It's like entering a castle with a truly feeling to be knight. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very spacious and clean. Staying at a room with Park View, gives you a peaceful rest. The large private park with is an oasis of peace within the busy city. The first evening I had dinner at the al day dining restaurant and enjoyed. On the second day I went to the German restaurant. The pork knuckle was fantastic. It was a great stay at a hotel with an unusual and impressing architecture.
I stayed at the MARITIM Hotel Shenyang (P.R.C.) during a business trip. The place was a choice of my local colleagues. After I had a bad experience with a MARITIM facility in Germany last summer I ended up in another one in Shenyang. Arriving in front of the hotel with 2 suitcases and one piece of hand luggage I did not get any assistance from the staff of the hotel to get my luggage from the taxi to the reception desk. The English skills of the staff at the reception desk was very limited. Though the check-in procedure was done in a professional way it was neither friendly nor unfriendly, it was more like “yes, you are here but I couldn’t care less”. At no point of time I was given the impression that I was welcome as a customer. Not a single smile. The lobby hall appeared to be huge, well decorated and clean with a couple of restaurants and shops. Somehow I had the feeling the architect kind of used the Shanghai Peace Hotel as a template. That impression however disappeared immediately once I came into my (standard) room. The room was bigger than rooms of this category normally are in hotels. Spacy bathroom with a huge shower cabinet plus a bath tub. Both room and bathroom were clean at first sight. I have no clue how old the hotel is. However, the room and its furniture was pretty worn out - definitely lacking maintenance. Though I intended to stay longer than on an average business trip I was not able to unpack my suitcases as there were no closets other than one with very restricted space for a few items of hanging goods. In areas without wallpaper paint was cracked and peeling off. Some of the lamps in the room did not work. In addition the room had a huge balcony. However, that’s exactly where the cleanliness ended dramatically. The canopied balcony’s flooring and the furniture was covered by dust and dirt (f.e.stubs) and so were the walls. No way that one could step outside. Some previous guests obviously did and the footsteps could still be seen in the dust. The balcony door could not be locked and the door did not shut airtight. Hence the cold air ( 0C/-14C ) was pouring into the room challenging the heating and causing a constant noise of the A/C ventilator. Together with the cold air also the extreme air pollution (AQI at that time up to 270 and a concentration of 2.5u particle of 219) got into the room. Didn’t feel good. Temporarily I shared the room with a strange bug. I don't know whether it was the only homemate - and I do not want to know. The breakfast was at the lower edge of what you call average. Honestly nothing was really missing but there was no highlight either. In a nutshell, nothing compared to other hotels in Asia including China that I know. Again I did not feel like being appreciated as a customer. Service was limited to removing used dishes from the table. Not even coffee/tea was served. Recommendation: There must be better places in Shenyang and I will certainly find me one next time.
We stayed at this hotel during a recent business trip to Shenyang, the hotel is vast, the guest rooms I found to be reasonably clean and a decent size. There is a German themed pub within the hotel that was a nice surprise, the breakfast buffet was very good by Chinese hotel standards. I would stress that the hotel is typically Chinese, not many of the staff speak English, the service is very mediocre as with most Chinese hotels, but overall it is good value considering.
Nice room in chinese hotel. If you arrive no one will help you with suitcase. Check in and have enough time because in chinese hotels takes more than 30 minutes. Be not angry if you have no knife and fork and try to find at breakfast. Tables you must clean first before you can have breakfast. Do not come before 7 because no waiters will be there. Actually do not expect any international service in this hotel. As the management said to me we are concentrated now on chinese guests. Is exactly what it is. A real chinese hotel. Anyway rooms are nice and food is good. Just do not wait for any good service. Than you can go there.
This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel. Its a very nice hotel on the main road of Shenyang. But pretty secluded from the main road. Large rooms, good bed linen etc.Only downside is breakfast-it hardly has variety for Non Chnese people. all the roof as well as done is painted in European classic style with cherubs and women in togas etc... I would have appreciated it more had there been classical paintings from China.
The new Maritim Hotel in Shenyang is one of those wow hotels in China. It has a Vienna theme with amazing corridors and roof murals. The rooms are large, luxurious and comfortable. The breakfast is delicious with a large variety of food. I will be back!
You can't use the swimming pool unless you have a swimming cap? What the hell is that? Why did they fell to mention that in advance? And if that's the regulation..why not provide it to the guest like towels etc?...they are selling the caps fir 65 each! Furious!
What a huge place. Impressive lobby, spacious rooms, luxury bathrooms. Very kind, responsive and attentive staff. Very clean. I can really recommend for business travellers. The hotel is not responsible for the air situation in this multi million city, the dust on the balcony or traffic. Very price attractive.
I recently stayed at this hotel for 3 nights while on a business trip. Here are the pros: - check-in staff very friendly - rooms are a decent size - location is good - gym is nicely equipped - price is good Cons: - Air conditioning does not work and is centrally controlled at 24 Celsius (although they come by and tell you it's fixed it is not) - breakfast buffet is grossly over-priced and the variety is not good - pool is extremely over-chlorinated - executive floor does not have any benefits and there is no service at the executive lounge at all Overall an average hotel and if you like to sleep in a warm room this place is for you.
Stayed here for three nights on a business. Location is good if you are going to a certain German Car manufacturer, but the local area is pretty much a construction site. Room was large and very clean, staff spoke Ok:ish English. The place is HUGE and there weren't that many guests when I was there so it felt a bit empty. Be prepared to walk long distances just to get from your room to the bar/ restaurant/ entry. 70 odd RMB for a beer in the pub is steep, I suggest ordering Tsingtao from room service for 22 RMB a pop.
