This is the very first Marriott of Shanghai. Wow! I didn't know that before. This hotel opened in 2000. Almost, nineteen years ago. Recently, I spent several nights in this Marriott. I like it. Very peaceful environment and not like a typical downtown Marriott Hotel, full of temporary security guards and midnight madness. This hotel is also the home of ICS (International Church of Shanghai). I came here few times in the past for Sunday prayer in the second floor. Its a big hotel. I like the Executive Lounge and Lobby Lounge in the first floor, and also the Terrace Garden. Gym and Swimming Pool are both old but still ok to use. Service is excellent. more than I expected, especially a new generation of Hospitality professionals like Allen Wu, the Manager of the Executive Lounge. Recently, he came back from Switzerland after his education and internship. He also worked briefly in UK before joined this hotel almost three years ago. I can see the future generation of hospitality professionals in China. A big change indeed. Thanks for the conversation Allen.
I stayed in Marriott Hotel Hongqiao a few months ago for 4 days. I wasn't sure which Marriott Hotel in Shanghai should I chose... I checked reviews and decided to take a risk and stay in the first Marriott Hotel in Shanghai. At first great location. Hotel has about 20 years, but I was quite surprised by the result of the renovation. Room was really nice, silent, with a comfortable bed. I could adjust the temperature inside the room. Check-in process was fast and smooth. I guess - Avril was the name of an honest smiling girl who did check-in. I enjoyed access to the executive lounge - M-Club. Another calm place in Marriott Hotel Hongqiao where you can fully rest while enjoying various types of refreshments and delicious food. All the best for Lerry and Toby from the cold kitchen. They've been doing a great job with a cold plate. Kind-hearted service from staff (Luna, Joy, Krishna), and especially Cola who is a blissful human being who always smiles. Ask her about her name, then everything will be clear. Allen who is a manager of the M-club knows everything about Shanghai. He recommended me a few places where to go... His recommendations were perfect! As well as his cocktails. The right person in the right place. Swimming Pool and Gym like it supposed to be! Last but not least I have to mention about concierge guys, mainly Steven, Dan, and Kevin&Gavin. They arranged transport to PVG airport for me. While I was finishing breakfast Guest Service Officer Gordon came to let me know that taxi is waiting for me. Great experience. I wish hotels all over the world have the same level of hospitality as Shanghai Marriott Hotel Hongqiao! I would highly recommend this place! It feels that Managerial Staff know exactly what to do to make the stay pleasant. Best wishes to all staff and hope I will be back in nearly future! ps. always in my mind funny conversations in the lobby with Simon : )
Close to Hongqiao airport, the room is comfortable, very clean and the air conditioner is very silent! This is a must. Good bed, bed linen and pillows. Nice fitness area, changing rooms separated man x woman, with sauna, steaming room and a shared indoor pool. Breakfast with a lot of variety. English level is above average for Shanghai.
Awesome experience while staying here, Amazing hospitality by the staff, specially the head chef Mr. Balduccio Fabrizio. I am a vegetarian and I was surprised that the chef helped me out in making the live dishes as per my taste and preferences. Room was amazing as well, cleaned and with superb view :).
I am impressed with the Marriott staffs at the M Club with their attentive services. From the check-in, the breakfast, the banquet seminar services and the housekeeping. Special mention to Krishna for making me feel special. Thank you!
Was in Shanghai on business and this area was convenient. The Hotel has a nice lobby with bar, restaurant, cafe and a few shops. The room had a view towards the center of Shanghai, but was too far away to see anything of interest. Nice clean room. Shower in a glass box which is pretty cool. Excellent cleaning every day including fresh towels. Excellent breakfast and service. Recommended and would stay there again.
I would highly recommend paying some extra for the room upgrade which gives you access to the club lounge. Every night we would come here at 5.30pm before heading out for dinner elsewhere. Food choices are nice and cocktails are brilliant!
The hotel is located in Hongqiao, nearby the hongqiao airport.I receive a great greeting, guy of the front desk is kindness. My check in is very quick,by the way the welcome coffee tastes good especially in hot summer.
I've been there for 3 nights, I enjoyed my access to executive lounge (Mclub). I'm very pleased by the professional service provided by very open and always willing to speak Victor, I enjoyed those small talks a lot. It's is worth to mention always smiling girl with an accurate name - Joy. The food and snacks look splendid and tastes even better. All thanks to the chef and Lerry from cold kitchen. The cherry on top were cocktails specially prepared and served by the executive floor manager Allen. Not only is he an expert but also has got a vast knowledge in this particular field. There's a huge TV in the room with a lot of news channels including BBC and CNN, there are some newspapers (Times, Shanghai Daily, Wall Street Journal, USA today) and, additionally, each table has got a few magazines.
Overall a great hotel, Classic Lobby and a Superb Marriott lounge! especially the design, they have a very different designing style( very modern ) which make this lounge unique. They also got a fancy Nespresso machine in the lounge too.
