We spent a night here just after Easter to enjoy the last snow. We got a very good offer from their web-site and we really enjoyed it. It was very clean and the staff extremely kind. The breakfast offer an almost never ending selection of all types of food. It is located just few minutes away from the "gondola" to the top of the mountain, so very convenient. However, being central, you need to consider it can be noisy: we were woken up at 6:50 by the lorry collecting the rubbish making a terrible noise. Not the hotel's fault of course.

Beautifully situated, in the very centre. No need to use your car, parking 25€/day. When we arrived we asked to stay an extra night but the price was much higher than what we had originally paid. No goodwill gesture but "You can find cheaper hotels in town". I was so shocked that I didn't insist, I booked the extra night at the Vincci 5* hotel. The hotel is huge, had to take 2 lifts to go to the room. The breakfast room is enormous with an equally enormous breakfast buffet containing everything for everyone. Lots of families. The balneotherapy area with spa was wonderful. After 7pm, no more children. You have to buy slippers and cap if you don't have them. Towel and bathrobe are given. Small vials of shampoo, conditioner and bath gel in the bathroom. I asked for body cream at the reception (the night receptionist seemed tired and unresponsive) and I don't know who misunderstood what but a small vial of shampoo and conditioner was put on my bed! As the hotel is family based there was a list of activities going on everyday. Lovely view of the pine trees from the bedroom. It's an expensive hotel for what it is but perhaps its situation right in the centre and huge breakfast buffet makes the price shoot up.

from arriving in the car park under the hotel to leaving was a a very good experience, check in swift rooms standard hotel size but with super comfortable beds and excellent bathrooms plenty of storage breakfast has pretty well anything that anyone from anywhere could want excellent pool and spa

This hotel is living off its great location and abusing such with prices that reflect a luxury it does not deliver. The reception staff are particularly unfriendly..so strange in a tourist location. Our "suite" was ok space wise but the decor is SOOOO tired. The large plaster crack at the front door really set the scene for this old fashioned hotel that is in serious need of renovation. The courtesy water wine nuts etcs was so tired we opened 1 bottle of wine and left the rest...This is our 2nd trip here just for location so we came prepared to be disappointed with the decor and all over shabbiness of the hotel. 3 star decor at best. How it claims to be 4 star is a miracle.

Having stayed in other Melia hotels I had high hopes but this hotel was a big let down, The rooms were clean but apart from that not very inspired, the staff in general were friendly especially Jesus in the restaurant but the front of house/reception staff were down right rude and unhelpful. If you intend to use the pool make sure you bring flip flops and a pool cap otherwise they will make you buy them there, I can't remember the last 4/5 star hotel that made me wear a pool cap ??? We didn't even have robes or slippers in our room and the member of staff at the spa couldn't even organise a towel, needless to say I will not be returning and I will hesitate staying at another Melia !

Stayed here in previous years however I will think twice before returning. Pros... Rooms are comfortable and spacious enough for two persons. Breakfast buffet is excellent with wide choices. Half board option is excellent with fresh fish and steaks in abundance. Even had Turbot on the menu! Location is very central and near to gondolas for access to slopes. Cons... Very over priced this year as the resort was hosting the Snowboard World Championships. Whilst we had booked for 5 nights half board costing €1,310 (€262 per night) for twin room I enquired to add 2 additional nights. I was quoted €359 per night which I thought was extortionate and an attempt to exploit an opportunity. To have given us the same rate would have been fair. If you search around there are many more cost effective hotels and apartments in this resort which I will certainly look to consider next time...

The hotel is a strange mix of features. Mostly old wood and stone, it chucks in the old fashioned and new with abandon, with modern spa (which is lovely and head pool, Jacuzzi, steam and sauna) and random games room with outrun 2 of all things... nice facilities for kids and regular kids club activities too.

I was up the Sierra Nevada to ski for the 5th time and thought I'd book into the Melia for it's location - 2 min walk to the gondala up the mountain (key when walking in ski boots!) The room was clean and spacious, but basic - not kettle/tea/coffee, but on asking, a kettle was provided. I found the beds comfotable and there were plenty of power sockets. Ample storage and each room has it's own ski locker in the parking area which was very handy (there is parking under the hotel or in the main town parking btoh at an additional cost). I didn't have a 'mountain view room' but could still see some of the scenery, although not really important if you are skiing all day and sitting out at a bar for the afternoon/evening. The highlights were the spa - free to use for guests, it had hot/cold showers, sauna/steam room which were great for the muscles after a hard day on the slopes. the pool is cool so founf I couldn't sit in the jacuzzi bubbles too long. If it's busy with kids it's very noisy, but on my second night there were only 2 couples in the spa. The other bonus was my half-board package, meaning i didnt have to trawl through the villge and wait for dinner. Both morning and evening meals are buffet style, the choice and quality is amazing! they put out different main dishes each evening, plenty of salad/meach/cheese/soup. Dessert table is fab too! The chefs keep it all well stocked and fresh only down side was that drinks were not included with your dinner (juices, milk, coffee/tea available at breakfast). The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. I am already planning on booking again for my trip next year, it is not the cheapest place to stay, but for what you get I felt it was fantastic quality.

Stayed here for 4 nights on a ski trip with friends . The hotel is in a great location a short walk to the gondolas, ski shops , restaurants and bars . The underground car park is very good too . We stayed in a Melia room it was very comfortable and well furnished. We used the spa and gym which were excellent. Breakfast was superb in terms of offer and service . We will return .

It was a very good vacation, there was a slight perception of less value for the money paid. But it's mainly due to the room decor, and the extreme heat in the room at night. Nobody showed us where the heaters were so we could turn it off. Also, the room where we hang our ski boots had a very bad odor everyday.
