I was denied the check in with my passport, and the Chinese guy "Jordan Tan" at the recepetion was telling in chinese to his collegue since I am Indian he wanted to give me a tough time. (WHAT A PATHETIC HUMAN!!) Since my friend could understand Chinese, I got to know his real attitude! I had to cancel my booking and LOOSE all the money I already paid online for 3 days. and I had to walk in to a near by hotel where they were happy to privde me a room just with my passport. Such a horrible experience and I will never reccomand
First let me start with why I chose it. I was moving around in Singapore with a friend but to stay at night I had to book some bed since he was having limited space with his family. After doing a lot of research I found it reasonable priced and I booked it using Flyscoot promotions from their website. From arrival to departure, experience was horrible. 1. Room with uncontrollable air conditioning. I even complained hotel staff that there is no control on air conditioning. They simply gave me one extra blanket! It was freezing and even it could not be turned off. In the morning I had terrible sore throats because of this. It's been a week and I am still taking antibiotics to cure my throat. Not to mention cold I got. 2. Bathroom was very dirty, doesn't feel like t is well maintained. There is one lotion for both hair and body. Luckily I had my stuff with me. 3. Unpleasant staff - staff is so cold like their air conditioning. Not being able to make a conversation and so robotic. If you ask for some advise on how to go somewhere, they are not helpful at all! 4. Far from public transport - I am not sure since I used public transport only twice I had to walk for like 8 min. So I abandoned public transport idea and preferred cab. 5. No nice restaurant nearby - the restaurants nearby are not nice, they are more for those specific labor class living in neighborhood there. 6. Neighborhood - if you are visiting Singapore this is not a place to be! You will realize after walking down in search of some grocery or any food point. Neighborhood is very smelly, it literally stinks because of garbage bins on the road. It's not neat at all. It is more for those expat workers who have extremely low wages and living their to make their ends meet. One wonders if such neighborhoods also exist in Singapore. If you are looking to visit Singapore I suggest pay some extra amount and live at some other place where you can actually feel singapore.
I had had no idea about this hotel until one of my friends warned me not to stay in any Hotel 81, that makes me curious. I booked one room and stayed one night only. At that price, it wasn't so bad. Room was okay, if you stay at the room number 805, there's a balcony with a good view like the picture that I attached here. The bathroom was tiny without tower, and I had to ask the staff to bring it over. If you prefer a quite place, this wouldn't be a good choice, because in your room, you can hear people speaking from their room very clearly.
If that doesn't bother you, then the drug dealers which loiter around the road near the hotel will. I felt really unsafe walking back to the hotel at night. The hotel itself was really tired and worn, and dirty. The rooms need a really good clean & a lick of modern paint. The rooms are also really small, which can't be helped but could be worked with. The rooms bathroom was extremely dirty, I felt dirty having a shower. The bed is as comfortable as the ground. We only stayed 3 nights & that was enough in this hotel. I didn't feel they had any fire prevention or safety measures in place either.
The staffs weren't friendly. The room is very small but it is very clean. Its also quite far from the mrt but very accessible. There are also lots of good restaurants around the hotel. This hotel is far from the city and quite near to the airport. It's also near to Old Airport Food Centre.
Moved from NuVe Hotel @Bugis to this hotel for its advantageous location near National Stadium, where my wife and I planned to see Coldplay concert. Hotel with name 81 are many in Spore. Pls spend time searching for various reviews of different users. Princess 81 is just one among few. The first room they offered me was frowzy, stuffy of cigarettes smell. Asked the hotel staff to get into the room to smell it, but he refused and said he did not smell anything while he was standing outside the room. Of course ! It was ridiculous. Eventually, after little argument, they put me on the upper floor and found a better room. Spent 2 nights there and felt pretty discomfort. The room was warm due to poorly functioning AC and staff inside the room worn out. The hot water in the bathroom was not working well. One time, we found a customer made a rough talk with the receiption which just was an annoying one. Next visit, we will decide not to pick 81's hotel anymore anywhere else. Hope the management looking best way to improve the overall hotel condition.
Good location close to restaurants, local shops, bars etc and walking distance to Railway station about 12 minutes walk. Staff are very helpful and speak fluent English. Room is comfortable but the bathroom needs an upgrade.
This is a small hotel located at the red-light district of Geylang. It's located in very close proximity to another Hotel 81 so if you take a cab, be prepared to have the driver confused as where to drop you off. The front desk staff at the hotel is friendly enough. The lift is very small, a tight fit for 4 people. Luckily, there doesn't seem tobe a lot of people staying there when we were there so we mostly had no issues with waiting for the elevator. The room is small, as expected from a hotel of this kind. It's clean though and the a/c is always cold. The bathroom is tiny. The one thing that we couldn't forget about our stay was how every time we looked out the window (our room overlooks a football field), there was a "street worker" hanging by the corner. A different woman was there at night, in the wee hours of the morning and even near lunch time once. It was weird. Over-all, this is still a nice, quiet hotel to stay in for the budget-conscious.
The hotel price is affordable yet the quality was good. Though it's located in red-district-area, the situation around is still condusive and comfortable. This hotel become my favorite one in Singapore because it's near to the bus stop which can take you to many attraction place such as kampong glam, merlion and stadium.
This hotel located in geylang 12, back of redlight area of Singapore. Quite area, good place to rest. Rooms are old and basic, small toilet and tv. Walking distance to mrt and have bus stop around it. Easy to check in.
