Ramada Sofia City Center4.0 out of 5.0

One of the oldest hotels in Sofia, needs some renovation but still a good place, not expensive, close to Central station, in a safe area of the city. Good breakfast and very friently staff, grooms and receptionists.
We took a standard room. Very cheap looking, 2 separate beds no double bed available at all. We needed to change room in the middle of the night because the window would not close all the way and the room was freezing. Location is okay, casino good, breakfast was fine except it doesn’t change at all. In conclusion the stay was totally average, would not comeback again cuz I think for a little more money you can get a better stay someplace else. The only great thing for me was the spa! Great massage for a great price!
I stayed here for one night .The hotel is old and needs renovation. Service is poor . There is not even a bottle of water in the mini fridge. Breakfast is poor with no fresh juice Coffee maker was not working.
The worse hotel in my business life traveling. Looks like this hotel has made in 1880 and also look like nobody take care of it since then. Look by yourself My room 408 I'm here right now and I'm thinking to get out here running. Epic!!
Returned from Sofia yesterday (24.10.17) after a three night stay at this hotel. I do read other travellers' reviews as they do give an honest view. This hotel is ideally located with the metro and bus station across road and close to the city centre. That said a taxi to the centre was a little cheaper than the train. Now for a word of warning. When we arrived at the airport there were several chaps asking if we wanted a taxi (which we did) but chose to walk outside to look. OK taxis were lined up outside and the chap who'd asked us inside led us to an OK taxi with the driver sat at the wheel. Incidentally, this chap wore an ID on a lanyard. Before we could even think, we were loading our luggage into the boot and we were off being told that the fare to the Ramada was a fixed price of 60 Lev. Only later did we discover these guys weren't legitimate and the fare should have cost no more than 25 Lev. You live and learn! Make sure you go to the stand, which we didn't even get to see. Now the Ramada. I agree with many that this hotel is 'tired' in certain areas and could do with a little TLC in key places. Reception area is large and has a good feel with people milling around. Some of the staff were a bit abrupt but guess this is the Bulgarian way! We occupied two rooms on the fourth floor with a bruised and battered corridor and slightly worn carpet. Our rooms were fairly basic but the bedding was clean and towels fresh and soft. Television was old but to be honest we only ever use a television for BBC News when getting ready. We had a kettle but nothing else! We would have asked for tea, coffee etc. if we wanted it but the hotel was only a base for bed and breakfast as we were out and about every day. The bathroom had seen better days and the shower head barely stayed up, the shower curtain was a bit mouldy at the bottom and the water ran onto the floor. The breakfast is important to us as it sets us up for the day and it didn't disappoint. The dining room was spacious and the food plentiful, with nothing running out, which is quite unusual. Everything from cereals, fruit and yogurt to cooked foods. Also lots of cheese and salad available. My only gripe was I do like fresh juice but the machine dispensed what I can only describe as cheap squash. The staff were very attentive and were quick to remove used/ finished with items from the table. Taking all of the above into account, we were not unhappy and were comfortable, and enjoyed our stay. We had a great time in Sofia!
Such a scary experience, underwhelming When we arrived we were disappointed to see that the hotel is not the normal ramada category it's feel like a market place The food taste like fake, calamari was something else like some rubber band Chips were good Breakfast was horrendous, was held in a pop up place, so dirty, scared to eat anything coffee only was alright. Croissants was rotten, can smell fermented butter!!! The hotel have a casino in the lobby and people smokes while we sleeping on the 14 floor so what if a fire start!!!
This is a large hotel with a casino adjacent . My room was ' OK ' , although one or two in my group reported really awful rooms . Many parts of the hotel look dated and threadbare. My bathroom certainly needed renovation . The hotel had no character . Some staff were friendly and helpful but some of the lobby bar waitresses had a significant attitude problem . The breakfast buffet was substantial and generally good quality . It's about 20 mins walk to the city centre . The airport taxi ride ( suggest you use OK taxis as they use the metre and do not add unnecessary kilometres ) is around Euros 8 - 10 . There is a nice touristic restaurant 5 mins walk away : Hadjidraganov's Houses . The hotel staff recommend a different one in the city centre but I liked this - atmosphere , live folk music in the evening and great food . They also recommended a different taxi company and tried to persuade me to use their own car + driver ( much higher cost ) so you have to insist on what you want sometimes . The area the hotel is in is not not pleasant although I never personally felt unsafe .
This is our second night of four. After reading the reviews, I wasn't expecting much, however I am pleasantly surprised. We are on the 14th floor, have a very nice room with a view of the city. The hotel has some touches of real class, marble bathroom which is unfortunately let down by a lack of maintenance, such a shame. You can see that time has not been overly kind. A bit of TLC and and this hotel could be right back up there. The bed is very comfortable and plenty big enough. The breakfast is typical of hotel chains, plenty of choice, hot n cold. All pretty good. The staff I have encountered have been polite, helpful and friendly. Just used room service and what a surprise. The best chips I have ever had. Just superb. Am considering not leaving the room and ordering in every night! 😉
On entering the lobby of the hotel you feel as if you are entering a 4 star hotel. The staff at the reception were very nice and helpful. The concierge/ bell boys were also very helpful. Everything was great til you got to your floor. I was on the 3rd floor ( can't speak for any other floors). the carpet was in the corridor was old and torn in many places. opened the door to my room, and the brown carpet was as old and worn as the corridor. Having said that the room was OK, the bed linen was clean. The shower/bath was acceptable. The TV in the room was old and the reception was terrible ( but I was not there to watch TV). Breakfast was served on the mezz floor and was buffet style. A lot of reviews were negative on the breakfast, but I thought it was not bad at all. Plenty of choice and very fresh fruit and salads of all varieties. hot food was not hot but to me acceptable. The most enjoyable part of the hotel for me was the swimming pool and spa areas. The pool was large and clean, and the sauna area was exceptional, and the staff at the spa were very friendly and helpful. So all in all my 5 day stay was enjoyable and the hotel was quite central to the centre of Sofia. I would use this hotel again, but hope that they will spend a little on upkeep of a 3 star hotel. I had no problems with staff, even when i needed them to fix a minor problem with the toilet on the 3rd day they were very quick in dealing with this to my surprise reading other reviews. I give them a thumbs up.
Definitely it is not a 4 star hotel, but probably a 3 star. The lobby makes you feel like staying in a very chic hotel, but the rooms are old-fashioned style, with bamboo style furniture, worn walls and cleanliness unacceptably. The bathroom is small but clean. Breakfast was good, with a fair variety in salads, fruits, yoghurts, cereals etc. If public transport is used, the hotel’s location is very convenient. The city center is only in a 5 minutes’ walk distance. Excellent free wi-fi in every floor.
