Our plane landed in Bulgaria early on a Saturday morning. As rapidly as our flight went, we found ourselves reaching our home for the weekend - the new 4-star Novotel Sofia Hotel. Situated in The Mall business area of the city, the building stood tall and sleek evoking a fresh, contemporary impression. We were ushered to the reception where a good-mannered and courteous staff greeted us with a smile. It didn’t matter that we were a tad too early for check-in. Our room was available and without further ado, we went straight up determined to take a power nap before eventually setting off to see this vibrant city. We were greeted with a ray of sunlight streaming through the substantial windows upon entering our room. We were surprised to see a grand view of the mountains against the nearby buildings. There were a few clouds that loomed around, just enough to cast a mysterious atmosphere across the sky. “I never knew the landscape of Bulgaria was so green,” I told my husband. We were both pleasantly surprised with how lush nature seemed. My eyes immediately went to the marvelous bathroom decked in floor-to-ceiling glass. “It’s so in-the-moment,” my husband said. Touching a few of the light switches revealed a technology that allows guests to choose an option of having a completely see-through shower or one with an elegant tint. The bathroom is large and spacious with a bevy of lighting options. The room, decked in the most stylish hues of canary and gray, conjured stylishness and modernity. The space was immaculate and the built-in closet revealed enough room for a guest who'd wish to stay here for a week or two. As I lay down on the bed whose sheets were spotless and smooth, my husband scoured the internet speedily for a map of the city. The hotel Wi-Fi is swift and fast, enough for us to decide on our itinerary for the day. After a brief rest, we requested for a cab and went down where we waited in their well-dressed lobby. “The taxi ride should be quick and should cost no more than 8 euros,” Novotel’s approachable concierge said. Needless to say, the close proximity allowed us to gallivant to Sofia’s old town every day for the three days while we stayed at the Novotel Sofia Hotel. We woke up every morning to a pleasing meal consisting of an array of Bulgarian cold cuts, as well as the traditional English breakfast. What I love about the food in Bulgaria is that their local vegetables and cheese are so delicious, and the Novotel Sofia Hotel made sure to incorporate that with the best they can. The coffee, being quite close to Turkey, is tasty and strong just the way I like it! We ventured off to the second floor to check out their fitness center and sauna facilities. It was an ample space with loungers and gym equipment which allowed space for a splendid view of The Mall business district. The landing floor also functions as a business center that features sleek accessible computers for their guests. During our entire stay, we were welcomed with friendly smiles and the sunniest of disposition. Novotel Sofia Hotel is a new and superior hotel that suits the new energy that surrounds the capital. Unwavering in making a positive mark, the staff is determined to make your stay as comfortable and convenient as possible. As we were transported back to the airport by the hotel shuttle at the end of our quick 3-day weekend break, we realized that Sofia, Bulgaria is slowly rising up the charts as being one of the loveliest cities in Europe. If you fancy a visit, try the new Novotel Sofia Hotel. Classy and up-to-date, it’s just a swift cab ride down to Sofia’s historic center. Assisting you in every possible way, they complement the jovial attitude of the locals. I truly appreciated the excellent customer service that Iliyana and Stephanie exemplified during the reservation and booking process. Providing a tranquil, safe haven, this hotel has a pleasing vibe. It can be a true home away from home in bustling Sofia, Bulgaria.
I am a frequent visitor to this hotel, and the service and food is outstanding. They provide friendly airport pickup and drop off The food at their Novo Square Restaurant is outstanding and the service excellent, and offers good wines that reasonably priced. Offer breakfast, lunch and dinner
The staff was excellent, accommodating every need, we were upgraded because we are members of Le Club, the Accor Hotel loyalty program, and the Executive Suite was amazing. The size of a large studio apartment, it was furnished with everything but the kitchen sink; a dining table, 2 sofas, king size bed, and desk. The WiFi was excellent and the buffet breakfast was perhaps the best we have ever been offered for around $12.75 per person. I can't be more complimentary.
I've been there for first time and I can safely say that it is very very good hotel!!! Firstly it is very close to the airport with transportation to and from the airport! Secondly, it is close to a mall and very close to the Sofia. Thirdly, the room is cozy and and clean with view to a big boulevard. The personnel is very kind and is willing to help you with everything!! The breakfast is amazingly good and healthy. It is one of the best hotel I have been!! I recommend it 5/5!!
I booked this hotel as the price was good and the Trip Advisor rating was high. The hotel is quite far outside the city centre - too far to walk. You will have to either get the metro which is a 15 minute walk to the Expo Centre, or you can get the bus - but watch out for the drivers and ticket inspectors who will do their best to ignore your request to buy a ticket, and then fine you for not having a ticket! There is a petrol station nearby and also a big shopping mall next door with Starbucks etc, should you not wish to have breakfast in the hotel. The room itself was large, very modern, funky bathroom doors! There was a minibar, but nothing in it except bottled water (first night you get 2 bottles free). TV has plenty of channels and wifi was quick and free. Staff were friendly and check in/out was efficient. There is an airport shuttle available for a small fee, although we did not use this as the public transport connections were so good. Overall I think the hotel is nice, but probably better suited to business than tourists. If you come here as a tourist then be prepared for taking lots of public transport and having a fair walk to the nearest metro stop.
two nights at the novotel; great rooms and staff. we had planned eating out in the evening but the food was so good, we ate all our meals in the hotel. staff were brilliant. the good trip ended on an even better note when we'd missed the airport shuttle and peter the driver offered to take us which was really appreciated and a really nice end to what had been a great couple of days at the hotel.
As this was a 1st time visit to the city, I chose the Novotel, knowing what to expect, a decent standard of hotel, comfortable, warm, restaurant and business facilities, but was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is 10 mins from the Airport and the city centre by taxi, but provides an excellent base from which to explore. The rooms were very comfortable, the restaurant provides a good, flexible, breakfast, lunch or dinner which all sounds a bit samey, but the staff and team make for an enjoyable stay when away from home, nice one, will stay again for the next time..
Stayed here on business trip for 1 night, stayed in a standard room which was large and very comfortable with good facilities. The room was very clean and well equipped. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good with a great selection of foods. Located next to a shopping mall which was handy. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Stayed here two separate weeks in April & May of this year and found the hotel comfortable and convenient. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the room staff were excellent. I had a problem with my shower unit in room and it was fixed by maintenance straight away when requested. The breakfast was comprehensive with a great selection of hot and cold food. The bar and food area was clean and well staffed and the food I sampled was top notch. Other suitable eating places were just 100m away in the shopping mall.
We arrived with a larger group late in the evening and Martin & Kaloyan went out of their way to check us in and solve all our demands in the shortest possible time. Friendly, cooperative, proactive. Great job. I'll definitely come back here.
