This place is more than overpriced!! We stayed in the smallest little “room” with a loft. Definitely one of the dirtiest places I’ve ever stayed at. It looked like they hadn’t vacuumed for weeks as we saw dust balls as big as my fist. “Breakfast” was included, white bread with butter or milk with Kellogg’s. We expected more for the price we paid since the rooms were extremely frugal. They were cleaning the bathrooms at 9.30 in the morning for 30 minutes, and during that time you couldn’t use any of the toilets. A big problem. Staff was not friendly at all. Only good thing was location!! Walking distance to a lot of food courts, marina bay, gardens by the bay etc. Although I would rather stay at a place in a worse location than to experience this again. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
The location is amazing, right next to Chinatown main street, in a quiet corner, though. It is a walking distance to Raffles Place or Clarke Quay, just perfect. The hostel is clean, offers you enough facilities (room + bathroom-wise) and privacy (male-female bathrooms). The breakfast is included in the price/night and although basic it's a good way to start into the day. Last year I stayed in a brother hostel (at Clarke Quay) and was therefore a bit disappointed by this one: the room had no window and was very very small. The reception is located in another building, so going there meant first walking out of the hostel. The staff was not very motivated, once I had to wait for 20 minutes for them to appear so I could pick up something from my luggage. Also, if you are looking for a solo traveler-exchange experience, you won't find it here, the guests were rather locals, no backpackers and there is no social area to hang out at anyways.
I stay here for 3 days, short trip only. Everyday they give small breakfast. Easy to go & bring. Room was nice, bathroom was ok. Internet need to improve, sometimes lost signal, sometimes can. If more budget you can try.
I stayed at 5footway.inn Chinatown 1 (on Pagoda Street) back in spring 2015 and think it was all right - not very good but all right. This time, Chinatown 1 was all full so I stayed at the Chinatown 2 location on South Bridge Road. It turned out that it is much worse here. This whole place is very cramped. The bathroom is very small, with tiny washing basins. There is no way not to splash the water out and wet your clothes when washing your face. It is also not very clean. One morning, I even saw a dead cockroach on the carpet in the hallway. The overcrowded problem extend to dining area. The breakfast is included and quite basic. However, the dining area on ground floor is so small that some guests have to sit on the sidewalk outside. I desired my privacy and stayed in a twin room with bunker bed. While the room is small (which is expected), I was surprised that there is nothing else, like a basic table/desk, bed stand, or even a chair, inside the room. I had sitting in my bed to do all the work. This small room cost more than S$80 per night. The only good thing about this place is its convenient location (right in Chinatown and near Singapore's "nightlife row"). The Wi Fi is also relatively fast, but I guess that Wi Fi is generally good everywhere in Singapore. Overall, this place is overcrowded and overpriced. There should be many other budget places to stay in Singapore (even in Chinatown neighborhood), so I do not recommend it.
Location in nearby the MRT exit A, just walk for 5 minutes straight and you can see the hostel across the street. Staff hostel is very friendly, when we asked for place to buy sim card, they offer us for free sim card with 500 Mb data and S$ 5 for phone and SMS and they also do the registration, it was enough for 3 days just for use google maps. Wi-fi in the hostel also very fast.
I stayed in this hotel in groups of about 20-30 people and they provide a clean room and shared bathroom. Free access to the dining area with bread-loft, hot water, microwave, and cutlery but you should remember to clean and wash it after you used it. It strategic location made the hotel became a perfect place to stay, nearby with MRT station but not suitable for travellers with any big luggages.
We booked 01 room with 06 beds for 05 pax for 02 consecutive nights via my teacher lived in Singapore. Hotel is conveniently located near the train station, China Town & Marina Bay Sands. There were a lot of backpackers here but the room was clean. Simple daily breakfast (milk, tea, fruits, pastry & cereals) provided is great. Do not forget to get a complimentary sim (4G) at the Reception. Amenities are not enough & room was not too spacious as this is just a small hostel at the Central of Singapore with cheap rate. Will stay here again.
Stayed in a standard triple room with a loftbed and a single bed for just one night. Since we arrived late at night and was going to have an early check out we didn't think we needed the space and we also wanted to show the kids another way of living when on vacation. It was a bit irritating since we ended up being charged extra for the kids, 28 SGD per child for two children, even though we didn't (so we think) received any thing more for the price. This resulted in that the closet like room ended up being as expensive as a hotel room with a seperate bathroom and shower. So no more closet like room for us as a family - it's not worth is.
Smart looking hostel but space is very limited. Beds were comfy for what they were and although expensive for a hostel, it was the cheapest we found in Singapore. 1-4 nights stay is fine but I don't think it's appropriate for a long time stay.
Not really friendly people at check in. On the first day, 40 minutes before the end of the breakfast, there was no bread anymore. We only had one. Since that is almost the only thing to eat (beside milk with cornflakes) we asked if there was more bread. They told us to walk to another 5footway hostel if we wanted to eat more. I think this is bad so I told them that and then a guy got some bread for is, but not with a friendly gesture. Also, we did laundry and got our clothes back just stuffed and crumbled in a bag. The room was small (but clean, to be honest) and if you face the south bridge road, a lot of noise. From the neighbours as from the street as well. Overall, I would recommend another place to stay. Location is good though.
