We spent two nights with my family and we booked two interconnected units of two bedrooms. The rooms where clean and well equipped with all necessities. Size of room and toilets are wihin acceptable ranges. The breakfast was good but no much varieties since same menu was repeated during our two nights stay. However. I was very happy with the hospitality of the staff at the restaurant during our breakfast time. Special thanks goes to Mr Kamrul Hassan (Restaurant Manager from Bangladesh). He really served us eventhough he is the restaurant manager. I give him a big A grade for his humbleness, great guy. Place is quiet and you can enjoy a good walk outside the hotel at night. You can also enjoy a bowling facilities at the basement level. I had two games with my family at 5 Ro per half an hour. To be honest, I did not like the 1/2 hr rule since you will never finish the one single game on time. I would recommend that the game booking should be charged 5 Ro per one game instead of expiring within 1/2 hr. In both 2 games we enjoyed playing, we never finished one game bcz of time limitation. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and I recommend this place for family as well couples.

It was a very pleasant surprise for us to stop for one night (25th dec) on our way back to Muscat and see the Crowne Plaza Sohar fully decorated with a huge Christmas tree and even a ginger bread house! Our kids were delighted. The dinner was a special Christmas dinner which was very good. The room was clean and comfortable. And the staff was friendly and helpful.

We stopped for 2 nights when traveling between Ibri and Muscat. We arrived without a booking and were greeted with a friendly receptionist who arranged a room at a better rate than online. We are IHG members and received some fruit in our room following checkin. The room was spacious and clean and had a nice view. We were in an odd numbered room on Level 3. There was a small balcony. It was great to be able to open the balcony door for fresh air. The bed was comfortable and we both had a great night's sleep. The buffet breakfast was nice. We had dinner at The Steakhouse, within the hotel. The food was absolutely delicious, but it is expensive. I would recommend if you want to treat yourself. We used the pool. It was a decent size and there were plenty of sunbeds. The gym is one of the best equipped we have come across. There is a 4 lane bowling alley. This was the only area we had issue with. There was no attendant available and there is no sign telling you who to contact. The pool attendant eventually came in. You can pay for 30 mins or an hour. We decided on 30 mins. We assumed we could pay for it on our room but were told we had to pay cash. My partner had to go up to our room to get the money but in the meantime the attendant commenced the lane. This meant the 30 mins started from then. The machine automatically shuts down at 30 minutes - this occurred 21 minutes after we started playing. We had to argue with the attendant - and showed him the timer we had set on our phone (because we suspected this would happen). He gave us an additional 5 minutes only. This left a sour taste in our mouths, and is the reason it's not getting 5 stars. Overall we really enjoyed staying at the hotel.

Crown Plaza is located outside Sohar in a quiet location. the facilities includes 3 restaurants and a good and well equipped gym which is indeed above average. the pool area is good with plenty space to enjoy the sun.

The good: -Staff are helpful and friendly -Rooms are spacious and very clean -Heated pool -Quiet place good for relaxing -All rooms have a gr8 view -All rooms have balconies The BAD: -Breakfast buffet had very limited options for a 5 star hotel. This is what I would expect from a 3 stars place! -Location is very poor away from everything and a good 40km to the city. the UGLY: no road signs coming from Burimi road, it is not easy to access if you miss the service road entrance (which is VERY easy to miss)

Stayed here for 4 nights and was very pleasantly surprised. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable with a little balcony. Great bed and pillows. Modern bathroom. TV selection was not aimed at a western market. Restaurant and food was great. They offered an extensive buffet with hot and cold sections, a wok with chef, a steak restaurant + plus more in the sports bar. Good food all round. A large swimming pool with a shallow end that was too shallow - your hands touch the bottom when doing the lengths - but it was almost wide enough to do widths! Would definitely use again.

I am a regular visitor of crowne plaza and the recent days the maintenance standards of the unit is coming down, no shower gel in the bathrooms, hair heaters not working, no moisturising lotion or hand wash gel in the wash room.

For my trip this hotel was perfectly situated. It is in Sohar so is midway between Dubai and Muscat, this offered me the chance to take a leasurly drive and see a bit of the surrounding country. The Hotel itself is very nice though felt a little formal. The Staff were all very attentive and extremely helpful. The food in this hotel impressed me the most, we all went in for the buffet and were over the moon with it. Most buffets I have been to are pretty similar in the fact that they just truck the food out without much in the way of presentation, this was different, and it made a difference to our stay.

Good nice hotel with quite a few nice facilities specially the Fitness Center. Only drawback its away from city. And they need to improve on variety of food in Break fast. Road signs are not adequate to reach the property.

We stayed for a night during the Eid holidays and the place was full. The check-in was fast and the staff are accommodating. The room comes with balcony overlooking the vast desert. The bed was really comfortable, i love the pillows most especially. We ordered room service and they were fast indeed. We had drinks at the Sports Bar and the drinks were cheaper compared in Muscat. They have a nightly band too. The food is really good, wide variety of the breakfast spread and the staff are attentive. I love their recreational facilities, you have a lot to choose from; swimming pool, billiards, bowling, tennis, etc. All in all, we really had a nice stay and will come back for another visit.
