My room was impeccable, very clean and comfortable. Staff was very nice, friendly, and helpful! Location was the best as there were restaurants and shops located right outside the door. There was also a full grocery store with a wine shop down the escalator. Was also located in the downtown area with high-end shops. Wish we could have stayed a couple more days.

This place is wonderful. The staff are all very nice and extremely helpful. Mia the hostess is especially cheerful and will always help to brighten up your day with her smile! I highly recommend this hotel for people traveling on business or holiday. Richard

Amazing hotel. My wife and kids stayed here and experienced the best hotel service in her 10+ years of international travel. Every hotel staff greeted my family with a friendly hello and smile. The hotel smells great, very clean, very important. 5 star breakfast buffet. The kids program was nice touch to involve my kids in the whole hotel experience. Made them feel welcome. Very safe, great location. Close to some great restaurants.

You will not find someone more willing to take care of you and make you feel at home. I was on business at the Portman ritz Carlton and she made all the difference in my stay. This really helped my long work days to be taken care of this far from home.

I had stayed at this hotel 14 years ago and was impressed. I decided to try the Portman again, although I usually stay at the JW Marriott. Are a platinum Marriott member, I expected some kind of recognition for loyalty. What I got was an old, tired, dark room, supposedly an upgrade, which makes me wonder what non-upgraded rooms are like. No lounge access, no coffee pot, no ironing board, and a sink that did not drain. The neighborhood is nice, but the hotel's pretentiousness exceeds what it delivers. There are better choices.

I would absolutely stay here again. I stayed here for a work trip and I will always stay here when visiting Shanghai. Amazing location because it is near many shops and restaurants and the staff also provided excellent service.

Great service, nice staff! Thanks to Brent and Frank. I went to hotel quick early, the hotel lobby renovated years ago, very nice decorates lobby. Helpful bell boy, and Frank still remember me even I was there two years ago. Brent helped me to check in, very nice and patient young man. Every hotel staff are polite and smile say hello to me. I had a wonderful experience Ritz-Carlton Portman. The location of Ritz-Carlton Portman is a busy area and having a small community.

I stay here for 7 days for business. It's my first time in this hotel and it makes me feel like home. Everyday when I walk through lobby, Rachel can always recognize me. Also Monica at lobby her smile and attitude is very good. Next time I'll still choose this hotel.

This is the very first time my husband and I have been to Shanghai and have a chance to stay in Shanghai's busiest hotel, The Portman Ritz Carlton. The hotel is always crowded by guests who visit from various countries. Because of its strategic location and competitive price and excellent facilities, it is no wonder this becomes the busiest hotel. Check in and check out time is served quickly by the front office. Similarly, when there is a need in the room, quickly responded by room service. At one time I needed an iron for my clothes, I lent an iron and an iron table during my stay there. Too bad the housekeeping clerk could not understand English, so it was a bit difficult communicating. But the housekeeping officer responded very well and tried hard to understand what I meant. Her name is Angela. Even throughout our stay, our room was cleaned twice in one day. No significant problems in the hotel room. However, the latrine does not have a shower/spray which is rather difficult if you want to wash after peeing or defecating. The facilities at the hotel are quite complete, though I did not try it at all. Every morning I eat at the restaurant, the menu is very varied and I love the fruits that quite a lot. The provision of fruit, salad, juice, salmon sashimi, yoghurt, was very pleasing to me. There was even fruit, juice in bottles and yogurt that guests could bring. If we skip breakfast, we can request breakfast on the go that has been prepared in the box. I did not have the chance to try noodle soup because it was only provided with pork soup, while I did not consume pork. Preferably made choices other than pork. Other thing that was unfortunate is the service in entrusting the luggage was a bit slow during pickup, which made me have to wait more than 10 minutes. The hotel is in a complex with apartments, restaurants, cafe and bar around it, which always keeps busy. There is also a supermarket at the front downstairs of the hotel. The restaurant around the hotel is quite pleasant and could be a choice of dinner. There is also a money changer outside the hotel that facilitates the exchange of money. On the sidewalk outside the hotel, there are many park benches for people just sitting around enjoying the breeze. It's so fun. The hotel is not far from the bus stop and the metro line, moreover just a step away from the luxury shopping center. Which I can suggest is, hotel employees should be equipped with knowledge of English in order to communicate well. As a conclusion, I really enjoyed my time at this hotel. I want and will make a return one time later.

This is a Ritz Carlton. The brand name demands certain standards and expectations. Some of the guest areas, the restaurant and bar have recently been refurbished and the bar especially to a very high standard. The bar tenders also really know their stuff which is great. Checking out the bar here is highly recommended. The hotel has a great location in Jing'An and pretty close to Jing'An Temple station. It has many upmarket shopping malls around as well as the temple itself. I felt that the rooms here are starting to get a little tired. The hotel is large and I stayed on the club floor in a business studio. The rooms are large and spacious but the decor does feel as if it is becoming slightly dated. That being said it is still perfectly comfortable and clean. The hotel from its look could be branded as a marriott and this would fit. What I felt saves this hotel and does earn it the Ritz Carlton name was the service. Every member of staff which I encountered on my stay here was great. They were all friendly kind and welcoming. The service in the club lounge was even a step beyond this, they all seemed to know my name from the moment I checked in to the moment I checked out - the same can be said for the service in the ritz bar. The service in this hotel is truly special.
