We usually choose to stay at moderately upscale to upscale Hotels. That said, we booked the Hotel Italia for a short stay in Siena and are glad we did. This hotel is one of the best values of any property I have booked anywhere. I had to change my reservation at the last minute,,,no problem. A sudden rainstorm came up and the manager gave us her umbrella and told us no problem. After work it won't be raining so she wouldn't need it. There was a transit strike when we were scheduled to check out and the front desk alerted us and arranged a car service to Florence to make our high speed train. The property was well appointed and conveniently located near the train station. When we revisit Siena, we will certainly stay at the Hotel Italia.
I got a room in the annex. Appearently there are quality differences between the rooms in the main building and those in the annex. The room was on the first floor. No elevator and no help with the luggage. The room is outdated with a noisy AC and bad WiFi connection. No sound proof Windows: you hear load nearby traffic all night. In addition, the French window could be easyly opened from the outside. Not a safe and secure place to stay in . The shower is super small. The room was not clean: Dirty floor and hair on the bed. On the positive side: Good breakfast. Close to train station.
This hotel is excellent. The decor is a little dated but it does not matter, it is in a perfect location just outside the city wall and ten minutes from the train station. The staff are so lovely and nothing is a trouble for them, an asset to the hotel.
I wasn't entirely sure about this hotel as it only had a 3 star rating, however after reading the reviews I'm glad we did choose this hotel. Location is perfect, only a few minutes walk from the station and 20 mins walk to the centre of Siena and main Piazza. Staff very friendly & welcoming. Lovely bar/lounge area to sit and relax after a day exploring the streets of this wonderful City. Breakfast was good with a good choice & very reasonably priced. Definitely recommend and well worth the money.
Booked this hotel due to the good reviews that I had read. We had a double executive room, which was very comfortable with a good large shower. Very clean hotel and easy to walk into the centre. We reserved car parking space at 10 euros per night. The hotel was very clean with very friendly and helpful reception staff which are a credit to the hotel. Breakfast was also very nice.
This hotel was on our last stop in Italy and that breakfast was what we needed after so much time traveling. Very good. The room decoration looked a bit old but is quite a cool French vintage kind of vibe. The beds are not the most comfortable ones. But the room was very clean. The recepcionists were really nice and pointed the best restaurants in the area. We loved Sienna!
This is a great hotel within walking distance to the old city and just an escalator ride from the train station. We knew the hotel is close to the train station, but didn't know about the escalator. You have to go into the hopping center and use the escalator from the top floor to get to the upper city. Our room was facing the street which is noisy with the beeping traffic light, but it was quiet at night. If possible, try not to drive to the hotel as parking spots are tiny and you need to be very careful to maneuver your car into and out of spots
Very handy for the station (once you've found all the escalators), and a short, but pleasant, walk into the centre of the beautiful city. We were told that we had been given an upgrade (to include a balcony). Our room had a slightly fusty smell (which diminished if we opened the windows). The bathroom sink was very slow to drain, and needed unblocking. The staff were friendly, but quite busy. If you went into the bar you'd have to find someone to serve you. I liked the bright and jolly bathroom accessories. Breakfast was ok, once you'd worked out how to work the various machines, I liked the pancake machine. We moved on by coach and Google suggested it stopped at the train station - it didn't. We then went to the bus station and got the coach, and found that our coach also picked up almost opposite the hotel! We hadn't enquired about this at the reception - I wish we had as I expect that they would have told us....
Lovely little hotel. Our room was in the annex but was not a problem. The air conditioning wasn't working after a long day walking u and down the streets of Siena but this was swiftly attended to. The engineer had to order a part that wouldn't be delivered until the following day, but we were given a powerful fan for the night. We could have changed rooms, but frankly we were too tired but the lovely letter of apology was greatly appreciated. Breakfast was typically continental but sufficient to set you up for the day. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this hotel.
I enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Italian more than any other hotel I have been in. Why? Well, it does not have a gym, and there is access to a swimming pool at the sister hotel round the corner. Also before going we were told the pool would be open in May. At the hotel we were told it would not be open till June. Despite this, I loved our stay. The hotel has a lovely, bright decor and the reception and dining areas have large windows letting in a lot of light. The staff were also bright, friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff worked hard and made sure the hotel was kept looking really clean. The breakfast was continental style with a great choice. The hotel is about half a mile from the entrance to the old city. That suited me, since I love walking. The Via Francigena (the old pilgrim walk from Canterbury to Rome) passes right in front of the hotel on its way through Sienna to Rome. We walked a bit of it - enjoying the Tuscan countryside.
