Traveling through Portoroz with just a one night at Kempinski Palace left us with a longing to return. We experienced luxury at every level. Our rooms were in the older part of the building and traditionally furnished. It was clean and comfortable. The breakfast in the Crystal Room was abundant, beautifully presented, well staffed and tasted fresh. Afterwards, we shopped at the Christmas Market in the courtyard that had quality goods. We shall return and try the pool next time!
This hotel is typical Kempinski--which is to say well-cared for, but feels too much like a business...either staff is a bit overly obsequious but never strays far out of their way to make things truly special...
We stayed in the Kempinski for a weekend trip to Porto Roz in November 2017. The building itself is very impressive (former Grand Hotel) and the location is excellent (opposite to the seaside). The rooms are appropriate for a luxury hotel and clean. The staff is friendly and professional but not very engaged (neither restaurant recommendation nor other tips for Porto Roz). Breakfast was really good and included a nice mix of continental, local and even British options. However, the coffee was really awful (filter coffee), and the espresso we ordered as an alternative tasted burnt. Nice and fresh cocktails at the bar. Awkwardly, the cocktails served in the Spa area were really disappointing. Overall, nearly excellent. However, I deduct one point in the service category due to the coffee and miserable coctails at the pool.
We stayed two nights in kempinski and we were very satisfied. Rooms, breakfast, lounch bar and everything was superb. The only reason for note very good is spa / wellness which is not at five star level.
For quests with really high excpectations..everybody is very kind and helpfull. Breakfast..uauu..one of the best I have tried. everybody can find something to eat..bio..home made..even champange 😊 Hotel is clean, furnished with style..I strongly reccommend it.
I love the Kempinski brand! And the Palace Portoroz deleivers -- wonderful service, food, rooms, design and pool all in a stunning historical building. I enjoyed myself thoroughly, so much so that I extended my stay for a couple of weeks.
Very nice and popular hotel. Both old and new modern building are perfect. Breakfast is very good and breakfast room perfect. Spa not very big but very good organized. Only minus is always bad coffee.
We went for a short stay to keep our Black GHA membership level and did not regret. Hotel is mix of modern and old fashion and some really good service. Breakfast was the high point of our stay and Chef is really amazing. Best omlet and pancakes we ever had across any hotels, not just Kempinski. Hotel has really good location for walking along entire Slovenian coast and I would suggest going all the way to Piran by foot. We had a room with a sea view and the terrace view from it was perfect. I have to say big thank you to mrs. Maja Srdic and Sanela who gave us this room and made all the arrangements for us on such a short note. If we would ever be short on nights to remain Black GHA status we would for sure come back and enjoy the stay and breakfast.
The hotel enlarged its capacity 7 yaers ago, therfore is the reception state of the art and divide the hotelinto 2 blocks. The rooms in the old block are very nice furnished, but conventional, the new block has the wellness zone with sauna ,swimming pool and a workout room and above new modern furnished rooms. The breakfast is splendid ,it starts with champagne, omletts ,cheese from slovenja and is very complete. The food in the restaurant is excellent, the desserts are fine and the coffee italian style . So the conclusion: it is a very fine destination !!
