The hotel is in a good position and the staff are very friendly & efficient. We ate in the restaurant one night & the food was good and plenty of choice for breakfast. The hotel really does need to be completely updated though. The rooms are very dark and go back 30+ years regards furniture and facilities. The main areas are also dark and sorely in need of some works. There was a large tear in the carpet on a stair tread which apart from anything else is dangerous. Lovely terrace but needs a good clean with lots of rubbish on the ground & ashtrays left unemptied & full of water. This could be a really good hotel with an update.
A nice hotel with historic ambiente, this hotel offers a nice atmosphere, but has definitely seen better days. Some modernization and renovation - especially of the rooms and corridors - is clearly required. With good breakfast, free parking space and a close location near Sluis, this hotel offers a good mix for acceptable prices. This especially in the main season, when prices skyrocket over here.
Very nice hotel, friendly staff, good breakfast and above all, great location at 100m from the centre of Sluis, a cosy little town. Rooms are nice, but a bit dated. no shampoo, etc in the room, only shower gel.
A 3 day holiday stay from Friday to Sunday during August. Great location to the beach - Knokke. Enjoyed a relaxing stay. The staff are friendly and helpfull. The hotel itlsef is nothing especially overwhealming. Great breakfast variety.
We selected this hotel for its perfect location close to Sluis and for easy start for biking. Enough parking at hotel and reception was friendly. Rooms are very dark mainly due to lack of light in the room. Also the rest of the hotel inside is quite dark and outdated, especially the breakfast room needs a lift into to brightness. Hotel has a nice terrasse with a good service.
The hotel was easy to find and has plentiful and good car parking. It is in a good position being a short stroll from the centre of town. We found the decoration in the hotel public areas and bedrooms to be quite dark and oppressive, very eighties/nineties. That said the room was of a good size with a nice balcony overlooking the country views to the rear. The bathroom was a good size with a separate bath and shower, however once again the lighting was very poor to the extent that I could not see to put on my make up. The Wi-Fi signal in our bedroom was non-existent. The staff were all very good and the breakfast was very good. We would stay again at the right price.
I went here again because I wanted to use up my Fletcher vouchers and make a bike trip to the nature reserve 't Zwin which is close by. This second visit confirmed my first experience. This place is a bit worn out and should not have a 4-star label. The rooms are very basic and dated, so it is a mystery to me why you would have to pay extra because it is a 4-star hotel. It isn't, and requires renovation. The reception works very slow and the process is bureaucratic. Even though I booked using the Fletcher voucher code and got a confirmation with the voucher code and a confirmation number on it, they insisted they needed the printed voucher itself, otherwise they would charge me a €50 deposit until I mailed them the voucher, of which €12.50 would be non-refundable. So I had to sit down, connect to their wi-fi (which has very weak signal, and no signal at all in many of the more remotely located rooms) to try and retrieve last year's Fletcher email with all my original vouchers, so I could forward that e-mail to the hotel reception. What a palaver. They certainly don't make it easy for their customers. One of the few positives is that it is located walking distance from Sluis centre, and at least parking is free. But I will not go here again. Decided to not even use the breakfast.
Best Hotel to stay in Sluis. Easy walking distance to a shops and cafe's. Rooms are a bit dated but clean and quite big. Also a great location for visiting the fabulous Zeeland coastline. Breakfast is buffet with a very wide choice to suit everyone. Bonus is the fresh coffee machine!!
We have stayed here three times to visit family in Zeeland. Pretty town, lovely walks and good shopping. Go for flowers at the shop on the quay to take home. Lots of good restaurants in town but make sure you know the time they close. Try lovely freshly made waffles at one of the many places but we love Petrus and Paulus in the main shopping street. Listen out for the carillon on the Belfort every quarter and recognise the tunes played. Hotel restaurant is excellent and the hotel parking makes everything very convenient. The furnishings are a bit old fashioned and it would be good to have WiFi throughout the hotel and tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms. But we will be back.
Located not far from the center of Sluis (NL) close to the belgian border, this hotel is really old fashioned...and it would be not a lux to see some refurbishment. Decoration coming directly from "the old age" but acceptable for 1 night. Wifi for free (but impossible to get a connection), parking is a plus! Room on the backside with flat screen tv (size of an Ipad) and some difficulties to close the door..... Booked for 100 eur/night (superior room!!) Within walking distance of the center, you will enjoy this small city of Sluis (shopping 7/7) Staff not warm and for those who don't speak flemish.....good luck!!
