Pros: Clean Good Wi-Fi Good location in nice neighbourhood Cons: -Even rooms with windows don't have any light because shutters are closed -Can't control AC -Very noisy, you have a feeling that there is no front door in your room
The hotel is a 5-10 minute walk from Lavender Station and right next to Arab Street. The staff were friendly enough, and while the room was small, it wasn't as small as others I've stayed in in Singapore. Cleanliness could be improved as I was greeted by a cockroach when I entered the room and it didn't smell fresh inside. Also, the booking said "city view", and while there was a window, there was a shutter outside that couldn't be opened. So there is no view.
Location is great, with bars and eateries around the corner. As for the Hotel, the lady receptionist was very friendly and voluntarily changed our room because she heard us commenting on the stale smoke smell that we noticed in the initial room that we checked into. Room is decent, with newish furniture, clean bed and bright lighting. This is our 2nd time staying in this Hotel.
Stayed in recently- 4 adults. Room type -triple. Located in jalan sultan.less than 15 minutes walk to bugis junction and mrt. Others such kg glam, hj lane, arab street all with in walking distance. Alot of halal cafe . Sultan mosque near by. Hotel is in one of the old building. Next to clover and the sultan hotel. Nice relax area. Suitable for old age people. Hotel 81 heritage is very basic and clean hotel. Its 2 star hotels (but the price for one night like 5 stars hotel in other country like kl/bangkok) Lobby area- not so call lobby area..its more like a cashier counter. Very basic with just simple stool for few people to sit. However they dont need one i guess because the check in is so prompt and easy. Lift available. Room- triple room consist of one single bed and one double bed..comfort for 3 adults. Room and toilet is clean. Room is spacious and surrounded by windows but its all locked. Our room is facing the main road- so its very noisy with cars passing by until late night. I was unable to sleep on the first night. Dont expect your room to be sound proof. Sleepless night on the first night the next night i am adjusting to it. They clean your room daily and the towel change daily too even not requested. No safety box inside the room. If you need taxi to go to orchard road it cost you around $15. Overall its a good place to stay if you just need a place to sleep.
Handy to most things & good to have public transport available within a few metres. Hotel room was small, with combined shower, toilet & handbasin contained in approx 1.2 x 1.2m. Basic accommodation but we only needed a bed so that was ok. Air con wouldn't turn off, however could be adjusted up a couple of degrees to make sleep more comfortable. The mattress was extremely firm & we found it to be covered (as in upholstered) in vinyl. We were told another room would be available if we wanted to swap however were told the next morning there wasn't another room. Staff were friendly & helpful.
Thishotel is located near Arab Street and Sultan Mosque. We chosed this hotel after searching at Tripadvisor. The location is great the room was not too small, clead and well equipped. This hotel did not serve breakfast but you can find it easily near by. The staff was not bad but very hard to give the smiles.
The hotel was appalling! Upon arriving we opened the main door to the hotel, all our luggage in tow, only to find we couldn't open the door fully as a member of staff was stood on step ladders messing about with flowers - it was 4pm so this just seemed strange! The entire reception area was covered in flowers which were just chucked on the floor. It made it extremely difficult to actually get in the hotel with our luggage and the staff did not even move to help (they continued to sort out the flowers instead!) Check in was ok and when we were given our key the male receptionist just pointed towards the lift and said second floor. We did think at this point thank god there is a lift!!!!! What we didn't realise was that once we got to the second floor we then had to go down a flight of stairs - half blocked off at the top by the maids trolley - to get to our room which was not much fun with all our luggage and narrow corridors The room did not, in any way, reflect the pictures provided on booking.com! It was half the size! The door couldn't even be fully opened as the bed was in the way, but the bed couldn't be moved as the room wasn't big enough. We only just managed to get the luggage in the room! The size of the room was very dangerous with no room to walk round the bed and sharp corners right by your head. To get to the bathroom during the nighttime meant crawling across the bed and opening the door whilst on the bed to get in the bathroom! It was ridiculous There were two of us staying and we got 1 bottle of water and 1 pack of coffee, I did get more after I complained There was no hot water for the shower which soaked everything and leaked into the bedroom I would avoid this hotel for your own safety
We stayed here over the course of a week. We had a few different rooms during the time, and all were decent- a little small, but it seems that everything in Singapore is. The beds were comfortable enough and the bathroom was fine. They provided toothbrushes and toothpaste. There is a hot pot and powdered coffee and tea in the room. The staff were friendly and helpful, and can provide maps and instructions on how to use public transport, etc. The wifi didn't work very well in some of the rooms. There is a Starbucks a block away that has excellent free wifi, so you can always walk over there if it's urgent. If you get a 3 person room, be aware that the third bed will likely be a mattress on the floor. The location is perfect, right next to lots of fun restaurants and bars in Jalan Sultan, but still quiet. There is a small grocery/convenience store next door that is open late. They sell fruit, snacks, drinks, etc., so you can grab breakfast or snacks (nice since the hotel doesn't offer breakfast). It also is within walking distance of the huge Bugis market and mall. The hotel is very near the You can easily take the MRT to this hotel from the airport- you only have to walk a few blocks. We would use the Bugis stop. For the price, this place is definitely recommended.
This hotel was chosen by attractive price and convenient location. It's 10 min walk from MRT stations Lavender or Bugis. Room is not so specious. There enough room for wide bed, low wardrobe, small table and huge wallwide mirror to compensate missing of window which is small and located very high above bathroom. Bathroom is clean but has no shower curtain and floor will stay wet for long time. The room equiped with powerful air conditioner but you cannot control it by yourself - you need to call to reception to make it cooler or warmer. In sum the hotel is worth its price and this is good choice if you need place to stay for 1-3 nights and you are not suffering claustrophobia .
I'm went to Singapore with my big famimly for 3 days in May 12-15th. And If you travelling with kids to Singapore on limited budget this hotel can be the option. Many other hostel offer you a cheaper price, but the hostel wouldnt let you bring children. This hotel location quite good as well. Its in Kampong Glam tourist hip and near mrt station and accros the street of bus stop. And easy acces also from changi airport. But please note when you book the hotel actually its stated that they have window in each room but what happend is the window is glued and cannot be open. And they dont provide breakfast as well. But special for breakfast actually you can just simply cross the street in the morning, there are some stall open for breakfast. And for dinner time it will be a lot of restaurant open for you as choices. Other note is in front of the hotel small shop/convenience store is open up 24 hrs. So its easy for u there to grab some snack bite during the nite. Final words, its a good budget hotel with easy acces around singapore
