Siesta Village is famous for its wild parrots up in the swaying palm trees as well as many other shorebirds including terns, plovers, ibis, spoonbills, and storks. Bird watching is one of the favourite activities of residents and visitors alike. The many varieties of wading birds, like the beautiful snowy egret, and the great heron are just a few of the different types on our beaches and in our village. Keep an eye out for our 4 to 5 foot tall Florida Sand Hill Cranes with their bright red heads and distinctive calling sounds. You will often see two walking side by side since they mate for life. Our birds seem to live comfortably among the people of Siesta Key.
