Nothing special about this hotel. I suggest it to people who are travelling for business mainly. For sure it does not offer a panormaic view but it's in a good location to drive in and out of Katowice. Rooms are very standard ( a kind of old ) but large enough, clean and funcional. Breakfast was not bad. Average customer service.
I came here 2 days ago, in fact, I’m still at the hotel. By god it’s an awful place. It’s my 3rd trip to Poland and first time to Katowice. For a 4 star hotel, the rooms are outdated and depressing. I paid extra for a better room and even that is awful. I asked if I could move to a room with a bath and was told no room in the hotel is a bath- for a hotel with over 200 rooms- why no baths? I would’ve happily paid more. The furniture is cheap and tatty and broken. I visited the restaurant which is supposedly very good. Ordered beef tartare and ribeye steak. Beef tartare was clearly just an uncooked burger with an egg yolk on top. Outrageous for the price as not too far away, for the same price, you can get an incredible steak tartare. The ribeye wasn’t even ribeye, it was frying steak and was like rubber. I sent it back twice with no joy. I am by no means fussy but I expect I certain standard. I would be mean to call this a 2 star hotel once you leave the lobby.
Very nice hotel with friendly staff and nice breakfast, and very clean The hotel is very central , and the room is big and the hotel is very clean, we have a nice time we stay in the weekend and I really recommend
I visit Katowice quite often and this was my fourth visit in Novotel. I asked for a room on the higher floor, I got a room on the first floor... I don't like to make fuss, but since it was my birthday I was rather disappointed. The room was clean and cozy. What was weird was the fact that after the cleaner cleaned our room, an unpleasant smell was coming out of the bathroom. We did enjoy the pool and sauna a lot! To conclude it was a good stay, but not perfect due to small things that I mentioned.
decent hotel not to far from the city center. Very close to spodek. Nice rooms but not brandnew. Breakfast was not spectacular but good enough. Bar and restaurant are quit expensive (in comparison with the city).
Hotel is located close to the city centre. The staff was very friendly and helpful! Although the room was spacious, the decoration is pretty old and needs renovation asap... Mattress was also awful and the carpet was not so clean... Breakfast was great with a wide variety of products to choose. I'm pretty sure that if the hotel is renovated, it will be an ideal choice!
Personnel friendly and very professional Food service very good. The beds are very uncomfortable, and are in immediate need of replacement. The carpeting in hallway on Floor No. 2 (Room 204) was deplorable and in urgent need of cleaning; however, more likely replacement.
It seems that hotel is located not in the very center of Katowice, but this is a false impression. First of all it is close to SPODEK Arena, Congress Center and Symphonical Assembly Seat and just few minutes walk alongside small river from modern main square. The hotel facade looks exactly the same as the one I was a kid. It was always though the most luxurious hotel in Katowice until '90. It is refurbished by current hotel chain - Accor and you will like the interiors very much, reception and bar same good as rooms. The best view is from top floors towards West as you can see density of buildings of Katowice city. Didn't have opportunity to see the East view but surely must be same good. The receptionists are very welcoming as well as other staff. Once met on the room floor you will be always greeted with nice hello.
Good location, approximately 30 min from the Katowice airport by taxi, walking distance to the main square , restaurants, good breakfast buffet. rooms are clean and relatively big. good bed. recommended for a short, business stay.
On the night I stayed here Katowice was hosting the 90's music festival and I understand that the hotel had a fairly high occupancy rate at that time. Perhaps this impacted my experience a little, but I must say I expected a slightly better standard from the Novotel name. In saying this, I got a really good deal on a Standard Twin Room with breakfast included on account of the Accor Super Sale. I paid the equivalent of A$46.25 which I found to be quite reasonable. When arriving, I had the impression that the hotel is a bit far from the centre of Katowice, but in reality it's only a 1.5km walk, so not bad at all. Parking cost me around 30zł per day which included the possibility of multiple entries/exits for a 24 hour period. I found this to be excessive - as a guest of a hotel I expect that parking should be free, and there was plenty of parking to be had at this hotel. By all means access should be restricted only to guests, but I don't believe I should have to pay. Luckily I didn't have time to use the spa because it was broken. The pool attendant told me they were waiting for parts. My room was nice - standard Accor Hotels fare and nothing spectacular, but it did the trick and was clean. The rooms seem to have various inspirational quotes on the walls as a decoration. It would perhaps be nicer if these were from notable Poles. I didn't feel comfortable having an arabic/middle eastern sounding name written on the wall of my room, that being the name of the person being quoted. The let-down at the Novotel Katowice was the service during breakfast time, and I refer back to my opening paragraph - it was busy! So busy that things kept running out and it was hard to get a hold of staff or get a table to sit. At one point I couldn't even get cutlery because it had run out and not been replaced! The staff were working hard, and I can sympathise with them, but knowing that it was going to be a busy weekend should have meant that the hotel was prepared for this with extra staff rostered on. The breakfast selection was good and tasty, I think they even had a very small selection of "asian style" dishes, goodness knows why, but they were there. Overall my stay was a bit of a mixed bag - at times a little disappointing, but for the most part good value and a pleasant stay. Front desk staff were polite, I got pretty much everything I expected (putting aside the extra parking charge), the hotel was clean and well located, and my experience was pretty smooth overall. They just need to make sure they're better prepared on busy days.
