This hidden treasure in the middle of the desert was a unique yet unforgettable experience. Daniela which was our highlight of our trip took amazing care of us. I hope when we come back she will still be there. To the rest of the staff (specially the Chef) the food was unbelievably delicious. Everything was perfect. I will recommend this place to anyone that loves nature and also a little bit of adventure. Can’t wait to be back.
Celebrated a very special anniversary in the desolate landscape around Moon Mountain, wined and dined in a marvellous setting. Watched the sun set only as one can do from an African country - calm and serene.
We had a great stay, we stayed 3 nights to have time to hike the dunes and canyon however it is an approximately 1 hour drive to Soussuvlei (60 km on a bad gravel road), If you want to stay closer to the dunes, look for Soussuvlei lodge or Soussus Lodge at or in the park If you want to relax for a while it is a perfect place; overlooking a great view from all lodges; They improved the Wifi; Nice TV room and cozy bar with stunning view; Buffet is not special but ok The small private pool was unfortunately a bit dirty, However the sunset from our balcony or view from bed was so fantastic!
Lodge is situated up in the mountain (steep climb - only with 4x4) and therefore the view is mindblowing. Food is also very good. Rooms with private spa available. I would give the accommodation, the Food, Service and view 5 stars, but unfortunately the room (especially bath) wasn‘t very clean. No windows in the Room, just screens (so no bugs or insects) and therefore it feels like sleeping outside.
Recently stayed here for two nights. Park at the bottom of the drive if you don’t have a 4wd and a wagon will come and collect you to take you to the area to check in. Tents spacious and nicely designed' very comfortable. Spacious bathroom but while we were there there was little hot water for shower (not the end of the world!) Full size refrigerator in room which was good. Hot drinks on tap at reception. Pack up breakfast ok, would be better to give list of what you would like and tick what you want, half of our pack up ended up in the bin. Breakfast in restaurant was woeful, worst we had out of everywhere we stayed, limited quantityof food and selection poor. Evening meal was served plated not buffet as expected, very average standard food. Staff very friendly and helpful. We stayed here to access the dunes at Sossusvlei. It is a 45min drive to the park gates then another 45mins drive to the Big Daddy dune. We stopped on our way to clim dune 45 then on to Big Daddy, in hindsight we wished we’d got straight to Big Daddy to climb earlier to avoid the heat walking back to the car. Overall, highly recommend Moon Mountain, great accommodation in isolated spot.
As soon as we drove up we knew it was going to be a special place. The large tented rooms lacked for nothing, the small plunge pool was just a bonus after a hot day out in the dunes. The wide open beautiful space of this area took my breathe away. The sunsets, the food, the staff - really my favourite place of our whole Namibian trip!...
This truly is a stunning place to stay in this area. We had three days and nights of utter tranquility in beautiful surroundings. The lodges are extremely comfortable, and even during the hot days and warm nights, a fabulous cooling breeze blows through the lodge due to being able to completely unzip the windows. The bed was ultra-comfy and the private plunge pool was great. Finally, the staff were all brilliant; super friendly and efficient, which made our stay even better. Highly recommended! Oh, and Wilson the resident moggy is very cute too...
We stayed there for one night. The rooms all have a beautiful view on the desert, and were clean and comfortable. The staff is nice. There is a little bit of wifi in the reception. We took the drive for the sundowners and had a wonderful time: we arrived in an - even more- remote area where we saw desert zebras and oryx running away. Chairs and a table were waiting for us, we climbed on a rock to admire the sunset, it was only us four and our lovely guide. A highlight of our trip! The only improvement point could be the food - at dinner we wanted to eat outside like other guests, but we were told our table was set inside - a bit disappointed by the lack of flexibility (and lazyness..?). Diner was a soup, then buffet with chicken, game meat, pasta, some veggie. One banana cake. Decent but not amazing. Same for breakfast, some eggs, one kind of yogourt, again, decent but could be better! But all in all we had a nice and happy stay, thank you for the sunset drive we really enjoyed!
We were stranded 3 ladies on the main road to Solitaire on 25 January 2019. Our car broke down and we had no where to go. Luckily we saw the Moon Mountain Lodge sign. We made contact and immediately the Manager himself came with his vehicle and fetched us and our belongings. We mentioned that we would like to just wait till our rescue vehicle arrives. Note this was at 18h00. He stayed up till past 01h00 am waiting with us. He even offered us free wifi, a meal and room to rest and refresh until our lift arrived. We were and still are in great awe and admiration at the gesture of kindness and extraordinary customer service shown by the Manager Hannes and his staff! We highly recommend this place where people with a true Namibian heart live to serve! PS: In all our turmoil we found rest while enjoying a glass of Wine on the terrass and watching the most beautiful sunset and sky decorated with countless stars and a bright moonlight!
We had booked our trip through Cardbox Gondwana. We booked a self drive your. Our last stop was at this wonderful lodge. We had rented a vehicle through Altura Travels. There where really friendly and assisted us well with a 4x4 vehicle for off road as this road is gravel. Moon Mountain Lodge was a decent surprise in a very dry road. Well nestled on top of the mountains. Please note that you can also leave your vehicle at the entrance if you don't have a 4x4 to go all the way up. They wikk assist with a vehicle to collect you. The room was quite nice and really comfortable. The scenery from the rooms is out of this world. The vast open plan! We had booked for a DBB whereby dinner that night was a full buffet. Food was served well that night. We had only booked one night and had a really nice breakfast the next morning before we departed. Our room had its own swimming pool. This place is definitely a must see when you visit this area in Namibia!
