The Seagull on the Bund

Overall the hotel is ok with its price. The biggest problem with this hotel is internet speed and WiFi. There is no WiFi in this hotel. The internet speed is very very poor, I mean 2G may be faster then it. I downloaded a 10 MB PPT to took more then 3 minutes and the best speed I have seen is about 60KB. If you need internet to get some work done, look somewhere else for you trip.

The hotel is dirty, rooms smelled bad, and linen has obvious stains on them. The staff are rude and barely spoke English. The hotel advertisements stated that Seagull on the Bund is four-stars hotel: it is a motel by any standard and does not even meet one-star rating. I left the hotel in the first hour because of the terrible smell. Never, never stay or get close to that nasty hotel.

I checked in at the hotel around 3 PM. The Hotel is actually a Motel by International Standards. It smells bad everywhere. The Staff are spaced out and do not look like they want to be there. A I entered the room, it smelled so bad that my head started to spin and I could not breath easily. I turned on the airconditioner hoping that the smell will go away, but it got worst. The room is small, the carpet is dirty with small creatures occupying the under-bed. The sheets had siemen on them. Do not stay in that hotel even if they offer you a discount. I had to forgo the money I spent and leave the hotel right away; I got a real five start hotel for the same price. I will never stay in a nasty hotel (motel): it is a trap!

Poor service, dirty rooms, regular location near the bund

wire internet in the rooms does not work, even in the rooms where its included in the fee... this was my second stay in the hotel and had same problem both times, the worst was the way they wanted to solve.... after more than 1 hour waiting for somebody to check the internet he told me "We are not engenieer and we cant do something else for you"... in that moment I made an advaced check out. Nice river views but terrible staff atitude.

Great location - we came off a cruise ship and were able to walk with our trolley cases to the hotel. It is also located close many interesting areas of Shanghai and the others are easily reached by transport.

The bathrooms were dirty. I had booked three rooms, and there were stains on the carpets. In china, when you check out in most hotels the cleaning staff go to the room and examine it and the mini bar, which is normal. In this particular hotel, we had left behind some expensive foods 9which was meant as a gift) in the fridge, and despite it been checked by staff, it was not reported to us and more than likely it was kept and eaten for them selves. The manager was very abrut when we tried to contact the hotel on the above issue. Apart from this, the breakfast that we paid for, was of very low quality and I would certainly advise anyone else not to stay in this hotel in the future. As mentioned above the rooms were not clean, the tiles in my bathroom were cracked and I could go on … Stay away.

Right next to the Bund. Wonderful unobstructed view of all the skyscrapers and the river. If you are a walker and can manage the subways the location is fine, otherwise it is taxi and traffic time.

Good value. Good hotel. Good staff. Far from metro. Needed to take taxi or walk far.

This is a very nice Hotel . Good service and a nice restaurant which can be hit or miss . You can walk to many areas on this side of Bund with a street closeby with many Chinese restaurants . Also, you can walk to Nanjing road but remember that taxis are a real bargain . Usually no more than a couple of dollars US . This is a big city and hard to get a grip on but this hotel has a good location .
