Hotel 81 - Heritage

I stayed in the hotel for a night after watching a late concert in Indoor Stadium. It is the most value for money hotel 1 stop from Stadium MRT (Nicole Highway MRT). My review of the pros and cons are: Pros 1.The location and price is excellent. It is 6 to 8 mins walk from Nicole Highway MRT. It is one stop from Stadium MRT, where indoor stadium is located. Price is also affordable at slightly above $100. It is the best hotel for tourists looking for a value for money basic hotel after watching a event at Indoor or National Stadium. It is also near Golden Mile Complex where they are many bus operators to Malaysia. Good hotel too for short stay before travelling to Malaysia. 2. The service is good. The manager on duty was friendly and this really made the stay pleasant. 3. It is easy to find affordable and good food in the area. There is a Golden Mile Market 5 mins walk from the hotel that sells good food like claypot and famous prawn noodles for less around $5 for a big plate. A train stop away will get you to Promenade MRT with good restaurants in Suntec City. 3. The room is clean and spartan. It is a bit small but reasonable for this price. I chose the cheapest room with no windows. It felt a bit clusterphobic. Paying a couple more dollars will land you one with windows which is advisable if you have small kids. The TV is really small but has nice cable sports and news channels. The soap and shampoo smells like detergent. Toothpaste also a bit unknown brand. So its best to bring your own toiletries. 4. There is WiFi but not very fast. Cons: 1. The area around the hotel felt sleazy. I returned around 11.30pm and found the area dark with yellow lights, with few cars on the road. When I walked past the shop houses and another hotel heading to this hotel, you can see people who are dressed with loose clothings for ladies and guys who don't look friendly. I am not sure if this is just a opinion or the truth. But the dark alleys in between hotels and the dim corridor lights of shophouses certainly did not help. I was eager to enter the hotel. For lone female backpackers, you might not want to stay too late outside the hotel. 2. The alleys and corridors in the hotel are narrow and filled with turns. So it creates a feelings of people hiding at the bends who might spring out against you anytime. The lack of windows made it worse. So the heart pumps a bit faster till you reach your room. Perhaps the hotel can install mirrors before each bend, so that residents can see the other side of each bend or alley before walking there. Definitely will feel psychologically safer. 3. The toilet floor is a bit slippery. Older residents might want to walk a bit slower with caution when using it. Overall, it is worth recommending the hotel as it delivers quality and safe service at a low price. There are flaws with the area outside hotel but I felt this is something the hotel management can't do much about. Definitely the most value for money hotel for tourists coming for performances in Indoor or National Stadium.

We were looking for a budget hotel close to Orchard, and this was the best deal we had, 3 stations away if I'm not mistaken. Room was clean and neat, but it was very humid. We could smell the smell of mold(minor, was not a problem for us), and it took longer than usual for our clothes to dry. Power supply had universal point built in. Location was excellent for us. You can take either Lavender MRT or Nicoll Highway MRT. We prefer the latter as it's closer. But you could avoid steps if you go for Lavender. Oh yea, there's no window in the room and no sound proof at all. Our room was right in front of the lift, and we could hear people walking by from time to time during the night. Shouldn't be a problem if you're a deep sleeper though. Would recommend if you're looking for a budget one.

Hotel Room so small,we booked triple room....they just add extra bed to the space to open our luggage..Bed was so hard. Despite the room size, everything were good...clean,bright and modern. Bathroom were good and many electric plug which was helpful for us. Mrt can be reach with 12-15 minutes walking distance (not recommend for people who brings big luggage) Not suitable for old people since the hotel has stairs to reach to the room even-though in one floor area. Receptionist was nice and polite Bugis junction can be reach by 25-30 minutes walking I Use grab to go to the airport from the hotel around $19

Pros: Clean Good Wi-Fi Good location in nice neighbourhood Cons: -Even rooms with windows don't have any light because shutters are closed -Can't control AC -Very noisy, you have a feeling that there is no front door in your room

The hotel is a 5-10 minute walk from Lavender Station and right next to Arab Street. The staff were friendly enough, and while the room was small, it wasn't as small as others I've stayed in in Singapore. Cleanliness could be improved as I was greeted by a cockroach when I entered the room and it didn't smell fresh inside. Also, the booking said "city view", and while there was a window, there was a shutter outside that couldn't be opened. So there is no view.

Location is great, with bars and eateries around the corner. As for the Hotel, the lady receptionist was very friendly and voluntarily changed our room because she heard us commenting on the stale smoke smell that we noticed in the initial room that we checked into. Room is decent, with newish furniture, clean bed and bright lighting. This is our 2nd time staying in this Hotel.

Stayed in recently- 4 adults. Room type -triple. Located in jalan sultan.less than 15 minutes walk to bugis junction and mrt. Others such kg glam, hj lane, arab street all with in walking distance. Alot of halal cafe . Sultan mosque near by. Hotel is in one of the old building. Next to clover and the sultan hotel. Nice relax area. Suitable for old age people. Hotel 81 heritage is very basic and clean hotel. Its 2 star hotels (but the price for one night like 5 stars hotel in other country like kl/bangkok) Lobby area- not so call lobby area..its more like a cashier counter. Very basic with just simple stool for few people to sit. However they dont need one i guess because the check in is so prompt and easy. Lift available. Room- triple room consist of one single bed and one double bed..comfort for 3 adults. Room and toilet is clean. Room is spacious and surrounded by windows but its all locked. Our room is facing the main road- so its very noisy with cars passing by until late night. I was unable to sleep on the first night. Dont expect your room to be sound proof. Sleepless night on the first night the next night i am adjusting to it. They clean your room daily and the towel change daily too even not requested. No safety box inside the room. If you need taxi to go to orchard road it cost you around $15. Overall its a good place to stay if you just need a place to sleep.

Handy to most things & good to have public transport available within a few metres. Hotel room was small, with combined shower, toilet & handbasin contained in approx 1.2 x 1.2m. Basic accommodation but we only needed a bed so that was ok. Air con wouldn't turn off, however could be adjusted up a couple of degrees to make sleep more comfortable. The mattress was extremely firm & we found it to be covered (as in upholstered) in vinyl. We were told another room would be available if we wanted to swap however were told the next morning there wasn't another room. Staff were friendly & helpful.

Thishotel is located near Arab Street and Sultan Mosque. We chosed this hotel after searching at Tripadvisor. The location is great the room was not too small, clead and well equipped. This hotel did not serve breakfast but you can find it easily near by. The staff was not bad but very hard to give the smiles.

The hotel was appalling! Upon arriving we opened the main door to the hotel, all our luggage in tow, only to find we couldn't open the door fully as a member of staff was stood on step ladders messing about with flowers - it was 4pm so this just seemed strange! The entire reception area was covered in flowers which were just chucked on the floor. It made it extremely difficult to actually get in the hotel with our luggage and the staff did not even move to help (they continued to sort out the flowers instead!) Check in was ok and when we were given our key the male receptionist just pointed towards the lift and said second floor. We did think at this point thank god there is a lift!!!!! What we didn't realise was that once we got to the second floor we then had to go down a flight of stairs - half blocked off at the top by the maids trolley - to get to our room which was not much fun with all our luggage and narrow corridors The room did not, in any way, reflect the pictures provided on! It was half the size! The door couldn't even be fully opened as the bed was in the way, but the bed couldn't be moved as the room wasn't big enough. We only just managed to get the luggage in the room! The size of the room was very dangerous with no room to walk round the bed and sharp corners right by your head. To get to the bathroom during the nighttime meant crawling across the bed and opening the door whilst on the bed to get in the bathroom! It was ridiculous There were two of us staying and we got 1 bottle of water and 1 pack of coffee, I did get more after I complained There was no hot water for the shower which soaked everything and leaked into the bedroom I would avoid this hotel for your own safety
