We had a solid experience at the Sofia Plaza Hotel. When we first arrived it was a little sketchy because its in the northern outskirts of town and right next to a Casino, but it turned out to be a very nice place for the four nights we stayed. The room was big and clean and we loved the Bulgarian feel. It is an easy 15-20 minute walk south to the center of Sofia, so expect to walk a lot if you're not using a cab. Every one was very friendly and spoke English. Not much to complain about.
We spent 3 nights in this hotel. Old fashioned yet comfortable. Room we got on the second floor quite large with a comfortable double bed with airconditioner. Very little toiletries provided.Towels and bed linen not changed during our 3 day stay. The breakfast good but coffee was cold, only on the last morning coffee machine worked. The lady incharge of breakfast rude and unhelpful. Two of the reception staff good smiling and willing to help but the rest didnt want to smile and answer questions .As it was a package holiday we had paid in advance and we notified the night before that we intend to check out early morning after breakfast next day to catch the plane. But when handed over the key and said good bye the person at the reception doubted our payment and wanted proof without even going through the computer in front of him. We were made to feel like thieves which spoilt our holiday.Wish they emply more pleasant and efficient staff Mrs Perera
If you ever came across this hotel by an ad or a list of accommodations in Sofia, please move forward. This hotel was simply a nightmare and it is in dreadful conditions! Nothing looks like on the pictures on websites. I really do not like to complain and moaning when l am on holiday but l should not even have put my feet in the room. The carpet is old, dirty and smelly, the dust is all over the room. Furnitures are old and never cleaned.(we found broken glasses between the wall and the desk). Nothing was working: tv remote control, side bed lamp, bulbs and we were almost in the dark at night. The bath tub is disgusting just when you look at it. The sink in the bathroom is placed lower than usual and that makes a perfect sink for Hobbits. Customer service is an unknown concept at this hotel, the favourite answer to every question l asked is "l don't know"...(questions like the closest pizzeria) and they all seemed pissed when guests come into the hotel to check in. The breakfast was poor and inappropriate....if something ran out you don't eat....you can starve! I booked flight+hotel through British Airways website and such reputable company should not allow to list hotel like this in its website.
The only positive thing about the hotel are the staff (very helpful) the rooms are terrible a strong smile of smoking ,which I have to leave the window open during the night , there where also blood stains on the wall . the breakfast was fairly good .
We arrived in Sofia late 1am and got a taxi from the airport to the hotel (about 15 lvs) very reasonable I thought On arrival it was clearly night staff and not that interested the rooms were not to the highest standard of cleanliness But ok for one night The breakfast was poor We left something in the room and popped in when back in Sofia a week later to ask if it was there and it was this was nice
I have stayed just one night for a business trip to Sofia. The reason of me to choice is its location and the rates. Building of the Hotel is old and appearently maintanence is poor. there was an empty minibar in the room. Restaurant is too small; There are only 4-5 tables they have. Door lock doesn't works from inside. They have a parking place near the building and protecting with a chain and a simple locker on it. I never recommend to stay there more than one day due to poor maintenance and security reasons.
The hotel is poorly maintained and is part of an old building. The hotel, while very close to central bus and rail stations, is not in the city centre. The rooms were strictly average and housekeeping is not offered unless asked for. The shower and bathtub were not maintained as the water kept gushing up from the drains. Not much variety - bad breakfast and at one point, the tea and coffee were not even warm. The only plus point were the staff who were always ready to help and polite. Cannot really recommend the hotel which is a shame as the staff were quite good.
We have just returned from a 3 night stay at the plaza hotel Sofia.I would not recommend to anyone to stay here as firstly it's not in the nicest part of the city. The rooms were very average and the only part of the room service was the bins were emptied. There was no where to get a tea or coffee when you returned back to the hotel although we did read you cd buy water at the reception. The breakfast was very poor.. nothing looked very appetising and even the tea was weak and tasted very strange.Whilst I will say the staff were quite helpful it really hasn't got many other good points.
Located right next to Sofia's train station, this hotel offers a great access to transport. When we arrived, the hotel lobby looks welcoming , but the problem came on the reception. We arrived at the hotel very late in the morning, around 00:30, and we showed out ID's to confirm our reservation, which was paid via online banking , (Booking.com) , but the lady on the reception told us that we had to always pay upon arrival, and she named a double price of the one that was first discussed in our booking. We spent about an hour arguing and trying to figure it out before going to our room to sleep, as we were really tired. We woke up on the next day, only to find out that the manager figured everything out , and we never got an apology for the mistake which came from their side. But overall, the rooms were properly cleaned, and the breakfast was nice. The only problem was the reception and the fact that some stuff are a bit outdated, but it did not really bother us at all.
Good breakfast nice People and price closed to Down town sofia and Main train station very clean room .front deck very friendly.we stay two night very calm night in the morning hot Coffee and chess ham
