Despite being well located on the ranch, this house was not as described. AC did not work and had to be rebooted daily. This was after three days of sweltering 90 degree suffering. No screens on windows so we could not open windows without bugs everywhere. Apparently the owners removed them all? Maintenance mgr was very nice and tried to help. I asked to talked to customer service manager and she texted that she would call me. She never did.House was very poorly supplied. There is a drawer labeled plastic wrap which one would assume would have foil, plastic wrap or something to cover leftovers. It was literally an empty drawer. There was not one container to use to cover food in the fridge. There was salt. No pepper. Little things but they matter. We stopped having dinner at the house at this point.The deck is lovely but other than two plastic chairs there is nowhere to sit. The dining table has outdoor chairs that are disintegrating so anyone that weighs more than 150 may fall through. My husband almost did but jumped in time to avoid injury.This made me sad as it was not a cheap trip. I was given a refund of one night which I did appreciate but I spent two days of my vacation texting the property managers to help me with the AC. I literally sent 13 texts with pictures of the temperature inside of the house being over 80 degrees. They were never rude but they were not able to get people here to help for days. This house just needs better upkeep.

Good

We had so much fun spending some much needed family time with our kiddos. I will however say that if you plan to stay here, make sure you plan ahead on what to bring. We like to leave the place how we arrived if not better. The vacuum was not the best it did not like to pick up stuff off the floor. TV had cable but unable to hook up to Netflix do to not a smart TV. So, bring movies if that is something you want to watch. The hot tub was very clean, the kids loved it, we spent most of our time in the Family room. Checking in was a bit stressful as you have to go to the welcome center first to get a code to get through the gate. We got lost a lot even on our way there due to GPS took us the wrong way lots of times. Overall, the house was great, just plan ahead.

Family Friendly House at Black Butte

Great place for a family with kids. Enough space to spread out and very close to the indoor pool. We swam every day. Great family memories.

Good family spot!

Really nice space with lots of areas for people to congregate indoors and outdoors. Good for families with kids. Lovely hot tub looking out onto the forest and super close to the indoor and outdoor pools and tennis/pickleball courts. the deck is awesome tho we've only bee in the winter time.

Our new go-to BBR house

This house was exactly as the listing showed and perfect for our family vacation. The layout was perfect as parents with 3 little guys, as there were tons of kids books, some toys and a great room for them to play. THE WINDOWS - they were gorgeous and everywhere, allowing us to constantly enjoy nature. It’s only a couple blocks from Glaze Meadow rec center, so we were able to walk to the playground and pools easily. The hosts were wonderful communicators and when we needed more dishwasher detergent, it was promptly dropped off. Amazing! Can’t wait to stay here again.

Quite retreat

The home is beautifully decorated and has windows galore in which to view the wildlife that happens to stroll by. The nights stars are amazing at night, so bright and visible, that can be viewed off the deck. It’s a nice place for any size family - 2 separate living rooms, plenty of beds, hot tub and they have a couple bikes in the garage.

Black Butte VRBO Jacob's Ladder

We had a great stay. The hot tub was wonderful, and it was maintained mid-week. Overall great family getaway. Only one issue... The BBQ was not usable. It was filthy and full of mold.

Great Location! Very Spacious!

We enjoyed this property very much for a weekend get-away. It was very spacious and nice for 3 generations of family members. It was well supplied with plenty of towels and linens, as well as kitchen supplies. Toys and books for kids were an added bonus. The hot tub was a special treat. Unfortunately there was a lot of smoke in the area this weekend, which prevented us from some outdoor activities. However, we would chose to stay in this house again. Thank. You!

Very Black Butte

Deep in the lovely maze that is Black Butte Ranch. Deer grazing right off the deck! Lots of room, well stocked kitchen and we enjoyed the hot tub. Unlike most rentals it was nicer then I expected. Enjoy!

Comfortable, roomy family fun

Jacob’s Ladder was perfect for our winter retreat with preteen snowboarders. Great location close to pool, 20 mins from Hoodoo. Family and living rooms allowed for separation and sanity! The hot tub was clean and in good working order, if set a bit cool for our tastes. Big kitchen with newer appliances permitted multiple people to work together, and a big table to sit all of us. The basketball hoop was a really nice surprise! The only not so nice surprise was the added daily fee for staying at Black Butte Ranch, which was not unsubstantial and which we must have missed in the description, BUT the graciousness and responsiveness of the hosts - along with the pool - made up for it. We will definitely come back!

Great layout and separation of spaces

Overall we liked the property. The only negative is that the floors were not adequately cleaned and the carpet was quite dirty. The property managers should have at least spot cleaned the major spills and stains on the carpet and steam cleaned the tile floors. (I would like to take a Bissell Crosswave up there and clean the tile for them!) The layout was great with two separate living spaces, the deck, the dining and living contiguous to the kitchen. We had plenty of room for a family dinner of 12 adults and 6 children. Proximity to pool, play ground, tennis, etc and the bike path was perfect. The space behind is open to BLM ground, so we saw deer, turkeys, coyotes, rabbits and birds daily. We would rent this house again it the cleanliness is addressed.

Great location and spacious place for a family

The house location was great and the house provided more than enough space for our family (2 adults and 3 kids). Kitchen was well stocked. We enjoyed the use of the hot tub and back deck. One thing we wished the house had was some black out shades or darkening curtains for sleeping- the rooms were very bright early in the am. But overall, we really enjoyed our time at this rental and we look forward to our next stay black butte!

Weekend in the snow

We had a great weekend playing in the snow and relaxing in the hot tub. Pictures represent the house well. We hope to come back. Note to people who have never been to black butte, you must stop at the welcome center to pay resort fees and get the gate code.

Nice location

Nice location backs onto forested area. Close to tennis courts and swimming pool, though they weren't open now. Large family room enables children and adults to have their separate spaces.

Over the river and through the woods to Grandma and Grandpa

Making the best of Thanksgiving without family, my husband and I had a relaxing holiday getaway. So nice to have a change of scenery. Although the house is big for two people, it was just great to be able to spread out and set up one work station in the cozy family room with it's gas fireplace and another in the dining area overlooking the log fireplace. And the hot tub was a main reason for choosing this home. We made this the highlight of our evenings under the stars. The only tiny suggestion would be for a new tv in the master bedroom. We hope to return with friends or family soon.

An ideal intro to Black Butte

We thoroughly enjoyed our first stay at Black Butte and this property. Clean and comfortable for two families with teenagers, and excellent communication with the hosts. We loved lounging on the deck and watching the deer graze. Happy to have some A/C after biking around the area too, as it was pretty warm. Wonderful property, we would happily stay again!
