All locational advantages with most of the places (some walking and some little commuting) close by. Rooms are fine but bathroom is just ok. Best part is a free mobile to make all local and international calls (few exceptions) free. The customised mobile can be taken out and of course returned at the end of stay. Staff is OK, but touch of hospitality in communication needs improvement. Buffet breakfast (included) is good. Most of the restaurants in Singapore close by 10-30 - 11 P.M. even in star hotels. Public transport is good.
This hotel is very nice, clean modern rooms, super convenient location, excellent staff, amazing restaurant and incredibly uncomfortable beds. Like Mexican resort hard mattresses! We won't be back, but if you enjoy a very, very firm mattress, this is your place!
Stayed for 2 nights 1-3 September. Landed in Singapore at 6 am after 18 hours journey from Europe, totally exhausted. Arrived at the hotel at 8 am and kindly asked a man in reception for an early check in. Was told that he is going to do his best as the room is not ready yet (SIA Stop Over deal....) After that I had spent 4 hours sitting in very old and uncomfortable lobby launch waiting patiently. When I was about to ask for medical help due to a huge migraine headache and had approached reception staff again, I was told that my room had been ready for 2 hours now!! Nobody cared to let me know, even I was sitting in front of their eyes with all my luggage piling up next to me.... Very disappointing and upsetting experience on my part and luck of understanding and compassion on staff side at least that day... Other way room was clean and spacious, bathroom very outdated. Some buffet breakfast every day, limited choices, disappointing. Good, central location. Close to metro station, shops and many tourist attractions. In my personal opinion it is an overpriced, 3 star hotel.
We stayed for 2 nights and was very disappointed with the room. There was numerous stains on the carpet. The bed was disgusting and the pillows were all different and very shabby. The hotel is in a pretty good location and the breakfast was quite good, but it put a real downer on our holiday staying in disgusting rooms. Would not recommend.
This was my second time staying in this very basic 4 star hotel. The hotel is old and in need of some serious TLC. The rooms are basic, the beds have seen better days and the overall feel of the very busy hotel is one of "yesterdays hero's". The location was very good though and I could reach many areas that I wanted to visit such as the Bugis Junction and Raffles bar. The breakfast and lunch/dinner sport some interesting local foods and it was rather pleasant. In the mornings though it was difficult to find a table and the egg-chef was under tremendous pressure to keep up with the demand. In my mind this must be in the very lowest tier of 4 stars and if I compare it with my 4 nights in the Ritz in KL on the same trip it is simply inconceivable that they are rated on the same tier. The staff are friendly and the new 'buddy system" that comes with the room is interesting and helpful once you get the workings of it.
This hotel has been been around for a long time. I think it use to be called The Olsen. Used it in conjunction with SIA $ 1 stop over but paid a premium to to a better class hotel on their listing. Close to Bugiis shop and restaurant and City Hall station. Room was clean and bed and linen also good , but the bathroom could do with some attention, not dirty but well passed its use by date, tiles and grouting /fittings etc .Ok for one night.
The Grand Pacific is ideally located close to Bugis shopping centre and Sim Lim computer, electronic and camera centre. It is also only a short walk to the Raffles centre and hotel. The hotel room was comfortable and quiet being on the sixth floor. The hotel had a special for buffet breakfast. When we visited the Jurong Bird Park via train to Boon Lay then bus 194, we were surprised by a couple who did 'a spontaneous good deed' by getting us into the park for free on the workman's Bird Park card that had entry for 4. Travel in Singapore is cheap and easy on trains you purchase a tap on off card that you can top up at stations.
We are currently staying at the Grand Pacific hotel on a two night Singapore stop over en route home to the Uk, if our room is anything to go by this hotel is far from grand! It is shabby and poorly maintained, the bathroom is tiny with poorly applied mastic everywhere. On arrival we where given the key to somebody else's room, luckily they where out, fortunately for them we are not thieves! Will not be staying here again.
We booked this hotel online by accident because the name was very alike to the one we aimed. We called Expedia immediately and asked to cancel and helped on my mistake. We also called the hotel and the hotel informed us that we had to get it done with Expedia. Later on Expedia informed us that the reservation manager named Steve did not allow to refund us though we asked to cancel the booking within 5 minutes. Kindness is the thing that moves the world forward and we will just remember how Singapore hotel treated us. I know it was our fault but with immediate action on asking for help, they chose to ignore us. Thanks so much for your kind hospitality. With this such attitude, we believe the hotel makes a lot of profit from taking advantages from the guests. So please stay away from this hotel. We suggest Peninsular Excelsior which is in the opposite of this hotel Grand Pacific instead. The staff at Peninsular are a lot more helpful and care for your problem a lot more.
We made a reservation of this hotel online by mistake and requested a cancellation of the booking within minutes after making the reservation. The hotel refused to cancel the reservation and charged the full price. I will never book there again and recommend anyone to stay away.
