Crowne Plaza Sohar

Oman is a country that has opened the last of all emirates. This can not be said for this hotel, because all the standards that Crown Plazza has in the world are respected.Food and service are perfect and enjoyment at the pool is unforgettable

I recently stayed in the Crowne Plaza on a business trip. The staff are very friendly, the pool area is beautiful and well covered for people to stay in the shade if the wish. The Sports bar is a bit small but nice, The food was very good with a wide range to choose from. The only down side was the renovations going on as you enter the from of the hotel. But I do understand things like this need to be done.

Called in for a drink and meal in the sports bar rather than restaurant. Food was good and the service was excellent. Nice to sit and relax in a clean comfortable environment, plenty sport on multiple tv's!

Had stayed here for a day and it was an amazing experience. The staff are amazing and the services they offer at this hotel is great. The food is excellent and room service is quick 👍👍. Lovely family get away place with a swimming pool sit out area and they cater to your needs accordingly.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks due to company work however I did not find this hotel worth it for the price my company paid for. Firstly I faced issue with the hot water coming in the room specially in early morning or in the evening. The hot water supply is not stable and very well distributed. They shifted by room however the same issue exists throughout the hotel. In the end they could not resolve the issue inspite of complain and I just managed my stay. The restaurant/breakfast is not of good quality and variety. The omelettes you get is half cooked even though you remind them to make them properly cooked. I would suggest that if someone is coming to Sohar to go choose other hotels, rather than wasting money on this

I can't believe this is the number 1 rated hotel in Sohar. It seriously makes me doubt Trip Advisor! The place is a ghost town. We stayed over a weekend and it was as if we were the only guests in the hotel. It was like being in an Oman version of The Shining, minus Jack Nicholson. It's a nice enough hotel and once it would have been seen as impressive. But the party has long since left and someone forgot to turn off the lights. The first room we stayed in the fridge didn't work, the fan in the bathroom didn't work or the sink in the plug. The view from the room was an industrial waste land, and a generator out the back kept us awake at night. After complaining we were very kindly moved to a suite with a view of the desert. This room was certainly very nice and the staff were certainly courteous, if a little dispirited by the lack of guests. The deserted pool was nice, again with waste land view, and the empty gym was well stocked but again no one - anywhere. The sports bar was silent and in fact in the entire weekend I only saw two other elderly guests. The problem is the location which is terrible. I was kicking myself as I chose this over the nearby Radisson Blu due to a big discount - don't make the same mistake. We went to the Radisson for dinner on the Friday night and I saw my glaring error. That place was buzzing, right on the beach, brand new with great location ... should have stayed there. And the look in my wife's eyes only made me feel worse. As the title says 'Bad choice'! Ten years ago the Crowne Plaza may have been the place but now it is a sad relic. In Sohar stay at the Radisson Blu.

The family was relatively happy to stay here. The staff, service, location and food were great! Rooms a bit too small, but ask and the hotel will help with whatever issues you may have. The gym and pool were great, clean and modern, good machinery and service.

Good people. Good location. Ideal and Convenient if you have work in Sohar industrial area. Utilises the natural terrain of Oman well, to create various elevations. Nice facade. The rear of the building could do with some make up, but I guess given the location, it is not deemed necessary. The reception was very helpful and smiling demeanor. Do not have a club lounge. Offered a welcome drink coupon. Thats fine, until you realise that redemption of that coupon will take you on a long trek to find the place. And then you are limited to having either a beer or a glass of house wine. How I wish they had a few more options for people like me who prefer a whisky to beer or wine. Having a steak house as one of your inhouse restaurant takes veggie eaters out of the equation. I would have believed hotels would rather have a multicuisine restaurant which can cater to a larger base. Stayed only one evening and hence did not use most of the facilities. Hope to be back sometime for a longer stay and then explore more. Did get Indian vegetarian food in the italian restaurant for dinner thanks to the restaurant manager and chef. Interestingly saw the same items on the buffet spread for lunch the next day!!!

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza for two nights in late December. This is a lovely property. Well kept, immaculately clean with great staff. The sports facilities including the pool and snooker tables are superb. The bars are also well run. We also loved the swimming pool. Our room was huge and well appointed. It's also close to the highway to the UAE border which is only an hour away. Overall - just loved it. Thanks,
