This is our 10th visit to kempinski soma bay, we consider this place as our second home also we know every single detail in this hotel. Unfortunately this is not kempinski we used to know, seems like the managment decided to attract all kinds of guests by providing offers with low rates specialy for families and of course this affected badly on the quality of guests. As an old Kempiniski guest I didn't used to find these kind of non classy guests in the hotel, the place became so crowd and noisy at pool, beach, spa areas, even restaurants, also affected on the cleanness of the place. We couldn't find any area to relax, the night shows became too noisy and singers performs with very bad voice. Room service became bad, staff were slow to respond as they serves large number of people in the same time. Really disappointed and if you will keep doing what you do you will lose your old valued guests !
I'm writing this review because I'm a fan of this hotel, not to simply criticize it. This was my fourth visit; the first since 2012. This hotel always had a special charm. Its entrance, staff hospitality, rooms, beach, pools, and restaurants always impressed me, with that extra attention to every detail. Even the guests were classy, at least most of them. But this sometime, it felt different. Obviously the challenges facing the tourism sector has forced the hotel to attract a different type of clients. Rooms are not cleaned well enough. Some of the towels don't smell good. Service is slow. Staff isn't as pleasant as they used to (I asked for a 1-hour late check-out and was denied). Evening live entertainment (with the exception of the singer on August 17th) makes you hate every song that was performed. The food isn't as tasty and well presentedas it used to be. Guest relations and front desk hardly pick up the phone when you call. And the list goes on.... Kempinski Soma Bay has one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. I really hope this hotel returns to how it used to be 5 years ago. Mohamed Hanafi
This is our fourth visit to this stunning hotel and every time we return here, the service always exceeds our expectations. Upon arrival and after being greeted with a welcoming smile by Mr Sameh Shaaban, we were escorted to our suites. The rooms were very spacious, clean and with a breath taking view overlooking the swimming pool and the beach. Beds were extremely comfortable with very clean sheets and covers. Bathroom was immaculate with a bathtub allocated next to a large window with views of the crystal clear blue sea. We always stay half board at the Kempinski to enjoy the freshly cooked fish, steak and the various dishes that are prepared and well presented by top chef Mr Tariq Ghoneim. He will always be available at the main restaurant during dinner and breakfast time to make sure that everything is immaculate and top notch! Should you have anything in mind you would like to try during your stay, he will go out of his way to make sure it's prepared. During breakfast time, you will be spoilt for choice with the variety of continental and international dishes you can have. Freshly squeezed orange juice and freshly prepared omelette were our favourite especially with the Pasterma. The traditional foul and falafel were very tasty; the falafel were freshly fried while your were waiting !. We decided to go snorkelling. So Mr Sameh, again with an amazing smile, put us in touch with Chico, sports and recreational supervisor at the hotel, to arrange a snorkelling trip in a private yacht. He did not let us down! The next day, a yacht with a guide called Abdo, was waiting for us. Abdo took us into the middle of the sea to see the coral reef and the big variety of colourful fish. Followed by enchanting views of the sunset as it slowly disappears into the horizon. This trip lasted for a couple of hours and the cost was very reasonable. Should you decide to spend a day by the beach, then again, you will not be let down by the towel boys. The majority of them were very helpful and continuously made sure that we had sufficient dry towels for the kids and cold bottled water. Mohamed , Alaa and Amir were very professional with their service especially Mohamed , who took my girls on a snorkelling tour to see the coral close to the beach. During our stay at the Kempinski, we always pay a visit to the best Spa in Egypt, the Cascades Spa and Thalasso. The masseurs at the spa are very experienced and will make you feel regenerated and relaxed from the minute you step into the spa till the minute you leave. I recommend the ladies to try the Shirodhara massage. It's truly a unique and invigorating experience! There is no way you can fault this hotel; the staff, the food , the facilities and Mr Sameh Shaaban offer a fabulous 5 star deluxe service. You will fall in love with this place and start calling it home because you will feel as if it's truly your second home! Thank you so much for welcoming us back to our second home !
I would like to thank the Management for the excellent work that reflects on the staff service and attitude,The main reason I would come here again is the hotel staff Simply, they want to see you happy and ensure you had a remarkable time. The waiters in the main restauran are pushing their maximum efforts to leave a smile on your face, Especially Chef Tarek Excutive chef who used to walk and talk with all guests and getting their feedback about the food, The food is delicious with variety, Breakfast and dinner buffet is exceptional and many live station providing tasty food, The Reception and conceirge team were very warm and welcoming, Special thanks to Mr. Sameh ( Front Office Manager ) & Mr. Nasser for their hospitality and the great welcoming, The swimming pool is amazing, Spa and Recreation center was fantastic, I like the kids area where you keep your kids safely and monitored by the staff also many kids activities were available . The beach is sandy and clean. Water bottles are available by the pool and beach. Sea view rooms are great. The view is really nice. All in All, a very high standard of service. Keep it up! We travelled from Cairo to Soma Bay for a relaxing weekend after we had been working really hard for months! After our arrival, it took us less than 15 minutes to calm down completely and fall for the paradisiac surrounding: Soft sand beach, cristal clear water and a constant soft breeze. The hotel is tastefully decorated and the pool/garden area is lovingly layed out. The staff is as friendly as courteous and the new German GM is always there for his guests. Our room was very clean, bright and spacious. Booking it with lounge access turned out to be just right. The lounge is located in the pool area and provides you with a variety of tasty salads, sandwiches and warm dishes throughout the day as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. If you are not too much into snorcheling or diving but are still curious about the underwater world, make sure to go on a glassboat-trip for you will see colourful fish and stunning coral reefs without having to leave your comfort zone.
Love the place, it's well maintained, clean, organized with so friendly staff and highly professional. The menu of the open buffet every days is amazing from different cultures and all tastes waw 👌. It has two big swimming pools, one big lazy river and a wonderful beach with nice spots for snorkeling.
The hotel is more than perfect! Neat rooms, delicious food, friendly staff, nice pools, wonderful artificial swimming river and all the desired facilities are in place. The hotel is very convenient if you have kids, there's a kids club with various activities. Highly recommended!
We went to Soma in August on a family vacation and stayed for 3 nights in a double room with lagoon view. The room is spacious, clean, very comfortable, and the bed quality is perfect. The food is very delicious with a lot of varieties in breakfast and dinner. The service of the staff is very good, we were impressed with the service of the towels by the pools and beach and the fact that free cold mineral water bottles are offered all day long on the beach and pools. Thank you Kempinski will definitely return Slight recommendations are: -Provide kettle in the room -Add a small carpet in the room
- My husband and myself visited Kempinski Soma Bay twice (July 2016 and 2017) for our anniversary and will go again in September this year with my family. - Everything was just perfect. I have enjoyed my stay this year even more (except for one thing mentioned below), it seems there was a change in the management style, I found a welcome fruit box in my room and the food was amazing (quality and variety wise). Keep it up. - Staff at the beach and pools are so smiley and welcoming. - I hope when I go this September with my family I find everything perfect. I want them to share the same fabulous experience (so please don't let me down). My aunt from NZ and my cousin from AU will be with me, and I am the one who recommended Kempinski. --> Areas for improvement: 1) Toilets at the reception are neglected and not clean (bad smell, no toilet paper, dirty) 2) The staff in the restaurant (the lady who takes the room number on entrance) needs to be smiley and welcoming. I want someone to smile at me not to scare me. -Last time we were there (July 2017) when we entered the restaurant for dinner, the lady stopped us telling my husband that he needs to wear shoes not slippers as this is the dress code for dinner. She was so rude in the way she told him so, she sounded like a teacher at school punishing her student, she was like "next time don't do this". Honestly we were offended specially that we were just there last year and no one said something about it. --> Comments on other feedbacks I read: - Someone said that the hotel charges for the tea set in the room. That is not right, it is just upon request and when you request it you get a completed kettle set with mugs, tea, coffee and sugar free of charge. - Other comment said that there are no water bottles in the room which is again not accurate. There is always water bottles in the rooms, not only that but also a complementary juice and soda in the mini bar which is refilled on daily basis. They give you water on the beach and the pool as well. - Others said the food is bad. I totally disagree. I travel a lot and the only 2 places that serve really good food are Kempinski Soma Bay and Baron Palace Sahl Hasheesh. Those are the only places by far that serves Fantastic food and deserts, I usually don't touch the deserts at hotels and resorts as they are inedible but not at Kempinski.
The place is overall wonderful, the breakfast is absolutely perfect full of varieties and delicious. Also loved the sparkling wine touch at the buffet. The dinner buffets were also great, but some nights weaker than others. Also sometimes there was a line for the grills, so it would be more practical for prepare some, before the guests arrive. The thing that annoyed us a bit is that there were noo drinks at all served at dinner, unless you get charged with really high prices. So your only option to get a sip of water would be to go back to the room which is not really logical. Also the room service was really weak. They only made the bed, nothing else, they don't use any detergents that would smell good for example so i believe there's some work that needs to be done there. Some of the waiters also had a bit of a weird attitude when asking for something. On the other hand the service at the beach was more than perfect, they would immediately come for help and bring us cold water and arrange a veey nice environment. Overall we would definitely come back, but we would try to avoid the busy season as the hotel was so crowded.
