Hotel Novotel Amiens Pôle Jules Verne4.0 out of 5.0

This hotel is well situated on the outskirts of Amien and is ideally situated for visiting WW1 sites. The small paper cups provided in the room are not fit for anything other than an espresso. The room was extremely clean on the four days we stayed, but the carpet in the room was badly stained in several places and needs to be replaced immediately. Two reports on two separate days to a female member of staff on reception that the safe was not working in our room (159) were to no avail; it was still not working when we left! The noise level at the hotel was very low during our stay. Very helpful, professional young gentleman on reception made us feel very welcome.
Well I wouldn't bother to review a "Highway Stop Hotel". But this one worth a very special mention ... Bad ! The room: Smell smoky, the predecessor didn't bother to respect the non signing. The smell was terrible, room service obviously didn't notice nor blocked the room. Usual Novotel, nothing fancy but what a filth in this one. A clean up or revamp is needed. The Restaurant: Overcrowded, best is tried coming from a staff doing its best with a smile regardless of the condition. Wine was hot and corked. Changed the bottle OK. Flamische was disgusting, the tart was wet and soaked, over salted. Couldn't eat. The steak tartare was ... too much egg, not enough meet, discolouration of the meet (?) and it looked like ... well really bad. Taste was weird. Bread was industrial but OK. Breakfast a simple but chaotic experience. If you can avoid: do it.
This hotel is a little on the shabby side but comfortable. There were not enough tea bags and no china cups only paper take-a-way cups. Paper water cups in the bathroom instead of glasses, however the quality of the meals in the dining room were good. The bar staff were a little inattentive and we had to wait some time for bar service
We chose this hotel for its convenient location to Amiens for the city and the nearby Theipval war memorial. Two night stay and we had a meal in the restaurant on one of those nights. So the (executive) room was ok - clean and comfortable and quiet. However - I wasn't expecting paper cups for the tea/coffee in the rooms with wooden stirrers. This hotel is supposed to be a four star hotel! - Really? paper cups and wooden stirrers?? The meal we "enjoyed" in the restaurant was a game of two halves - My chicken was ok but my wife endured an almost inedible steak. Breakfast again was surprisingly good one morning (When it was quiet) but not so good the next day when a group of cyclists had hoovered up all of the cooked scrambled egg and no more was forthcoming... I suppose given that we happen to pick voting day and the national holiday the day after meant that staffing numbers were down. That is however no excuse for senior hotel management who clearly failed to plan. I just got the feeling that whoever owns Novotel is screwing down on the costs no matter what! Not necessarily the hotel staff's fault . Paper cups? Wooden Stirrers? I think overall a TA rating of three is generous. I won't be staying at a Novotel again I think...
We choose to stay at this hotel again to break our journey. Hotel clean and friendly. Restaurant food good along with breakfast. Yet again we had issues with our room key card, this happened last time. Receptionist disappeared leaving note on desk to ring a number, why not have 2 on duty? Long ground floor corridor, when staying at Novotel in Metz they had scooters, why not join them and supply for guests?
The hotel itself was good. The rooms where very clean and tidy and OK size. The reception staff were good, however the bar staff were almost non existent, we waited nearly 15 minutes to get a drink which was a real shame.
I have stayed in this hotel on many occasions and have always found it to be clean and adequate for a business trip! It's nothing posh or luxurious but seems to tick all the right boxes, good breakfast, comfy rooms, friendly staff, reasonably priced restaurant and close to Amien and the industrial parks etc. There is a small swimming pool available which looks inviting on a hot day but I have never tried it!
Tired decor but rooms are decent size and functional for a stop-over. Plenty of free parking. Swimming pool was closed as we stayed off season. Breakfast was disappointing with limited selection. Unlikely to stay here again.
We have been staying here for many years as an overnight base for business visits. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable. The hotel is slightly dated, but that is a very minor comment. The location is great for access from the Amiens peripherique.
Nice hotel on the outskirts of Amiens, very well located to visit the battlefields of the Somme, very clean with an excellent breakfast, the dinner menu is a bit pricey though, but the food was excellent, the rooms are of a good size and very clean.....
