the worst one we have stayed in so far. The stains on the carpets and furniture are very off-putting and quite revolting. Basically, the corridors and rooms need a face-lift, sooner rather than later. The bathroom is also dated, dirty and in need of a revamp. Other people's hairs were on the ceiling. Yuck. The positives: sufficient parking spaces, bar area, room safe and clean bed linen. Verdict: not worthy of the four stars
