My wife and I visited the Portman Ritz-Carlton to celebrate both Chinese New Year and our 10th Wedding anniversary. The hotel is well appointed and has excellent facilities throughout - however what makes this hotel truly extraordinary is its phenomenal staff; it always felt like nothing was too much and would do anything to ensure that we had a wonderful stay. I hope my wife and I will have the opportunity to return to the Portman Ritz-Carlton again soon!
This is the second time we stay in this hotel in the last year. Location and services are excellent! It is a very nice place to stay, there is a lot of restaurants and nice shops near by and the attentions of club supervisor Mrs Peggy Liu are great!
Very nice hotel. Amazing drop off area in the front, but the lobby is not easy to find, and I didn't see waiting area with sofa, which made me standing there for a while to wait for my boyfriend to check in. helpful staffs, rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, and breakfast are very good, lots of choices! Best location, there are so many shops around, walking to everything!
From check-in to check-out, the highlight of my stay was the executive club lounge. The staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble. The buffet lunch, evening nibbles and the chocolate treats included in the package were a pleasant light alternative to a full meal and the self-service wine bar had a very nice Shiraz. On top of that, the occasional surprise treats that appeared in the room were a very nice touch. Thanks for everyone at the Ritz-Carlton for making a business trip as comfortable as possible.
I stayed a total of 5 nights at the hotel while on a recent business trip. I walked all the way to the Bund area. It was a long but pleasant walk. I also visited the Shanghai Museum and the temple of the Jade Buddah. Both are very nice. Ask for directions at the hotel lobby and get a detailed street map. All of the street signs are in English and Chinese, so it's not hard to find your way. The hotel has an excellent breakfast buffet and is centrally located on a nice main street. Avoid the men along Nanjing Road who volunteer to help you shop. They are trying to sell you fake merchandise. Just ignore them and/or shake your head and they will leave you alone.
So I recently had business in Shanghai and I brought my wife along so she could see Shanghai. We had a bumpy start, but the hotel graciously corrected their mistake. The club lounge staff are same of the nicest and professional staff I have had the pleasure of interacting with. I am going to spell some of the names wrong and may forget a name or two but I want to give a warm and personal thank you to. Bonnie and Christian for correcting and making the bumpy start a easy transition to feeling welcome. Then the staff at the lounge. Thank you Lena, Peggy, Cecilia, Vivian, Aubrey, Tina, Jerry. And anyone I am forgetting Thank you and see you again I hope. Personal thank you to Lisi the concierge for taking care of my wife and making her feel special.
All I can say is “wow” The people at Ritz Carlton never seize to amaze me. My stay was exceptional. From the moment I booked a great experience began. As I checked in I was greeted by wonderful staff at the door and also at reception. I was worried about traveling with my broken leg, but the staff made me feel comfortable and like I was right at home. Juliana helped me to check in and made sure to find a convenient room for me to help improve accessibility. It was a simple thought that made a huge positive impact. Her kind gesture ended up making me stay an extra night considering the convenience. After checking in Lena helped me to move my luggage and greet me at the lounge. She was so kind and gentle. It really felt like she wanted the best for me. She’s really smart. After a short rest I headed to the lounge where Aubrey helped me to make an espresso. Her energy was so welcoming and I almost felt as if I knew her from before (even though we’ve never met before). Over coffee we had a great conversation about fun things to do in Macau. After some meetings, I returned to the lounge for some refreshment. It was then when I met Tina. She offered me some fruit and dessert, or tea and drinks. She also really cared for my situation and recommended some options that could help me to feel better. Eventually Tina helped make me a custom tea (Zhu Hua Pu’er Tea). It was delicious and nice to sip on as I relaxed after a long day traveling. The conversation was priceless. Later that night I met Sophie... we were able to align with our thoughts on Love and Relationships. Besides the tea and fruit, it was refreshing to be able to have such a philosophical conversation. She made me feel like I was really at home. The next morning I met Ray. Some say he’s the best omelette chef in the world. I would agree with that. He cooked a personalized omelette, and continuously, Day after day, remembered my order and situation. Great guy to chat with and has a bright future ahead of him as a chef. That night Jerry was able to help me get my clothes pressed, even though it was a tight schedule. He went above and beyond to ensure that they would be done before the time I needed them. I felt a great sense of trust and assurance, it gave me a clear mind. During the stay Sharon was nice to help keep my room clean. She left notes and flowers, and one day I walked in to be slightly frightened by a elephant formed from towels on my bed. She was never intrusive and always so polite and timely. I felt like every time I returned to the room it got better. Finally on the last day, Akin helped me to carry my bags down to the car as I left for the airport. He helped me to prepare for the ride and what traffic conditions may look like. His ability to present this information really impressed me. Over the course of my stay at the Ritz there were so many pleasant surprises. These “wow” moments are the things that make me want to keep coming back. It was the little gestures that really made me feel I was at home, haven’t been forgotten, and was most importantly, am part of a family. Thank you so much to the Portman Ritz team. Can’t wait to come back. Keep up the good work and Happy Chinese New Year!
Great experience! Perfect location for business meetings and fantastic couture shopping. The team was so helpful and made my stay at the end of a very long trip relaxing and delightful. I'd recommend this location for a business or personal trip for adults/professionals.
A good not too costly option when visiting Shanghai. The RC touch makes it a good choice. BF buffet is a bit cramped. Room on a high floor (44) was nice. Location is convenient with metro and lots of shops nearby.
i only stay here few days for businesses tirp and got warm welcome from ms aubrey who work in club lounge. Her excellent memory has completely surprised me even though we only had a brief talk in my last visit in summer. She's so professional and always showing me genuine care. Classic hotel with spectacular location in west Nanjing or SH. i would like to recommend here to anyone who has high expectations.
