Needs MAJOR renovation!

I've stayed in many hotels over the past few months including 5* and no frills hotels, so I am aware that you get what you pay for. BUT this hotel was an absolute state! In the evening there were only 2 members of staff in the hotel, so when we couldn't unlock the door (for the second time that day and after trying for 20 minutes) we had to wait for the second member of staff to cover so that the other could help to unlock the door! The room was relatively clean, the bathroom was very old. BUT the shower was so powerful you couldn’t actually stand under the spray unless you wanted to get blown away. The radiator in the room was on full blast and my attempts to turn it down did not work. When I rang reception they stated that maintenance were not in so nothing could be done. This hotels one saving grace was the breakfast. It was freshly made, with lots of choice and variety. They even had vegetarian sausages, which I have never seen in all the hotels I have stayed in! It came piping hot and the waiter was very attentive. Also the view from the eigth floor was amazing, especially at night! If you literally just want a bed to sleep in, then this hotel isfor you as the bed was very comfy.

Very Poor

I was extremely disappointed in the the standard of this hotel. The hotel is in great need of repair and redecoration. care: i had my car broken into in the hotel carpark and then had to spend a pound using the hotels internet to look up the telephone number of my insurance company. The hotel staff were friendly but didn't really seem to care about what had happened.I definately would avoid this hotel.

Could be a nice hotel

...but unfortunately it isn't quite. The hotel looks like it originally aimed to be rather classy, but definitely needs maintenance. The room was quite nice, unfortunately, there was only hot water occasinally, which spoilt the impression. The staff was nice but very casual (my key was misplaced after depositing it in the reception, fortunately the receptionist remembered I handed it in). Location is central and price is very reasonable but hot water would be nice.
