no elevator at this hotel despite it being recently extensively renovated.
It's clear the hotel is being resurrected but it has a long way to go. Its main attraction is as a convenient stopover on the major motorway, part of the WelcomeBreak chain. They advertised an on-site restaurant but 2 of the 3 days I stayed it was closed for dinner due to staffing shortages. No notice of the closing was given upon check in or during my stay and no one really cared as there were a few fast food eateries and a market in the WelcomeBreak rest area 150 yards away. The one night the kitchen was open for dinner, the food was good, standard fare. Breakfast was available each day and it was good. It seemed like the rooms had undergone the most basic work possible. All door handles were set with 1 screw instead of the 3 so many handles were loose. There were only two outlets available in the room and the positioning of them wouldn't take my US Apple MacBook recharger with the UK adapter so I had to work in the lobby area to get a access to power. My major complaint was that in the hallway across from my room, there was an exposed wall with lots of black mold and nothing was done to clean, cover or fix it during my 3-day stay. Otherwise, the people were nice and when all work is complete, it will be worth the rate. But right now, like I said, it's a work in progress.
