First trip to Anguilla and I lucked out finding Millys Inn , super location a couple minutes walk to Shoal Bay beach. The apt I had which was an upstairs unit was spacious and spotlessly clean with a wonderful porch over looking Shoal Bay. I went in mid August and although there is no AC there is actually no need for one as you get a great breese throughout the apartment. Apryl the manager was super helpful throughout and Fredrica the house keeper is amazing , already planning my next stay at Milly's
We are very fortunate to be spending our Christmas break at Milly's. This is our second stay here and we love it just as much as the first. Maybe even more. We've come to think of it as our home away from home. It is just so comfortable and spacious. (A full apartment with covered outdoor seating area.) It feels so open and airy and the Anguilla breezes keep it the perfect temp, even without air conditioning. Fredrica, the housekeeper, greets us with a smile every morning. Apryl, the reservations manager, is always pleasant, professional, and quick to respond to any inquiries. And even though it is only a five minute walk to one of the best beaches on Anguilla (Shoal Bay East), the rates fit any traveler's budget. We are so thankful for this as, otherwise, we would not be able to enjoy this beautiful island and all it has to offer. This visit, we were able to bring friends to stay at Milly's as well. They loved Milly's as much as we do and completely understood why it is the only place we wish to stay when visiting. They hope to be able to return for a longer visit next winter. Milly's has everything that matters to us. It has history (a quick Google search will give you the story of Milly herself, an amazing woman). It has spacious apartments (a real plus when so many places can feel so small, especially for longer stays). It has location (a short walk or drive from the best part of Shoal Bay East). And it has value (it costs a fraction of what the resorts charge). It's clean, well-equipped, local, and a short drive to a good market, a great bakery, and some other quality dining options (all in Island Harbor). We truly love everything about it and it's no wonder we consider it to be our home away from home. [Footnote: the current location listed on Google Maps for Milly's is incorrect. You access it directly from the road to Island Harbor. Take a right to stay on the main road (before descending down towards Madeariman). There is a large sign along the road to guide you.]
We just completed a three night stay at Milly's Inn and have to write about how much we loved it. It was the perfect place for us. It is within easy walking distance to Shoal Bay, which is our favorite beach on Anguilla. Fredrica (the housekeeper) keeps the place spotless and shows up every morning to see if you need anything. She showed us the footpath to the beach from Milly's (which, after a 5 minute walk, comes out at Elodia's on the beach). We loved Elodia's (as well as the beach directly in front of it) and spent the majority of every day there. Milly's was so clean and comfortable. It felt like being in someone's home. We had everything we needed and there were so many nice touches as well (like fresh flowers on the table, ice ready for us in the freezer, bottles of water in the fridge upon our arrival, beach towels neatly rolled and ready for use, etc.) And it's a full kitchen. You don't need to bring a thing. Every kitchen convenience you could want on a holiday is already there and available to you. There is no a/c but the strong sea breezes kept us plenty cool. We were in an upstairs unit and we could see Shoal Bay from our balcony. Milly's was safe and quiet and convenient and well-managed. Apryl was absolutely amazing and she always replied to my messages quickly. She and Fredrica were always looking out for us and we very much appreciated them both. When we return to Anguilla, we will stay at Milly's again. We can't imagine staying anywhere else. It was absolutely perfect for us and has a genuine, local feel. Plus, Milly's is a great value in Anguilla (an otherwise fairly expensive island). Just FYI, the following places are highly recommended and within either easy walking or driving distance from Milly's: Le Bon Pain for breakfast (5 minute drive), Elodia's for lunch (strong drinks and tasty fish bites), Artisan for dinner (a stone's throw from Le Bon Pain). Plus, there is a small super market just past Artisan where you can easily stock up on all the basics. A few more reasons to give Milly's a try.
We spent 4 weeks at Milly's Inn last March and 2 weeks the year before. The apartment was spotlessly clean thanks to Fredrika who, other than Sunday, is on site daily. The beds were comfortable and I can attest to that because I tried the other units as well. We are very particular about beds. Linens were always fresh and clean. Every morning we prepared breakfast which was enjoyed on the terrace and when we didn't have lunch at Eloidia's on the beach it was just a quick 3 min walk back to Milly's for lunch. The breezes are steady, air conditioning is not required, fans were enough and often not required. There is a safe in each room. I consider Milly's the best kept secret on Anguilla if you like simplicity, peace & quiet, cleanliness and proximity to one of the best beaches in the world and not to mention affordability. You will, however, need a car.
Anguilla got a direct hit and they really suffered heavy damage to many buildings. 180 MPH winds tore the roofs off many buildings, including one of the schools. The good news: Electricity is now back on for most of the island. Being on the lee side of the island, Millie's Inn did not get as much of the terrible wind that the windward side of the island got. (The beach is still OK.) But they lost part of the roof, the rooms got soaked, most of the furniture is ruined. Some of the doors and windows got blown off too. The little office got de-roofed. So there is no way they can get ready for this winters vacation people, like those of us who already had our reservations. We chose to donate our vacation down payment for them to use towards repairs. But hang in there everybody, Millie's Inn will be back as soon as they can, and we will be there! I will put up info here once we have an update, email is now up and running well. The Anguillans are very hard working and resourceful people and hopefully this storm damage will be taken care of very soon.
Good services, good position, good terrace for relax moment. Free local call for guest to book restaurant, rent boat, rent car and other, to keep in touch with local people of anguilla Free parking and very near to wonderful beach of anguilla ( 5 min by walk )
We have stayed here before, and have a trip planned coming up soon. Its been over 10 years ago, but its our cup of tea. We love the quietness, the lack of tourists and noise. We are an older couple, and dont want the rush, noise, shopping push, crowds, traffic, or any of those things. Thats why we love Millie's Inn. We loved Millie, she reminded me so much of my mom. Wish she would be still alive, so that I could sit down and have a cup of coffee with her like we used to. Her inn is run by her daughter and son in law now, and it will remain the same, peaceful and not glitzy or expensive,,,,,,,but just PERFECT! I am basing my reviews on previous stays, and the review process wants new info, so you have to know that I will put a NEW review up when we come home. But when you have a great experience once, twice, and more,,,,,you want to put up a good review.
We are a married couple who have travelled extensively in the Caribbean and always wanted to go to Anguilla which was recently voted the second most expensive island after St Barth's. Milly's Inn at $182 USD a night was at the top of our budget but really is the entry level in Anguilla. In our opinion this is a case where you "don't get what you pay for". Having said that other places that are cheaper like Sydan's in Sandy Ground were awful (proceed with caution), Elodia's just down the hill from Milly's was slightly more expensive but had AC. Milly's Inn accommodations are nicely furnished, clean and comfortable. The location is great within a 5 minute walk of one of the best beaches on the island if not the whole Carribbean (Shoal beach west) . The vantage point on the hill provides panoramic views and beautiful sunsets. Milly's Inn has 4 units two up and two down. Each unit has a dining/living area , a fully functional kitchen (with all the utensils and appliances you need), one bedroom, a bathroom and a large balcony with loungers. Anetta the housekeeper/manager is cheerful and is very helpful with anything you might need. She lives onsite and is in constant contact with Vince the owner. Anetta works hard to keep the rooms clean! We did have some issues with Milly's Inn. There was no water from 615 pm Mon night until noon Tues which also meant NO SHOWERS or TOILETS. Vince did bring in a water truck relatively quickly. There was NO AC which had I known beforehand I would not have booked although my wife found the trade winds fine for cooling temperature. The TV in room 4 did not work nor did the phone. Screen doors to the terrace were broken, some windows were missing screens and the ceiling fan in the living room would only operate on low.The microwaves are all OLD, ours broke while we were there but Vince replaced it the next day! The bedrooms don't have "black out" type curtains so the sun comes in very, very early and the rooster's start crowing at sunrise(4am) so if you are an early riser this is not a big deal. I don't think we could recommend Milly's Inn until the issues I mentioned above are fixed. Having said that we enjoyed our stay and Anguilla has the best beaches that we have seen in the Caribbean . Elodia's beach bar is at the entrance to the beach and just a little further down the beach is Uncle Ernie's, Madeariman and Gwen's. Gwen's is a must for Sun afternoon live music!!. We rented a car and beach chair and umbrella from Andy's Auto Rentals (highly recommended ) and traveled around the Island exploring the many other wonderful beaches like Rendezvous , Mead's and Maunday's. Finally Milly's has a charcoal BBQ that Anetta allowed us to use which was nice. A nice Inn that needs to spend some money to fix some of the problems.
If you are looking for a budget accommodation on a very expensive island - Milly's Inn fits the bill. It is spacious, you can walk to the best beach (Shoal Bay East) or drive 2 minutes. Anita (the maid) is extremely helpful. When we asked for directions to the supermarket, she drove there with us and helped us shopped. She kept the place spotless every day. We enjoyed taking our meals on a terrace overlooking such beauty (we stayed on the 2nd floor, definitely worth exta $10). We stayed in December 4th to 12th and it rained every day (mostly at night, but one day was a complete loss due to rain). The most enjoyable were the trade winds that allow to live without air conditioning (the apartment did not have one). It would be unbearable in the spring/summer months. The TV did not work and we were told it would be fixed - it was never fixed. Local phone was supposed to work, it did not. Screen doors to the terrace are broken, was hard to open/close them. Lot's mosquitoes. One day there was no water but the owner brought in water truck very quickly. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much and it is a good value for this pre-season prices. I am not sure I would pay double (this would be the price after December 15th).The location is kind of remote from all major resorts and restaurants so car is required.
my first trip to Anguilla to enjoy the massive event of Aug Monday, been there since Sunday Aug 2nd until Tuesday Aug 4th and I must say that Milly's in is the place to be if your are looking for a peaceful vacation. great view and a wonderful maid! my only downfall is that customs will charge you a certain amount of tax at blow point depending what kind of passport you have (that is steeling in front your face) our good friend taxi driver Accelyn Conner were there for us anytime we needed him . beach I beautiful and relaxing. I will return to Anguilla pretty soon, because we had great fun. greetings, Luis Bryson from St.Maarten Dutch Caribbean
