Intercontinental Shijiazhuang is a great hotel to stay in Shijiazhuang. Nice staff and good management make this an excellent place to stay. The spacious rooms with all comfortable amenities and high quality toiletries make the stay very pleasant. The rooms and bathroom were very clean and well maintained. The breakfast quality and variety of choice in both Chinese and International cuisines was great. The restaurant staffs were very polite, quick in service and always eager to help. Overall the Intercontinental experience in Shijiazhuang was great and we enjoyed our 5 nights stay tremendously. This hotel is an ideal place for biasness travellers; family vacation or visitors to Shijiazhuang who may want to have peaceful and confortable stay in the town.
First trip to Shijiazhuang and this hotel. Not far from the high speed train station. Arrived in the evening and scored an upgrade to a club floor. Extra large king bed room including huge bathroom and walk in closet. Wifi worked well no issues and would've been a good room to work from if necessary. Buffet breakfast had large selection of Asian and western foods and good coffee. The gym (6.5/10) was good but had a limited amount of equipment. Treadmills and ellipticals plus one each of standard and recumbent bikes. No spin bike or rowing machine. 6 weight machines covering the basic exercises, including a smith machine. Dumbbells as well. Separate area for floor work was a plus. I only did a quick walk around in the evening but there is ample shopping and restaurants nearby, both in the Wanda mall and on the street. Another good property from InterContinental.
My room on the 20th floor was spacious with everything I needed. However the temperature was totally uncontrollable. Heat rising from the lower floors made the room uncomfortably hot. Colleagues staying on floors 9 & 10 were more comfortable.
Kudos for the staff who goes above expectations. Staff is very friendly and works hard to make customers feel welcome. Besides this, the hotel lacks on many points and should perhaps no more deserve the "Intercontinental" branding. As a matter of fact , many "modest" Holiday Inn in China offer a much better comfort than this Intercontinental. A long list of negative points: - Although clean, hotel is dated and shows sign of wear and tear. (damaged walls, carpets,....to be seen here and there) - Top floors are unbearably hot (27 degrees in the room, with no options to cool it!) - Lower floors are on the cooler side...but the air-con does not work properly to warm it a bit. - Issues with the water (not warm enough, or too hot...) - Issues with TV remote - Issues with the phone ( direct dial buttons dialing to... nowhere..) - Issues with the lighting. (the light sensor in the walk inn closet is nerves breaking!) - Issues with the alarm clock - Issues with the air purifier provided in the room. - Some carpets stained - Price is too expensive in these conditions The so called "IHG Elite members room upgrade" is another failed promise. Too many issues here to make the stay a flawless experience. Not to Intercontinental standards. Willing to try the HI or the Hilton for my next stay.
Stayed at the Intercontinental Shijiajuang for two nights. About 20 min taxi from the high speed train station in low traffic conditions. Arrived late and checked out early, so they were a short two nights. The hotel lobby is very nice. Spacious and impressive. Check in process was quick and our bags were carried to our rooms for us. Room was very nice. The bed was very comfortable - firm but not hard. I slept extremely well. The bathroom was elegant and well appointed. A separate bathtub was large and perfect after a long travel day. The towels and robes provided were plush. Lots of toiletry items provided also. A very nice walk in closet kept luggage mess to a minimum. Iron and ironing board was available in the room. Internet service was fast and free. Breakfast buffet was delicious and provided a huge variety. They even had a bagged breakfast for us on the day we had to leave too early to eat in the restaurant. An excellent stay! Would definitely stay again.
Though it's another very expensive five star hotel, but it's wroth it. Rooms are perfectly clean, very good breakfast with many choices, beautiful swimming pool and sauna, attentive staff, quite and warm place.
Good hotel with spacious room. The room was a bit dark and too warm, and the temperature control was not functioning well. So, the staff offered me a fan and I had to left the window opened all night. Front staff was ok but not fluent in English which I did not expect for an international hotel. Concierge was very helpful. Overall good value for money.
This was my second time to Intercontinental Shijiazhuang, front desk service is ok, when I ask any bus direct to the airpot, the concierge not very friendly to assit me. Beside Wanda Shopping Mall, Overall OK
When I arrived at the hotel I was greeted friendly. Checking in was easy and quick. Although I forgot my IHG card Doris Li went out of her way to find out the member number. Breakfast buffet is terrific. Yes and if the cook at the egg station does not speak English there is always someone around to translate. Therefore no reason to complain.
The strength of this hotel is the efficiency of the staff. Yes, it is 5 star rated because of accomodations but from the check-in to the assisting staff, and even the "early" morning checkout staff, they are all a pleasure to be around. If you are in this area, you must stay here. Mall close by. Tea shops that tempt everything you want to learn about tea. And if you just feel like walking around a few blocks, do so...you will feel at home.
